"work, you say?" the gnome asks, looking up at the half-elf and scratching an itch through his scraggly red-brown hair. "I was told some years ago that if you find something you enjoy, you'll never work a day in your life. Don't ask me who first said it though, as that must be lost to the ages. But no, I'm not looking for work so much as looking for amazing artifacts." He notes, then pauses a moment and adds, "Work might be good, though, in the mean time, as I'm not yet sure how easy said legendary artifacts might be to locate.
The half elf smiles warmly. "Mayhaps it wouldn't be work, then, and I suppose there's always the chance you could stumble across the odd artifact or two." He grins more broadly. "I am Quodithas, humble servant of Torm." He bows before you again. "We just came from speaking with Castellan Shadowbreaker and we're putting together an expedition to go after that escaped convict to bring him back so he can face justice." He nods over his shoulder towards a tall, grizzled human in his middle years. "That is Bernard, and between him and I, we've got two so far... Maybe that's the kind of thing you'd enjoy?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I can't say yet weather I'll enjoy it since I haven't done anything like that so far in life. Though, it does seem like a good time to venture against some thieves now, before I acquire anything of actual value, I suppose.", he says, nodding thoughtfully. "capture of a thief also seems far more civil and far less grizzly than chopping off all sorts of ears toes and fingers, indeed. Much more pleasant, I hope."
He takes on a look of surprise as a thought occurs to him and asks, "Has anyone thought to check for hidden sorts of messages or bounties on the board, per chance? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to take a gander?"
Without waiting for an actual answer, he examines the postings and the board itself to see what he can find, if anything.
Investigation +5 check of the posting board and surrounding: 11 << did I do this right?
After nosing about, he pulls out a wooden ruler, a little mirror and little wooden rod, tapping and manipulating them in a rhythmic fashion on the board while mumbling quietly to himself. (ritual detect magic)
The message board doesn't react to Janter's spell, as it fizzles out in an undramatic flair. A guard does look over, "Um...the board is something the pact keeps up. We all try to keep it updated with what kind of monsters we have fought. The special requests are something either, the town, country, or person wants so they put it up themselves. We're all allies here so there's no need to hide info from one another, especially if it helps our fight." The guard gives a bow of the head.
Bernard approaches Quodithas as the gnome fiddles with the board. He gives the half-elf a puzzled look, then turns to address the gnome. He begins by clearing his throat.
"Sir gnome? Did you perhaps arrive with any companions who can help our cause? I fear that three of us may not be enough to effectively deal justice to the wrong-doers." He pauses before quickly adding. "Unless you bear some unseen power that could aid us?"

"I was just making sure nobody sneaked something on there." he quips. "And, Oh, I'm Janter Burlumpkin, and no, I am just myself.", he says introducing himself. "Not even multiple personalities, as far as I know."
Quodithas shrugs and scratches his head. "I agree, Bernard, it seems foolhardy to go after these villains with so few of us. It seems there were enough of them to break a prisoner free from a guarded transport, and they've been apparently robbing and raiding at will. Though I fear neither man nor beast with the power of Torm behind me, there is little chance that glory will be found in foolishly attacking greater numbers... At least without some sort of plan." He peers around. "We could look about a bit for one or two more, perhaps? We've all just recently arrived, maybe there are others about who are interested in this as well?"

"I wholeheartedly agree. While I don't wish to doubt the abilities we all have, going against an unknown number of assailants does seem to stretch the credibility of the success of just a few wanderers. Maybe it's because my equipment hasn't yet seen any actual use so far, I don't know. Perhaps while we wait, There may be some other less stressful work to do? Perhaps the keep would benefit from the creation of of an artistic artwork carved from the heart of an ironwood, or whatever the most convenient piece of timber may provide?" Janter looks to the guard and speaks. "kind sir, perhaps you can direct me to where my services may be of use, or where I may be able to set up some temporary residence of my own, since my newly purchased equipment have drained my coin something fierce?"
"I also need to arrange for lodging, surely there must be an inn nearby? It would benefit us all to sit and have a drink and a bit to eat while we talk to a few of the locals and get some information on what's going on around here." He waits for the guard to reply to Janter.
"The keep has a lodge house for folks going out into the wild. It's mostly for the elven rangers that stop by to rest and restock, but we also house the adventurers diving deep into the forest or the marsh. The keep's chefs cook for them all since we get enough food from both the elves and the locals." The guard answers.
(And the Watcher's eye, it's mostly used to pick out bases of either lawbringers or lawbreakers in a community, not for seeing who might be a criminal or not. The keep is the sole base there in Burle, the other establishments being just farms. For shopping, you'll have to go to Saltmarsh, the actual town. Burle is more of a village.)
The Shadow Hunters return to Burle, Kosh spattered in blood and gore. "Do we need to crash for the night, or just long enough to gather supplies and head back out?"

"We rest either way for the night, least we find ourselves beleaguered by greater threats. Far more than this motley crew can handle short of two of its members."Biri adds before turning to leave. The white-scaled dragonborn hesitates however, and looks back, "I've spoken the rest of my piece. But, if you need to do in meantime aside from resting, recruiting another -- perhaps a far more stalwart healer, possibly -- would not objected to." She says gives one final formal boy to Kosh and the rest, then spins on her heels to head deeper into the keep for supplies and thensome.

Quodithas, upon seeing the group of bloodied adventurers enter the keep, approaches them. He nods his head in a short bow. "Well met and Torm's blessings upon you all, it looks as though you've seen battle recently, I hope it was both honorable and glorious. Were you accosted by these bandits I've been hearing about? Is anyone in need of healing?"
He looks from person to person, checking for obvious injuries.
Kosh looks up as Quodithas approaches, "Hunh... Yeah it was glorious." He looks over at shy Yuno and then the others from the party that are worse for wear. "Some may want healing, but I think a night in will do us all good..." He brushes pale locks out of his eyes, though they immediately return, now with a streak of red blood in them as well. "Torm, eh? You been out yet?"
Yuno is covered in blood but otherwise, appears uninjured. She doesn't say much, just shrinks back a bit and lets the experienced and hardened adventurers talk.
Quodithas shakes his head softly. "No, I've only arrived this morning." He nods to Bernard and Janter. "We've all been discussing our options in seeking out the bandits, and bringing them in to face justice." He looks back at the group. "Perhaps we could all work together?"
