Erric comes to with a start of realization. "Guys! I think I can make my illusions block light! So that we can see the room, but the ogre wouldn't be able to see the source of the light. Err... hmm. There's probably some other way to do this, but ideas are good because they lead to other ideas. I learned that in a weird acting class I took once, where there was no script and the teacher kept saying some magic word, 'yess'and' I think it was, and..."and he trails off, low-velocity intellect already lost on a tangent.
OOC: he's not generally a smart or wise boy, so this might be a group project :)

OOC: I didn't see @rkmobius' post above before writing mine. If the group decides to try the light-blocking trick first, Maldorn will wait. Othewise, this post sticks. I'll place it all into a spoiler for now:
"Alright, let's do this. Jambiya, guide me to the right spot with your magical lights. Erric, tell Sack to carry the pitons and be by my side. I'll take care of the trap and the hammering. Icy, be ready to shoot an ogre in the face. Ebokk and Track, keep an eye and ear out for any unexpected noises, be it the ogre approaching from another angle or from other enemies approaching in general. Sagitta, warn me of any unseen dangers. Let's go!"
"Also, Erric, I could use a bit of an encouraging talk, if you can spare one."With that, Maldorn moves quietly to the appropriate spot and places the trap as quickly as he can. In walking there and setting up, he'll initially try to be as quiet as possible, avoiding bones and whatnot. However, he will focus on speed/efficiency if he notices he is doing a bad job of staying quiet.
Jambiya lets her mouth drop open in surprise. "Wow. So, like you could make it look like a dark room to the ogre, but Maldorn and my light could be right there? Or... like there's a boulder in the way?" She stops to think a moment. "Come to think of it, if he can see in the dark, you'd need to make it look like what he sees in the dark, all grays and shadows... but since you don't know what that looks like... huh, this is tricky!"

Erric remembers himself and inspires him with no music, but instead a meaningful pat on the shoulder. He has to leap up to reach. "You can do this, I know you can!" he whispers.
He doesn't really know how it would work, but says to Jambiya, "I could make a pitch-black boulder shaped like a hemisphere, outside facing where we think the ogre is. We put your light on our side of it and it should be mostly blocked from him, but give Maldorn, Anafrey, and I some light."
While there is some light from Jambiya's dancing light, he looks over at Thrakk to see what the orc seems to be thinking.
Thrakk's facial expression is a mixture of disbelief and frustration, but he seems to be patiently waiting for the plan to be formulated. Ebokk, on the other hand, looks from person to person as they offer suggestions, his face alight with excitement ... or maybe freight.
Maldorn agrees: "I like the boulder suggestion, Erric. I vote for that."
If the group is ready, Maldorn will then proceed with his part of the plan (OOC: which is still very much what I posted in the spoiler in my last post above + the boulder).
Erric's at F5 or F6, right up against the wall, hiding (stealth: 9), trying to guide Jack to help Maldorn with the trap, and also ready with the aforementioned illusion as soon as Maldorn calls for it (assume before he starts, and before Jambiya's light pops into being).
He'll ready a vicious mockery on an ogre should he see one appear.
I thought Jambiya had already made one light appear. If there's no light, some of what has happened since arriving at the new cave doesn't make sense. Even if all the nodding and pointing is perceived by the blind ones behind the scenes, Maldorn's going to either need to be guided to the spot, or a light will already need to be up before he can move to where he's going to set the trap.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Assuming my stealth roll above is sufficiently high, I'd like Maldorn to quietly make his way back to where he initially stood before the onset of the plan. If needed, I am willing to use Erric's inspiration die to make this happen.
-> Inspiration die: 2 (for a total stealth check of 21).
Oh wow I didn't know it could do that!

OOC: I assume the trap comes with its own pitons. Sounds right?

Erric will keep an eye on him, insight checking from time to time to see if the orc begins to doubt the charming nature of the halfling.

@rkmobious: Was that pat on Maldorn's shoulder?
Yes definitely Maldorn's!
So, where is everyone else going to be while Maldorn is setting the trap?

Sounds good. That's when Maldorn signals Erric.
Jambiya will be hiding at A6, hoping to get shots at the ogre from behind that little outcropping. (Stealth: 11)
She will
pop onedrift her dancing light to A4, and move it if that does not seem to be enough light for Maldorn to work.she/her

(Yes, she had, sorry, edit that to be she drifts her light to A4.)

And Anafrey?
Maldorn is ready to go when the group says they are ready.
Anafrey will have her bow ready and will be standing next to Jambiya.
Maldorn, where are you going after you finish setting the trap? We're just about ready to do this!

OOC > I need to remember that Jambiya now has Guidance, too. We should never make an out-of-combat skill check without adding 1d4 to it, ever again.
