Tyranny of Dragons

As the townsfolk are exiting the temple, a half-elf comes up and says, "Thank you for helping these people. I know time is short, but please seek me out once we make it to the keep. My name Eadyan Falconmoon, priest of Chauntea."

[Everyone make a stealth check on the way back to the secret tunnel.

Rex stubs his claw on the doorframe as he’s exiting the building, “SON OF A DRAGON! MAG TARRAHK THAT HURT! MOSH GAR SMAUGING DOOR!” He then catches himself, “... ech hem... sorry. My bad...”

I'm going to use luck for the first time today because that was just trash and Arliden knows it LOL.

Arliden almost makes it out the backdoor absentmindedly strumming his lute and just before they make it outside he remembers to stop and actually try to be quiet.

She nods to Eadyan. "I will look for you, master. Soves would not be pleased if I let anything happen to you."

Novot, though not a particularly sneaky person, pulls her shit together knowing that one decent-sized group of invaders could tear these poor townsfolk apart. That can not happen.

[First roll of the game is a nat 20! Somehow, that gives me an ominous feeling...]

Fjordix ducks low, and stays behind as much cover as possible. At one point he dips his hand into the mud beside the bank of the river and smears it over his helm and armor so as to prevent any glint from catching the invaders eyes.

Arryn ducks down and tries to keep as low as he can, hustling ahead to the get behind cover. He motions for the others to follow him. 

Despite Rex's muttering, you are able to lead the townsfolk back to the keep without being detected. After you've seen to the townsfolk's safety, Governor Nighthill comes up to you.

"Thank you once again for your service to our town. Here's 10 gold for each of you [Rex, Fjordix, Monk-E, and Arliden], as promised. If you need time to rest, feel free to do so. Afterward, I may yet have another favor to ask of you." Looking over to Novot and Arryn, he says, "I don't believe we've been formally introduced, but if you've anything to do with helping my townsfolk, you have my gratitude. I am Tarbaw Nighthill. Welcome to my keep."

Rex graciously takes the gold and smiles, “Thank you. Pleasure doing business with you.” Rex finds the nearest place to take a seat and closes his eyes, “I’ll be taking a short rest if you need me. Do keep Io close to your heart.” As Rex meditates on Io and his purpose, Rex reaches level 2 and chooses Mask of Many Faces and Agonizing Blast for his invocations, and Hex as his new spell while swapping Tasha’s Hideous Laughter with Hellish Rebuke.

Edit: [Also, evidently Rex does not have a -2 to Stealth. I will remember that in the future]

Arliden plays a soft melody on the lute for a few moments before turning to everyone, "I don't know about you all but I could actually use some real rest. So feel free to wake me if something come up but I'd prefer to be more useful than I have been lately. And once we're feeling a bit more energized you," and he points at Rex, "can instruct me on the proper pronunciation of 'Io"

Fjordix takes the gold from the Governor and stows it away. He watches as everyone begins to take rests and it angers him, "Rest...there is no time to rest! A dragon rains down destruction over our very heads. We must find a way to clip it's wings and remove it's head" Fjordix's teeth gnash together and a bit of spittle flies from his mouth, his hands grip tight his pole-arm working the wooden hilt until his knuckles are pure white. 

OOC: I also obtained level 2 and have gained Action Surge! :)

After a moment of meditation, Rex’s eyes snap open and he actually looks a little shaken. He can feel new power flowing through him. He feels stronger, hardier, more powerful. He sits with a thousand yard stare for a moment before muttering, “Well... that’s new.” He hops up, with faith invigorated, smiling like a madman, “Fjordix, wanna go kill a dragon?” With that, Rex makes a show of his new power by shifting form into each of the party members and then returning back to himself. He is still giggling like a baby.

"Nice to finally meet you, Tarbaw Nighthill." Novot nods curtly. "If you're gonna ask them to help beat back these invaders, you can count on me too."

That said, she goes of to find Eadyan and see that his needs are being met... and to ask permission to help Tarbaw.

Rex looks over to Fjordix and Arliden as Novot walks away, “Hey, weren’t we supposed to meet with some guy. Hawksun... Partridgestar... Birdplanet? A voice whipsers “Falconmoon” into Rex’s mind, ”Falconmoon! That was it. Priest or something. Said for us to meet him after we got back here.”

Fjordix had already walking back towards the tunnel, eager to kill the Dragon or at the very least it's minions when Rex mentioned the priest. "Yes..." he growled begrudgingly, "We were" he turned about and walked back to Rex "Where do you think we might find the...priest" the word priest rolls off his tongue with almost a distaste. 

Rex shrugs, “Maybe that cleric we helped might know. She was with him in the lockdown. I’ll ask.” Rex uses his telepathy to ask Novot a question as she’s walking away, “Excuse me, miss, do you know a Falconmoon? My companions and I were hoping to meet with him.”

Arliden, suddenly realizing that he doesn't need nearly as much sleep as he thought, jumps up to join the rest of the group and find Eadyan.

"So Rex, can you do that disguise thing all the time? And can it look like anything, or does it have to be something or someone you've already seen."

Rex turns to Arliden, “Yup, anytime I want, as much as I want. Only restriction is that it has to be roughly the same as me. So no four-armed trolls or something like that. Or bears. Basically anything humanoid that isn’t more than a foot taller or shorter.”

Novot, surprised, looks to Rex. "Um. Sure, yeah."

On second thought. She squints at them. "What business do you have with him?"
