Serak: Sensing the ruse, the bard decides to play along. He puts on a winning smile and motions for the others to calmly enter the room, to get better positioning.
Entering cautiously behind the others, Serak says, "We've come in search of Iarno. Is that you, sir? Have you been captive here, forced to make potions for the Redbrands, all this time?"

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
The bearded man clears his throat. Stepping away from the wall naturally and calmly. "I am Iarno Albrek. Grand Wizard of the Lords Alliance of Neverwinter. I was sent here to investigate this town and the disturbance that these Redbrands have been causing." White teeth gleam through his black whiskers as he makes his way slowly towards the party as they gather around the door. Clutching his staff and papers tightly, he continues his story, "They captured me a few months ago and held me here ever since, hoping to gain some sort of ransom from the Lords Alliance I suppose. And what might your names be gentlemen? And on who's service have you come to rescue me?" The mangy rat curls up into the mans neck, stroking itself lightly against his wild beard.
Beetle:
With his Divine Sense Beetle suddenly becomes aware of a toxic stench arising from the man, almost akin to a mixture of slurry and death. With every step the man takes Beetle begins to feel more and more nauseous over powered by the odor.

Serak: Bowing gracefully, but never taking his eyes off the man, Serak says, "Serak The Skald, at your service, Sir. This is Beetle, Brots, Syna and Zlytris."
Casually looking about the room for clues, he continues, "We came of our own volition when we arrived and heard of the Redbrand blight on this town. We also search for Morthen's daughter and child. Have you seen them here?"
Iarno stops about halfway across the room and ponders for a moment before addressing the bards question. "Hmm. Well now I'm afraid I wouldn't know anything about that my friend. They have had me secured in this room for some time and I'm not familiar with the comings and goings. Although...." He starts walking again, this time back towards the bed in the corner, "... I have heard screaming from behind this wall from time to time. Screams of women echo around these caves at night. If they are here they are surely held captive in another room. Have you dealt with the guards outside of these rooms? Perhaps we should make haste back to the town while we still have a chance to escape this place?"

Listening to the man Beetle closes the distance between them trying to position himself between the man and anything he might seem to be trying to get near...(like the bed)
Serak: Deciding the jig is up, Serak says, "Yes, I believe you'd very much like to escape immediately, as you were trying to do when we arrived, through the hidden door we blocked."
Pointing his crossbow at the man, the bards demeanor changes completely as he says, "Drop the staff, Glasstaff! Leader of the Redbrands! You should have hidden the fancy glass staff if you wanted to pull this off, bub. Now, what have you done with Iarno?"

Serak: Assuming the man does not resist, Serak takes the documents from his arms and says, "The creatures from your crevasse filled us in on "wizzy glasstaff" and these must be the documents Halia wanted. Tell me how she and the townmaster are connected to all this, or I swear by the God's I'll start putting holes in you!"

"So Glassstaff or Iarno, whatever you want to call yourself...you do not seem like a captive to me, and I am sure if you were the Redbrands would not have left a great, powerful wizard they had captured with his staff." Beetle says, then turns to his companions...."this guy sets my senses off there is definitly nothing good coming from this guy."
"Surrender now and we let you live...I know someone who would love to have a chat with you..." Beetle continues thinking Seldor would love to question this guy.
Beetle keeps inching closer and closer with his shield ready to go if needed...

Flustered and sensing he has been caught out Iarno raises his staff aggressively, "Fools, if it is a fight you have come for then a fight you shall have. I wouldn't want to disappoint my guests!"
OOC: As always any problem with your starting positions let me know.
Apparently I'd misread the rules regarding moving past other characters. You can pass allies at half speed no problem, but you cannot pass through the same square as enemy characters. Might make things a bit trickier in the narrow corridors of this place as space is already limited. Happy to stick with how we've been playing up to now if it suits better?
From behind Syna growls, "Alive", then there comes a growl from behind as Syna takes on the shape of a wolf. In a few steps the gray wolf launches for Glasstaff's arm.
Attack: 11 Damage: 5 (non-lethal)
[If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 11 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone]
OOC: Great move with the wolf! If he's knocked prone, Beetle and Zyltris will have Advantage. This guy is already done. Bag 'em, tag 'em and drag 'em to Sildar.
I'd like to finish searching this place first though. We need to find Iarno and Morthen's family and I'd like to arrest or kill any other Redbrands here, upstairs, or at The Sleeping Giant.

Initiative Rolls:
Beetle: 15
Brots: 21
Serak: 9
Syna: 6
Zyltris: 17
Glasstaff: 5
Beetle 17 vs Syna 6
OOC: New dice please. These initiatives are all awful..... except for Brots again wtf
Beetle says to his companions "We should try to capture him if possible, Sildar will want to speak to him."
Serak: Dropping his crossbow, Serak shouts, "Surround him and grab him! He can't cast spells if we're holding him! We want him alive!"
Grapple: 1
OOC: Really, dice? Really? I give up on trying to keep these suicidal people alive. lol

Is grapple a straight d20 or does athletics get added?
OOC: Should be a strength (athletics) check contested by the targets strength (athletics) or dexterity (acrobatics) check.
Altho a nat 1 would be a failure anyway!
Beetle will try to grapple on his turn...

OOC: Awesome! For your wolfs HP are you taking the base score of 11 or would you rather roll 2d8+2? Also just decide on where your equipment goes to
The base is fine, and equipment will merge...
