I'll let you keep making plans, but go ahead and address the questions.
"Can you kindly point out the window that leads to the game room? I know you said no once but you can agree we are trying to do the right thing here, right?"
Milo scowls, folding his arms over his chest. "I'm not going to point out any windows to the room in the northwest corner of the Cadaver's Arms."
"What time of day would there be the least amount of people inside?"
"Inside the Cadaver's Arms?" Milo thinks for a moment. "Before and after lunch, but before supper."
"Do you know anything about the metal rod the gnomes placed at the top of the ruin, or the gargoyles?"
Milo looks genuinely surprised. "The gnomes put some kind of rod up there?" He steps away from his house and looks up at what is left of the temple's upper reaches. He shakes his head. "Don't know. And the only thing I can say about the gargoyles is that we sometimes get monsters. Before they sealed the rift, monsters terrorized this area all of the time. It's a lot safer now, but we still sometimes get menaced. Guards are supposed to patrol to protect us, but we're lucky if they come through once a day."
Jambiya begins walking back toward the tavern. About twenty feet away, she pulls out a strip of withered road meat, "Hey Munchy! C'mere boy!" and she holds it out, bending down.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
"Well, aren't you lucky we are here then? We have the wounds and marks to prove we cleared some of these monsters you talk about. Chances are we'll clear some more before this is over." With that, Maldorn thanks Milo for his answers and waves a goodbye.
Jambiya, as you approach the Cadaver's Arms, your focus is on Munchy, but you notice Geth is welcoming several individuals into the tavern with his broad smile and several pats on the back. One ties up their horse before entering as if they are traveling. Munchy, however, has stopped panting up at the focus of his owner to stare at you. He stands up on all fours and begins wagging his tail, but he doesn't move toward you. Finally, Geth seems to notice and looks at you. Smiling, he says, "Go ahead," and Munchy rushes full speed toward you. He does a lap around your kneeling form and then licks your fingers before snatching the treat, swallowing it practically whole, and then licks your fingers again.
Maldorn, Milo gives a little shrug, but it seems more of a habit than a real response to your statement. As you walk away, the halfling says to himself non too quietly, "Crazy country folk."
OOC > Have we ever determined what Jambiya sounds like to others when she is talking to animals? I've always just assumed she speaks in her usual voice and language, and people and animals can follow her side of the conversation, where the animals respond with their own sounds, and she can understand them. I've never imagined her barking or neighing or twittering to the animals. Let me know if you thought something different.
Jambiya laughs and squats to pet Munchy. "Hey," she says to him so he can understand her, but quietly enough that it would be hard to hear her from the front porch (where Geth may be busy anyway). "You are such a good dog! Best dog! I know you love your person, and your job is to love him and protect him. We found monsters underground, we're safe for now, we killed them because that's our job, but we think they have something to do with the back room in the tavern, and places under the tavern, and we are worried your person and the others might be in danger. Have you smelled anything that might make you worried, or anything odd, about the gnomes, or about that room? Have you heard anything under the floor?"

Erric walks up right behind Jambiya and addresses Geth, chatting him up, trying not to get in his way but asking what his favorite music is, if he gets lonely out here, where he’s from, and also supplying some jokes and easy impressions of famous people around Faerun. Let me know what rolls you want for distraction.
(I am hoping the stage directions here ended up with Jambiya and Munchy far enough away from Geth—since she deliberately called Munchy to her, and he had to be released by Geth to come—for some privacy. Erric would have to pass J to get to and talk to Geth. At least, that was her plan.)

While the smalls chat up the dog and his owner, Maldorn turns to Aseid and asks in a low voice: "Almost lunchtime... Perhaps we should wait an hour or two before attempting anything in the tavern. I could use the rest too. What do you think?"
"Agree. Do you think they would let us in and serve lunch?" Maybe the owner just did not want them to stay in the inn but would not mind feeding the company?
Erric, roll persuasion. It will be an incredibly low DC as he's also trying to welcome people in and convince passersby to stop, but it'll be funny if you fail or come really close to it.
Maldorn continues his side conversation with Aseid: "Well, young Seat, if anyone here has a chance of convincing them to serve us lunch after they kicked us out last night, that person is Erric over there. See, he's already working his magic on the bouncer." The old ranger thinks for an extra second or two before adding: "Although, showing our face inside now may tip them off later when they realize someone broke in... and that's if they don't catch us in the act."
Geth smiles down at Erric, looking happy to see the halfling again. In between encouraging passersby the stop for lunch (it's not at all a steady stream; more like a single or a pair every now and then, but he's constantly on the lookout and so sort of distracted) and thanking a couple that have left since the party approached, Geth tries to respond to Erric's questions. He also offers, "Sorry about last night. Largo pays Sergor a lot of money, so he gets upset when that is threatened."
“I can imagine that! Well, actually, I can’t imagine. They seem so serious about their card game. Which is is play!! Play is supposed to be fun. What is your particular brand of fun? What does Geth do when he’s not here, to unwind?”
Erric may or may not have forgotten what he’s supposed to be doing here. But he does pause to let Geth get words in to answer questions. He vaguely remembers he’s supposed to talk to Geth, and he’s hungry so he’ll happily turn to the subject of lunch, and he’s curious about the grumpy gnomes but he doesn’t want to push given what happened. But any overt scheme has fled his mind and he’s calling an audible and just going with what he finds.
Maldorn invites Aseid to come with him and check out the "windows in the northwest corner" of the tavern that Milo so expertly "avoided" telling them about. "We can look at them from a distance for now, while Erric and Jambiya sweettalk the bouncer."
"You are such a good dog! Best dog! I know you love your person, and your job is to love him and protect him. Munchy relays to Jambiya that the gnomes began smelling very different not long ago. He does not like the smell at all, but when he tried to let the others know, Geth got really mad, so Munchy has done his best to ignore the new smell. But he always keeps a close eye on them just in case. They haven't done anything dangerous, but he does not like that new smell.
“I can imagine that! Well, actually, I can’t imagine. They seem so serious about their card game. Which is is play!! Play is supposed to be fun. What is your particular brand of fun? What does Geth do when he’s not here, to unwind?”
Geth is polite, but seems a little confused about what Erric's asking. He explains that he is always at the Cadaver's Arms. It's his job and his home. He does admit that he enjoys playing with Munchy after dark.
Maldorn and Aseid return to the temple ruin with the intent to looking for windows on the northwest corner. From the west, they can see no windows on that end of the building and will need to continue around to look at the back of the Arms for windows.
"I think we are getting a bit away from the other two, but it might still be worth looking at the north wall since there are no windows on the west wall..." Maldorn tells Aseid, letting his sentence trail off so that his fellow human can fill in with his own take.

(Yeah I assumed they sort of split on their route to get there given the intention.)
Maldorn lets Milo leave with no further comments.
