Jambiya spends a moment on the vista, imagining what it would be like to see the world from Snap’s point of view. She will give the rod a look, just to make sure nothing has really changed since she was last up here. Then she walks back down, following the black cord all the way to the ground.
“This cord, rope… thing runs from the rod all the way down here,” she points it out to the others.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
The search would take longer than Aseid expected and definitely require everyone's participation. So, the young man joined others inspecting the rod. "I feel like we had to ask if anyone saw some undead around."He did not know a ritual that would raise the dead with lightning (he did not know any magical rituals, to be honest) but the place - the temple of the god of the dead, graves, ruins, recent attack - all these suggested something sinister.
Aseid looked in the direction Jambiya was pointing, then at the cord and walked along the black rope.
Erric, you're not very familiar with the religion, but what Maldorn says sounds right. You're pretty sure you've heard stories of priests of Kelemvor going on undead hunts.
Curious about the cord, you dig down (with your hands) about a foot — maybe a foot and a half. It's very tedious and dirty work — and slow going. Do you continue?
Since she is slight and not much help with the digging, Jambiya will walk around, looking for any entrances that might indicate an underground to the temple. Perception: 14

Indeed, Aseid would never insult his weapon by using it as a shovel. But hand-axes would help somewhat.
Do cords simply go into the ground without a sign of direction (freshly disturbed soil, cleaner path, some indications, that they go straight through the upper layer (ceiling) of an underground room)?
Aseid and Maldorn continue to work on the cord as Jambiya and Erric move north.
Using axes and daggers, the humans dig down another foot or more and find the cord is attached to another pole, which continues downward.
Jambiya and Erric, as you move north, you find the ground becoming more spongy and muddy. You're not sure what you're looking for, but one of you catches your toe on something in the mud that catches your attention. More messy work, but you find some kind of hatch.
Erric sighs. "I really wish Jack hadn't found something else more interesting to do. He'd be perfect for this. Oh well." He looks around just a bit to see if the ground seems undisturbed or untrodden, then he rolls up his shirtsleeves and pulls out an old small buckler shield he's had stuck in the bottom of his pack for ages. He begins trying to clear the mud from the hatch.
"Probably."Actually, Aseid was looking for the way down, to the graves with the treasure hidden by Jabiya's father, but the second rod, connected with the first one, was interesting too. He glanced at Erric and Jambiya who seemed to find something too, rubbed the dirt off his hands and the axe, and walked to the new dig site. "There is another rod connected to the upper one..." Began he the explanations when saw the hatch. "But this seemed to be much better." Without wasting more words, he joined the digging.
Here's a perception check for Sagitta, should he spot any danger or suspicious activity: 11

-> Religion check to see how much Maldorn knows about Kelemvorrites: 12
OOC: I'll assume that's enough to at least cover the basics.
Maldorn looks at Aseid: "From what I know, that would be quite the slap on the face of any Kelemvorite. They absolutely despise the undead."
Sagitta does not alert Maldorn of any danger.
"So Kelemvor wants everyone to be dead, not undead?" Erric asks, nervous.
Religion: 11
He tries to help the others try to find where the cord goes.
"Either alive or dead, no in-between, I believe." Maldorn tries to clarify.
Aseid was grateful for help pointing the cord when he saw it and moving to the parts found by Erric when he missed some.
Perception: 19 (advantage for help)

Erric's not going to dig up the cable, but he'll help look around.
Maldorn has a healthy supply of daggers which could be used as spades. He lets Aseid borrow one and uses another in providing the young man some help.

Maldorn looks at Aseid: "Another rod... Is that what we were looking for?"
Jambiya makes a nature bird sound to attract the attention of Maldorn and Aseid. (Performance or Nature? Hm... Performance! 14). She waves them over.

Again, it's dirty work, but the use of the shield helps make it quick work. The mud is pushed aside to reveal the complete lid to some kind of hatch.
Jambiya sets about cleaning everyone up, while they work out who will open the hatch.
