Manfred wanders away from Dain and Ashtear, having neither the patience or inclination for the brainy work of code-breaking and heads towards the farm house. Seeing Albanus and Vulgrom talking to the child, Manfred does not interrupt, feeling intimidated by children and not wanting to intrude on the conversation.
Instead, he will take the opportunity to look around the ransacked farm house, looking for any sign of the creatures that attacked the house, or further indications of what they were looking for.
After deciphering the latest entry, "I think this is from our missing guild friend- Johan was the name?? " Taking a moment to pull out scraps of paper, to rapidly recreate the letter uncoded for the group to read, while maintaining the picture of Janice-adjusted for the child's commentary.
"First the bloody magistrate refuses to even organize a search party for the last poor farmer that went missing, and now I find out that some newbie to town arrives just three days after the first dissapearence! Theres something very wrong going on here!
Tomorrow I'm returning to the Miller's and see if theres something I missed, if that fails, then at least I've managed to make arrangements for an item to be dropped off at the tavern for me, which should aid in finding where I suspect this nest is! "
"I'm guessing he was taken here then, either where this was found, or nearby having ditched it while in action... There is more I could work through-but it would take a while. Do you think Dain and I should do that, while the rest of you explore? Preferably one more stay with us to help watch over the child. We have the rest of the house and the property to look for. And a missing mother." With that, Ashtear taps the journal in her hands against her collarbone, looking to the others for opinions. Unsure if there may be wounded, or dead on the property, and quietly annoyed at Johan for being so vague with his entry as to "newbie" and other references. Taking a moment, and bringing out some choclate, her ration, and her water, and offering it to the child. "You must be hungry, food will help."
(Used Magical Tinkering to recreate relavent portions to show the group. Also wow I really like that green colour. Huh., )
As everyone starts spreading out searching the place and talking with the child, Survivor will try and help search around the property (help for anyone who want it). Listening to the journal, "I think we should finish translating that, here if possible, rather than in town with unfriendly eyes about, and then head back to check on our barmaid. Should we bring the child with us to town? She seems fine here so far, so maybe we can leave her till we find her parents?"
Listening carefully to the translated message, Albanus will say, "Well, it seems like maybe this 'newbie' could possibly be Janice - it certainly warrants exploration. As for the item, we know that it can detect invisibility and Janice's kind can be invisible for a time...It could be that Johan stumbled upon the succubus or succubi and needed to be able to see them. I worry about the guild member even more now, and the town in general." He gestures around the room and out the door. "Can anyone sense anything out of the ordinary in this house? Any residue, scents, or anything we might be able to use? And perhaps..." Albanus gestures to the child and whispers, "...check her...just to be sure."
Looking to Survivor, Albanus initially balks at his suggestion to leave the child here. He will turn and go back to the child, "Little one, did your momma have any friends in town that we could take you to? I don't think you'd want to stay here. We can take your horses and bring you back to town after we are finished."

Manfred takes Survivor up on his offer dividing up the house and taking his time slowly, but surely picking through the overturned furniture and the broken pieces not certain the journal was the only thing the creatures were looking for.
After listening to Ashtear read the final page, Manfred strokes his mustache, deep in thought. "I think the child will be in even more danger if we take her to town, no? Especially if our suspicions of Janice is correct. We'd be bringing her right to this creature."He regards the little girl coldly. "She seems fairly resourceful -- she's managed this long on her own, as our large friend has suggested. And surely word will get back that we are the ones who've destroyed these shadows. I am even more eager to get into this creature's lair. IF we can get proof, we may be able to call for allies."

(You look around the house, With survivors help, pushing your way through the debris to the parents bedroom, you dont find anything, going back to the hall you look about and again nothing. If there was something else here youre either not seeing it, or it could already be gone. Hard to say at the moment however)

He will turn and go back to the child, "Little one, did your momma have any friends in town that we could take you to? I don't think you'd want to stay here. We can take your horses and bring you back to town after we are finished."
The girl nods slowly, not seeming to trust you all 100% yet, except for maybe Vulgrom, Albanus and Ashtear, but she seems to be warming up slowly but surely. I think I wanna stay here.. Just in case momma comes back.. But you can take the horses if you want to I guess. I'm too little to learn how to ride is what father told me. If they come back and I'm not here that would be not good. She says munching on a small piece of chocolate and staring at the image made by Ashtear before adding but I think thats what she looked like. I remember thinking how could anyone be so mean and so pretty too!
Vulgrom stands shaking his head, "Lass, I am going to be truthful here; I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks you cannot be left here alone." He rests his gloved hands on his belt, "I say we take her back to the inn. We will return when we find her parents - we can take a horse, I know how to ride. It should shorten the travel. We then decide our next move." ((I assume we now all know about the contents of that book?))
"Seems like we be needin ta check back at the inn ta see what da lad had sent there." Dain says as he helps to figure out the last page of the book. "Seems like ye got da pattern now..." He says, getting up to move off to help look through the house, and figuring he doesn't need to help with the remainder of the book.
Waving at Dain as he leaves it to Ashtear, she mumbles towards the room in general while working, "Given the strange actions of the innkeep- We might be better to ask the brother we seemed less suddenly odd or tired. I really should've prepared a tool for magic interference detection."
(It'll take an hour to read through the rest of the book. Which is what Ashtear is currently working on in the corner while folks look around or tallk to the girl. Leaving the girl is a bit illadvised, though we can set Alarms-it was several hours from town so not a speedy response. If someone has a ritual detect magic etc might be a fair use. Particularly on the child for safety considering charms and such gonig around.)
Manfred frowns as Vulgrom and Ashtear keep mentioning bringing the child into town. "We do not know how many people in town have been corrupted by the succubus, no? Bringing her to the inn, indeed the inn where this creature likely selects her victims is madness."
He sighs and looks at his feet. "Besides, the warrior who fights with one eye on someone they are protecting often fails both themselves and the person they are supposed to protect. Look, I'm not saying we abandon her here -- perhaps we can transfer our base of operations out here, or someone can take the girl to Leon? We can't keep her safe and destroy whatever evil is here. I know a few of us took some hits -- I have a song that can ease the mind and heal the soul if we want to take a breath while Ashtear finishes the journal."

"Staying here for a while isn't a bad shout." Volgrum turns to the girl and asks, "Listen lass, my friends and I need it make sure that horrible woman hasn't left any of dirty magic on ye. If you stand still for a wee moment, I can find out by placing my hands on your shoulders and whispering a prayer to the All-Father." The cleric grasps his amulet hoping this works...

Albanus walks turns to Manfred, “Can a Succubus do that? Could there be several people she can control at once?”
He’ll then turn to Aura, making a conscious effort not to be creepy, “You have some knowledge of this kind, right? Could a succubus control several people? I think we should act fast on Janice. I think she might go on the run, and soon.”
Albanus will then turn to all, “I’m conflicted about the girl. This only happened last night. At the very least, she might be able to identify a voice, no? What say you all?”
Aura stutters for a second, Albanus approached carefully so she wasn't scared, but during their rest, the Genasi seemed very focused on looking at the group of two while they translated the journal. "Well, the short answer is, it depends. Succubi are manipulators at heart, but their magical prowess in controlling people is limited to one person at a time... She couldn't have a spell at the entire town at once, but she can still and probably will use words to put people on her side if she needs to."
