OOC: I though in the small room where we found the prisoners we hid the bodies, we could have Arkhan incinerate them though with his dragon breath....lol
Reluctantly staggering to his feet, Gundren is both confused and pleased at Seraks words. The dwarf turns to ask Serak what he meant... but the bard has already disappeared out the door.
In the corridor, Serak steps carefully through his traps, to take a quick peek beyond the leather curtain. In the next room, a stone brazier full of coals glows in an area clearly laid out as a barracks. Four straw pallets are lined up along the east wall, above which, a single arrow slit give clear vantage to the surrounding area. The wall to the south has collapsed, but a barred wooden door in that direction is still clear. As Serak listens, a loud thud rattles the southern doorway, shaking a thick layer of dust from the wood. Otherwise all is quiet. To the west, a second door leads to another room.
Quietly stepping back away from the curtain, Serak lifts his caltrops and ball bearings. One by one he carefully sorts them into separate pouches, pondering over what he had seen.
Serak: Taking note of the bunks before being distracted by the loud thud, Serak quickly returns to the room and describes what he's seen. To Hog he asks, "I saw four bunks in the next room. Who do they belong to and will anyone be looking for you before morning? Also, what lies behind the door to the south? Speak knowing if anyone comes through that door unexpectedly, you're the first to die."

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
"I can have Sabastian here keep watch as well." Taman says, patting his owl's head. He has the owl move out to a position where it can keep a watch of the approach to this chamber.
Hog grunts with slight disdain for his predicament, "Bunks for guards. Always soldier on watch.... relief due at sunrise" A slight grin appears on the hobgoblins face, "Noone go into the south chamber, Grols special project - Twitch and Hoots. Big Beasties. Best leave them alone..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Serak: Satisfied with Hog's answers, he once again gags the Hobgoblin before chaining him up, saying, "Well then, let's get some rest. If everyone agrees, I think we'll be safe here until early morning. I'll volunteer for first watch. My illusions should dissuade anyone from entering." First barring the passage, the Bard casually sits and rests his head against the door as he listens for anyone approaching the other side.
Taman has his owl keep watch outside of the room, and lays down to take a rest as well. He did not get much rest while captive, so enjoys being able to lay without ropes binding him.
OOC: Grol and the shapeshifters didn't actually have anything of value on them!
Settling in for the night, Serak takes his position beside the door, ear pressed against the splintered wood. Darkness envelopes them, slowly fading as the morning approaches. For hours, the only sound Serak hears is the occasional flutter of feathers - Tamans owl roosting quietly. Unlike the others, Hog doesn't rest, his mind racing with what the next day will bring. A few hours later Syna rises, taking the bards place at the door until morning arrives.
(OOC: DM, I am going to move Taman up to 4th then, since you had me move him down since someone wasn't 4th-level yet. Now everyone is 4th-level except for Taman.)
Serak: Growing restless during his watch, Serak decides to have a closer look through the rooms and their contents for loot, but more importantly clues and the map. With a flick of his wrist, the Bard produces his Wand of Detect Magic, casting the spell as he conducts his search.

OOC: Welcome aboard, Taman! Good to have a 4th again!
Sorry I've not been as active as usual guys. I've been real busy and I was sick for a couple weeks. Not Coronavirus thankfully! I'm ready to get back into it though! Let's get this castle cleared out.
Taking there time over their search, the party slowly, and meticulously examine every inch of the Kings chamber. After a few short minutes, Taman lifts the wolfs canvas bedding - covered in stinking fur matted with blood. Stitched into the canvas sits a long leather sack. Without so much as a second thought, the wizard slashes open the sack with his dagger, spilling its contents onto the floor. Several handfuls of coins loudly rattle over the stone slabs, rolling all directions away from Tamans feet, followed by three glass bottles - instantly recognisable as potions of healing. Serak gathers the coins, counting 220 silver and 160 electrum pieces in total as Taman searches inside of the now empty sack.
A smile stretches across his face as he turns to the others. In his hand, a single sheet of parchment. Drawn on the parchment, in immaculate detail is the town of Phandalin and the surrounding areas - Neverwinter Wood, The Sword Mountains as far north as Starmetal Hills. However one particular location stands out to their dwarven friend. "There it is!" Gundren stands, propped in the doorway, eyes barely able to see the map in Tamans hand, "Wave Echo Cave my friends. Our fortune awaits!"
