As Dain reveals the trap door, Manfred watches carefully, drawing his rapier just in case. "Be careful -- remember the fiend told us to meet her in the basement of her home at sundown. I have no doubt there was some means to harm, restrain or otherwise impede us down there."
EDIT: Oh. Weird. I didn't see the other two posts. Feel free to ignore my investigation for traps if we're avoiding the 'everyone try" situation
Ashtear will attempt to check out the trapdoor, for potential well. Traps. While doing so comments towards Johan, "Do you know anything about an item that lets you see the unseen? Mild worry the other may be following" Ashtear realizes it feels quite odd that he hasn't brought up his journal, nor if there were any Messages left in it... but decidies to bring that up to the group later. But loses her trust in him little by little, between distrust, and the seemingly uncaring of Winter's blight--despite being the direct cause in all liklihood.
(In effect Ashtear is curiousu if he'll bring up the item we found in the bar storage)
Investigation 23 + 4 Guidance Pill
Additionally, Ashtear will pull out a handfull of ball bearings, each one dimly lit by her tinkering. Ready to roll down the trapdoor to give us a view. (4 ball bearings each with 5ft bright light and 5more ft dim light)
Between the two of you, youre able go quickly discern that the door is not trapped. Also it isn't locked eithernand opens up easy enough. With Ashtears ball bearing sheding light, youre able to see it looks much more like the stereotypical succubi lair, with lewd tapestries and pieces of art disorderly thrown here and there, expensive silks and such adorn a small table as well as a few shelves. Theres also a few different more notable items, 3 gold chalices sit atop one of the shelves, a tiny pink marble statue, same material as the bust on the door under the keep, atop the table. They all look like they could get a fair bit of coin for them, although you might want to sell them someplace else. (Again roll perception or investigation, whichever you prefer)
Johan nods in approval and responds to your question. Indeed I do, I'd had it ordered as i came to suspect that such creatures were responsible. I guess you were able to find it then? Might be a good idea to give it a gander, just in case.
He leans in a bit closer a moment later and whispers, as to not upset Winter. I know you want to be thorough, but I doubt the creatures keep anyone that falls for their charms alive. I'm hoping the guildmaster will know how to handle this. He may know someone that has access to powerful magic, such that could return the dead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ashtear considers Johan's statement. "Certainly true, but they kept you alive, as well as the Gnome, and a few others. Why Winter's family otherwise? Arbitrary whim? Certainly possible, gnome had a use, I'm not sure what use they had for you. They were not consistent in their methods.. But for now, promises to keep at least. and we shouldnt' travel at night either. We can't hurry along the sun after all."
Having said her piece, Ashtear crunches on a pill and gets to work--examines the room. Focusing mainly on possible hints as to Winter's Family-as well as how/what they crafted alchemically speaking, rather than potential valuables.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Albanus will look around this new room, Ah yes, now this looks more like it. He'll check to see if he can throw anything of value in his backpack - the silks, tapestries (if they can be rolled up), chalices. Before he puts hands on anything, he'll ask, "Is anything in here radiating magic? Can anyone tell?" If not, he'll pocket what he can - the chalices and statue for sure - and anything else he can manage. Investigation: 12
Johan takes a moment to look around the room as well, looking with disdain at the lewd artwork, and generally looks disgusted with the place. They kept me alive only because I resisted them. The gnome they had use for, though I suppose if given the chance they would have consumed him as well. The shades they created were for something, and that is what concerns me the most. I agree though, traveling at night would not be wise. The sooner we get back however the better.
As he speaks, Ashtear, you quickly discover that theres a tiny opening just behind one of the extravagant silks adorning the wall, and with a quick tug, it falls. Revealing a extremely small cell carved out of the sediment, barely enough room for the two people currently shoved inside. Based on family resemblance, you ascertain that the woman is Winters mother. The other however, while looking to be her father, also appears to have been tortured extensively, and looks to be unconscious although still breathing.
Albanus, the items dont appear to be trapped or anything like that, though your friends do appear preoccupied with other things at the moment, you roll up several of the tapestries and silks and can fit them into your backpack, though it'll be a bit of a tight fit with the tiny statue and chalices. (Were you waiting for someone to cast detect magic before you actually picked anything up?)
Johan looks rather surprised at the couple being alive and for the most part well enough, giving a silent nod to Ashtear and Dain.
After you get done putting the items into your bag, having to take a moment to stuff all of it in, you feel a little bit strange. Still like yourself, just, different somehow. Anyone can see though, that Albanus goes from his normal looking self, to that of a much more feminine tiefling. (After taking the statue, youre cursed with a gender switching curse, which can be removed by all regular means, easiest and cheapest would be a priest casting remove curse. If anyone else happens to touch the statue they would also incur the same curse.)
Manfred begins laughing as soon as he notices the change. "My dear friend, seems like you're not quite yourself. Hahahahahaha."He tries to compose himself and fails almost immediately, laughing again for a good long time. "You know I really needed that. I haven't laughed this hard in some time. I feel like I'm in a much better mood now. Thank you, Albanus. Or is it Albania, now?"
"Johan -- are there any temples in Summar Past? We may have to make another stop after we see our employer."
With a bit of a brief smile, "Hi, Winter sent us to rescue you." and gets to work helping the two family. While also maintaining an eye for possible weapons or charmed actions.
Medicine Check for them11 and I'll usea Cure Wounds on the father 7
(Assume Dain saw all the same things then? His investigation was fairly high as well...)
Dain would notice the things missing when he finishes his investigation of the place and nods to his companions. "Just make sure we are splitting the coin from everything if ye be taking something."
Johan takea a step back, getting a little ways away from the changed Albanus. Ah. I'm quite sure i recall seeing one or two there. They should have our "new" friend, back to our "old" friend in no time.
Meanwhile, both Winters parents look on very gratefully as Ashtear gets done casting her spell and healing the man. It takes a few minutes but your able to locate a key on one of the shelves, unlocking the small cage and letting the girls parents out. Both of which waste little time getting out of the basement and back up to where Survivor is. Once there, and spotting Winter, the three embrace each other, slightly sobbing, and stay there for awhile.
Johan hangs his head a bit somberly as he watch's the family, probably feeling slightly guilty for the troubles they had gone through.
“Eg? Oh, what’s are these? Ah, right. Don’t worry about me, it’s just skin.” Albanus moves over to the reunited family with a smile. “You have a very special daughter here, with the strength and resilience far beyond her age. I’m...I’m sorry we were too late for your son and brother.” Nodding to Dain, Albanus reassures him, “Not to worry Dain, we’ll keep track...unless you want to pet the statue now?” Albanus grins at the dwarf. We have rooms at the inn still though the fiend on the loose still bothers me.”
Aura had followed the group while still taking most care of Winter, and once the girl's parents are discovered, she lets go of Winter's hand and just watches, with a relieved sigh and a smile that slightly starts appearing on the Genasi's face. "Finally... I think it was well worth it to get into this mission..." It's then that she notices the change to Albanus, and just gasps, a bit unsure whether she should say anything or not.
"Found something here." Dain informs the others. he checks it for traps, with his tressym helping again.
