Priton summons his spiritual weapon on the ground as it fires at the Ghast, filling the area with an ethereal grey smoke (it’s still a fun, right?). The Ghast reels back from the damage, but gains its footing enough to take an attack of opportunity at Priton before he rushes off to the ghoul.
Priton would stumble over from the blow if he was able to. Once the claws dig into the back of Priton, his muscles seized in place as he becomes paralyzed. Frozen like a statue, Priton is unable to make his next attack against the ghoul.
Update: Hermenor is engaged with the remaining ghoul while Ragnir is engaged with the Ghast 10 feet away from each other. Currently both Tyr and Priton have succumbed to the paralysis of the Ghast’s strikes.
Delighting in the sudden change of the battlefield. The two incapacitated heroes frozen at his mercy. The Ghast begins to let out a deep and twisted laugh. Ragnir screams back, swinging his blade upward cleaving at the Ghast. Decapitating the foul monstrosity. The head rolls away towards the water as the body falls to its knees and collapses.
A blue covering begins to cover Tyr. In the moment of fear and paralysis. He can still feel the warmth and comfort coming through.
Priton remains frozen by the paralysis. Hermenor, Tyr, and Ragnir are free to act.
Update: Hermenor is currently engaged with the final ghoul. Ragnir and Tyr are ten feet away. The fear of the hostages are beginning to subside seeing the fight to so well.
Bobbing and weaving around the ghoul’s strikes. Hermenor measures the distance with a quick jab, ducks under another claw attack as the ghoul retaliates. As he ducks under the swing he follows through with an overhead right. Hermenor you feel the facial bones crunch and cave in with your final strike as it crumpled down to the ground.
Combat is over - Priton comes out of paralysis.
Taking the time to look around. You see the 11-12 hostages all sigh in relief after that frightening encounter. You see a caged in pen area, where they must’ve kept the miners. Three cages are lining the pen - where they kept the ghouls. Around the perimeter of the pen is a pressure plate system- upon further inspection it looks to be connected to open the doors of the Ghoul cages if stepped on. Across the way there is the underground lake of still water. In between there is a pile of items looks to be mining equipment. The miners are still afraid to move because of the black stone pillars.
Ragnir: (to the party) "This is a lot of prisoners we just rescued, i'm not sure what we should do next, we should continue to try to cleanse the area of corruption, but getting these people to safety is a big priority as well."

Hermenor tries to catch his companions’ attention, without making the victims privy to the discussion:
”Two points to consider, gents. First, unless we have safe-medallions for everyone, these victims might get zapped with evil-stone rays.”
”Second, remember that giant that we successfully avoided on our way to the village in the woods? Well, it just occurred to me that it had webbed feet. You know what else had webbed feet? The large footprints we saw around the lake, just outside this cave. And wait, there is more. When we went outside to try and attract these cultist out, these was a huge shadow lurking at the bottom of the lake. Connecting the dots, if we send the victims to wait at the entrance for us, we might instead be sending lunch to a water-breathing giant!”
The hostages begin to murmur and talk all at once making a chaotic cadence of pleas, thanks, and questions. One voice cuts above the others. The firbolg speaks up.
“We can not get close to those pillars. They will strike us down before we get 10 feet away. We do not know of any traps, they kept us in the dark pen, under watch of those savage beasts. The only time they let us out was to work.”
A human female chimes in
“They were looking for something, they kept talking about an artifact. That’s why we were digging.”
The firbolg continues
“What they didn’t know was that we found it. Well... I found it.”
the group of miners gasp and half erupt in accusations and yelling. Asking how he could let them suffer and go on like this. The Firbolg yells again
“If they got what they wanted they would’ve killed us all or left us for dead with those monsters. If they wanted it that bad it must be powerful enough that they shouldn’t have it.... I hit an air pocket and this skull came rolling out. It was pitch black, like obsidian. I covered it up with some burlap and took it. One night when the guards weren’t watching I threw it as hard as I could into the water.”
Another half orc male chimes in, interrupting the firbolg. “We thank you so much for saving us, we owe our lives to you. We couldn’t burden you any more, but we can’t go by ourselves. We are weak, tired, and hungry”
A voice pops up from the back “we will be fine if we stick together, strength in numbers. Just get us out of here!”
The voices begin to erupt again as the group begins to argue amongst themselves about what they should do. It’s clear the nerves of the situation has tensions running high. You see the firbolg trying to keep the peace.
