"We actually did something similar in one try. We tossed a rock to our left side off the road there, but the damned thing ended up on the other side. Whatever you're seeing, might only be seen on bare ground." The guard responded as he pointed, then threw his thumb back.
(Assuming Oswin also cast detect magic, more eyes the better, you said it seems as though the magic is emanating from somewhere, can we tell where from exactly?)
(This trail is running north/south, generally. Caravan was going south The spell is detecting the flow from the north-northeast. I was reconsulting my map, sorry.)
(No problem, just looking for a little detail before in character post.)
Oswin will carefully trace out the lines and flow of magic, “It seems the source is somewhere north-northeast of here. Best guess is we’ll need to take care of that before we can get out of this trap. Anyone know of anything over that way?” Turning to the guard, “Do you think you can keep the caravan safe and stay here while we go check out the source, try and get this dealt with? Can’t believe it didn’t occur to me to check for a source of all this. Thanks for the help.”
Gark has a vague recollection that the area the magic seems to be flowing from has an abandoned settlement that has been reclaimed by nature some time ago. A few animals use the derelict structures as shelter.

(I thought I should've been waiting for this map before I posted, but that's just because I misread that message completely.)
"So, we already know where we're going and what we'll find there? I think we should be ready to start walking, then, correct? I can keep an eye out as I've been up to here." Valentia says and waits to go with the group in the general direction where she saw magic coming from.
Gark reluctantly agrees “well if the only way for us to get the caravan through is to find the source of the magic then I guess that’s what we have to do. Follow me...”
He waits for a bit to let everyone get ready and then heads off in the direction of the magic.
(since this is favored terrain it says we can’t get lost except by magical means. Does that require a check?)
"Mostly just trying to make some coins, as far as I go anyway." Lia says with a shrug. She pushes her white hair back behind an ear as she scans the area around them while they walk. "What about you?"
Oswin shrugs back, "Just trying to avoid some unpleasantness back home. This seemed a convenient way to leave town for awhile, just didn't know I'd get stuck in a loop like this. If you don't mind my asking, those robes make you look like someone who knows a little magic, do you?"

Yes, he can do a check

All this area and uh,” he bounces a little on his toes while standing on the path “ground is new to me, but follow, I will.”
Gark thinks for a second to see if he can place where they are and what might be in that direction.

"Probably a good idea." Lia agrees with the plan to see what is sustaining this magic. "I do not know the area either, so will follow those who do."

Lia nods to the others and follows them off towards where they think the magic is coming from.
As Oswin moves to follow along, "So what brings all of you into this line of work?"
"Mostly just trying to make some coins, as far as I go anyway." Lia says with a shrug. She pushes her white hair back behind an ear as she scans the area around them while they walk. "What about you?"

“Hmmm, yes, this is the question. I am here for purpose. Very elusive that it may be.... for now, I wander.” Andivo says with a smile.
(Assuming they know each other a little bit since they were both with the caravan)
Glancing over at Andivo, Oswin will then turn and smile at the others, "Don't worry, he's a little weird, but seems a good sort to have around."
