"There is no need to get testy, Nylon. We are simply looking it over and moving it might just reveal what is wrong with it. It was a simple request for help. If you do not want to help, then please don't disturb our work."
Aseid helped as best as he could to move the statue a bit, or at least to see if it could be turned slightly. But he did tell Mldorn (quietly) "Under the statue should be that dead-end entrance where you shot an arrow" and loudly added a question for Milo: "Did you live in this place before all the destruction?"
Jambiya watches, and then realizes she hasn't passed on her intel. "A rat we met down below said there were lighted tunnels to the east." She looks about, trying to determine what those might be under.
Milo turns around, returns to his front door, and leans against it. He is looking doubtfully at the group, but doesn't appear to want to retreat fully.
"Did you live in this place before all the destruction?" Aseid calls to the halfling.
Milo pauses, looking at the dark-haired young man. "No," he finally says, drawing the word out a little, and not sounding ready to elaborate.
Pushing and finally grunting in unison, the humans feels the statue sliding and then leaning and finally falling. They step to the side as it falls half in the dry basin and half out, breaking with a loud crash into two halves on either side of the retaining wall that also takes a beating, sending more rock flying and dust rising.
"What — ?!" Milo says, eyes wide and mouth agape.
Aseid and Maldorn look at the center of the fountain and into the hole left by the removed statue. Hey can see the top of a ladder.
"Well, here is the entrance again. Not sure what it gives us, but here it is." He looked down, then at Milo. "See? This is your problem - no water. Might be because of the cave-ins. I do not think we can put the statue back - just the two of us - but now you can show the city authorities, what to fix." Aseid was ready to move to the place Jambiya found.
You don't see an arrow, but if you're looking at what you're thinking you're looking at, it's there, just not visible from above.
Milo scowls. "No water?" he repeats angrily, but then he appears to become curious. He looks at the hole and actually takes a few steps. "What is that?" He cranes his neck, but you're pretty sure the halfling can't see much from the distance and his height. He creeps forward as if reluctant to associate with the destruction, but then also giving in to his desire to know what's been found. Finally standing just outside of the what should be the retaining wall for a pool of water, he makes a curious sound in his throat. "Where does that go?"
"Tunnels. Dry tunnels. No water. Some dangerous mushrooms we had to put down. But yes, lots of cave-ins too. Apparently people have been down there messing with things. You wouldn't know anything about that, would you?"Erric says, beginning to tune his lute a bit, and slowly lapsing into a gentle wordless song.
Jambiya looks around the surface, trying to orient herself again. "The rat said there were lighted tunnels to the... east," and she points. (remind me what is there?)

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
OK. Imagine you are in a room of a house. You shoot an arrow into the ceiling. Then, you climb the stairs and go to the room above the room you were in. You take a hammer and punch a hole in the floor. So, now you can see through the hole to the floor of the room you were in before. But you can't see the arrow because it's sticking out of the ceiling. That's what's going on here. Maldorn, your roll was high enough to "track" where the ladder would be below ground to know that you're above the room where the ladder was. The ladder ended at the bottom of the fountain. You just can't see the arrow because it's not in eyesight. Now, if you started down the ladder or even got down and stuck your head and shoulders through the hole, that would be a different story.
Jambiya, upon exiting the tunnels, immediately to the east is the Cadaver's Arms tavern.

Jambiya watches as the bigs go about their big business. If Milo makes eye contact with her, she just shrugs.

"This statue might move. We won't know if it fixes anything until we try. Why don't you lend us a hand?"
-> Persuasion check: 4
(OOC: Perfect! The original roll was a Nat 1.)
Milo narrows his brow. "No wonder Sergor kicked you out. I don't think your head's screwed on right."

Erric might have already passed along the intel?
(Well sure. Maybe Jambiya feels like the bigs didn’t hear? I will cover my mistake with hers. ;)
