Beetle turns on his heels, giving chase the moment Gundren tries to escape. He yells to the others, planting his feet at the chamber doorway. The paladin points Talon at Gundrens back at the beast runs, his blade sparking to life with energy. Without warning the sword erupts, sending a blast of crackling light through the air.
Attack: 10
The crackling beam fizzes through the air, missing its target and drilling a shallow hole into the stone wall.
Following Beetles call, Arkhan charges ahead. A blinding rage fills the dragonborn. He shoves Beetle aside, eyes searching the corridor ahead for the beast. With Gundren in sight, he lunges forwards, arms stretched wide.
Healing Spirit to Arkhan: 4 (OOC: It's just 1d6 Arkhan!)
Arkhan Athletics 6 vs 16 Gundren Dexterity
As the dragonborn sails through the air, he is briefly blessed by Synas spirit. The sensation is just enough to distract him at the last moment, fumbling his grasp on the wriggling shapeshifter.
With Gundren distracted, Syna reaches out a chilled hand, grabbing Gundrens arm tightly. A deadly chill flows down the druids arm. He closes his eyes, urging the cold forwards into the beast.
Gundren Constitution Save: 20 Spell Save DC: 13
Cold shoots into Synas fingers just as Gundren notices the druids hand. The creature angrily throws the druid away against the wall, roaring into his face as he staggers back into the corridor. Seraks voice echoes from the chamber.
"Where ya going? The party has just started!" At the first sign of Gundrens escape, Serak reacts, spinning on his heel as the beast stomps away. He stands aside as Arkhan and Beetle take the lead, shouting into the corridor as the beast retreats.
Gundren Wisdom Save: 15 Spell Save DC: 14 Damage: 1 (Plus D/A next attack)
The bards words bounce around Gundrens mind, developing a small ache at the back of his skull. He lets out a low rumbling growl, turning away to run.
Disengaging a second time, Gundren rolls away, clambering over the still sleeping hobgoblin and escaping west, deeper into the castle. The door to the next chamber opens, slamming firmly shut as Gundren flees.
OOC: Bit of cat and mouse! Beetle and Serak, remember that you'll only get the first doorway for free. Using a second doorway would be an action. Beetle you're up first.
Beetle seeing Grundren fleeing knows that is a bad idea and follow to the 2nd door and opens it to see where Grundren has gotten too..."Grundren is fleeing" he shouts, "we need to be careful chasing himtoo far and finding more enemies in our weekened state."
(OOC: he will hold there keeping the door open if anyone else chases... maybe Syna moves to door and tries an entangle? not sure what spells slots he has left or possible Arkhan can try a grapple again.)
OOC: *Sigh* We're about to be fighting a whole castle of enemies. This Hobgoblin wakes up in 2 rounds. Serak can lock the wolf inside the room as he leaves.
The first door Beetle passes should already be open so he could use his Item Interaction to open the second door, move 5ft inside and then shoot Gundren. Arkhan would be able to move close enough to Engage Gundren or move elsewhere in the room. Syna can make it inside the room to cast Entangle or Spiked Growth if he has the slot. Serak can make it to inside the second doorway to see.
(ooc: yeah i can try another grapple unless the door takes an action to open or something. if I fail that though, I feel like we should bail. I've used all my resources. We've taken out two big threats. I'd like to loot spider and king but idk if we have time for that. I think we all could use another sleep lol)

OOC: I think we take 1 more shot at catching him with Arkhan's grapple while I am holding the door if it misses loot real quick and get out to rest and come back after
OOC: Thanks Beetle! We had our little delivery this time last week so we’re just catching up on ourselves. I’m still here though! All is great with us thanks :)
Ill get these rolls sorted ASAP, probably in a couple of hours once we get to nap time :p

Reacting fastest, Beetle takes up the chase. With Talon in hand, the paladin charges forwards, shouldering the first door against the wall firmly. Seeing Gundren disappear into the next room he calls to the others, "Gundren is fleeing! We need to be careful chasing him too far and finding more enemies in our weakened state." As he enters the corridor, the forest spirit blesses him, giggling softly at the sudden panic. Making it to the second doorway, Beetle turns. He holds the door open for the others following close behind.
Healing Spirit on Beetle: 3
Taking a quick burst of energy from the spirit himself, Arkhan too leaps over the sleeping hobgoblin in pursuit of the slippery foe.
Healing Spirit to Arkhan: 1
Storming through the door held open for him, his eyes quickly snap to his target. With a loud vengeful roar, the dragonborn leaps through the air, both golden arms spread wide as he grasps for Gundren.
Gundren ducks a second too late restrained by a pair of thick muscled arms. Arkhan locks his hold, grabbing both wrists and squeezing all the air he can muster from the shapeshifters chest. The creatures wheezes, struggling for breath, trying in desperation to break free.
Following the others, Syna leaps over the sleeping hobgoblin and into the second chamber. A quick scan of the room and the druids plans change. "Watch yourself Arkhan! That beast won't be held for long!" With a flick of his wrists he flips his sleeves back, exposing his forearms. With the first, he beckons to the forest spirit, who politely obliges with a high pitched giggle, swooping high around the chamber before hovering just over Arkhans shoulder.
Syna thrusts his second arm forwards, a fist towards Gundren and inhales slow and deep. His fingers glisten slightly, a thin transparent sheen covering his hand, cracking loudly as the druid reveals his open palm. A sharp, chilling wind rushes through the air between Arkhan and Beetle, swirling around them before descending onto the shapeshifter.
Gundren Constitution Save: 8 Spell Save DC: 13
Gundrens monstrous form barely acknowledges the change in temperature, writhing in fury as it tries to break free. Syna releases his spell, disappointed, casting an eye into the corridor for Serak.
OOC: Serak!
As I say I'm a little distracted atm so forgive any mistakes on this. Arkhan.... I'm not sure what you're going to do with this chap now that you've caught him!
Serak: Racing after the others, Serak closes the door behind himself before cautiously stepping past the unconscious Hobgoblin.
Movement - 1S, 3W
Seeing Arkhan with the shape-changer in his grasp, the Bard decides now as good a time as any to capture a prisoner. Retrieving the manacles from his pack, Serak carefully places them upon the slumbering Hobgoblin at his feet.
Action - Manacles

True to character, Serak is not far behind. Standing in the corridor, the bards face widens with a grin - his hobgoblin prisoner now secured in manacles at his feet.
ROUND 13
Still struggling against Arkhans grip, Gundren lets out a high pitched screech. The intense sound echoes around the chamber, demanding every ounce of strength from the others not to grasp at their ears. The beast manages to free an arm, swiping at his captor.
Gundren Attack Roll 1: 11 Gundren Attack Roll 2: 15
Arkhan shakes the creature aside, tightening his grip slightly against the struggle. A small bead of sweat trickles down the dragonborns neck at the sheer effort, but he holds firm.
OOC: Beetle we're back to you again!
Arkhan, sorry I'm a little confused what you meant. I haven't taken your action just yet incase you want to change anything!
(ooc: its okay grapple mechanics are weird. i was trying to use the shove action to knock him prone. shoving works like grappling where he has to roll athletics or acrobatics to try and avoid being shoved. either way i still have him grappled.)
