So, are you sending Jack in with the torch while you all wait "outside" the trees, or are you following him in? If following, how far back?
Maldorn and Erric continue to try to analyze the edge of the trees, feeling nervous about entering the unknown. Erric doesn't actually see any animals scurrying, climbing or flying. And, while he can't put his finger on it, he feels the teeniest tiniest magical presence. Maldorn sees nothing unusual about the plants themselves. They look healthy and pretty much undisturbed.
"Sounds good, Veric." Maldorn says, lightning up a serving of Aged Perique tobacco in his green serpent pipe. He smokes it without the help of his hands and waits his turn to follow Jack into the strange woods at the back of the marching order.
Jambiya will wait for Anafrey to follow Jack, prodding her if she doesn’t. Then Erric, then she will follow the halfling, letting Maldorn bring up the rear.

Anafrey would draw the silver rapier and hold it tightly in her right hand. As the torch seemingly floats its way into the forest, She would draw a dagger in her other hand and walk roughly 30 feet behind the invisible creature. While walking into the trees she would keep her eyes peeled for threats, trying her best to move silently down the path.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As we begin, Jambiya will pull out her witchy stick and tap it on the ground while she whispers some words. She stands up again and proceeds, a confident grin on her face.

Erric asks Jack to take the torch he's carrying around chest height and walk forward 15 feet for each of his bonus actions (that's as far as the spell lets you move the servant per turn). If something changes, he will have it stop but that's the command. He and Anafrey will follow 30 feet behind, moving 15 feet per round.
I'm assuming that, because Maldorn got the creeps right away, and Erric did just now, everyone is closely looking and listening for anything squirrelly. Full-on lions and tigers and bears oh my mode.
As soon as Jack steps/hovers/shifts into the trees, the group almost loses sight of the flame of the torch. It becomes a tiny ball of light and does not illuminate the trees, ground or anything around it. Proceed? Call Jack back?
"I have a bad feeling about this," Erric says. He tosses one of his sling stones into the place where the torch got dark. Does anything hinky happen to it? Does the weird tree feeling seem to exist everywhere there are trees, or is it just this small clearing? Either way, Erric will try to see the clearing from all sides, sticking close to the group. "Let's circle around this clearing once before we go in."
But if the group just walks in, Erric will go with. He's not staying there outside all alone.
Anafrey would walk in first with both weapons drawn.. making her way into the trees. "I am not afraid of the forest.." She says as she rolls her neck accompanied by a few loud cracks.
Yes I definitely thought it was a small clearing - neither I nor Erric has the patience for walking around it for 15 minutes! Erric goes in, peeking just his head forward where Jack's torch disappeared. Anything weird?
"Let's just not burn the forest down, please," Jambiya half jokes.

Erric notes to everyone that he thinks there might be magic happening and looks haplessly at Jambiya for answers.
Jack has a range of 30 feet so let's try 30 feet in, see what happens, and then move in 30 feet behind?

Erric, what exactly do you command Jack to do?

”Call jack back, Veric. Let’s check if the torch looks normal again once out here with us.”
Assuming Erric agrees ... Once the torch is no longer within the shadow of the trees, it looks normal again.
"Something is very wrong here," Jambiya says. "We should march in there and fix it." But she doesn't march in there first.

OOC: Same marching order?

The rock lands on the deeply shadowed ground. Nothing strange seems to happen.
You estimate it would take about 15 minutes to walk the circumference of the trees with no stops.
“Let’s go in, friends.” Maldorn suggest.

Jambiya follows Erric, holding an Eldritch Blast Ready for any jump scares.
