The various giants in the room seem to have no interest in hearing what you have to say, although they did enjoy the performance. They seem a little disgruntled at Princess Serissa's decision to see you now, but they know better than to argue with her in Maelstrom.
Mirran and Nym, the other Storm Giant Princesses, seem annoyed that Serissa will talk to you now.
3 years, wow! That is hard to believe! Happy anniversary everyone, it sure has been fun!
During the walk down the 100 foot passage from The Great Hall to the Throne Room, Nyx and Baeshra lean over to share a whispered conversation.
Uthor, the older storm giant advisor to Serissa, turns around quickly. "Harshnag, you say? What do you know of old Harshnag the Grim? I haven't seen or heard from him in five years."
Lyngheid nodded, " Harshnag was a boon companion of ours, we fought off scores of goblin-kin and other threats together. He ventured with us to the Eye of the All Father, I fear he has fallen. We came under attack from a particularly wretched and savage blue dragon there....by the name of....."
History check to recall Imyrith was the name of the dragon that killed Harshnag and to link it with the giant here by the same name: 13
You recall that the the blue dragon was named Iymrith, but the knowledge that they can change shape is unknown to you.
At Lyngheid's mention of the All Father, Serissa turns around, surprised. Before she can speak, Iymrith also spins around:
"Iymrith. There is a magnificently vile beast of a dragon that shares my name. I honestly don't know what my parents were thinking."
At this point, you all enter the Throne Room, after passing by two Hill Giants standing at the doors, who nod to Princess Serissa.
Maelstrom’s throne room resembles an amphitheater. Stone bleachers overlook an oblong chamber with a deep pool of seawater near its center. In the middle of the bleachers is an archway with two doors in it. Facing the pool and the doors are three enormous thrones. The middle one is carved from a solid chunk of obsidian, has four blue dragon skulls affixed to its base, and floats 1 foot above the floor. The two smaller thrones that flank it are made of coral and giant seashells.
Princess Serissa climbs up and sits in the middle, floating, throne. Uthor and Iymrith take the others.
Lyngheid, make an Arcana or History check with advantage.
Serissa, now seated on her throne, asks: "You went to the Eye of the All Father, hmm? What did you find out from the Oracle?"
"That is a magnificent throne Princess Serissa... was it your Father who built it? Four blue dragon skulls... four of them... that is a mighty achievement. A bane to blue dragons... are they trophies from the old war the giants fought with the dragons? It took all of us together to down a green dragon."
Nyx looks around the room, taking it in all before turning back to the Princess.
"The Oracle asked us to help to restore the Ordning. I great honour, which is why we came. To restoring the Ordning he said to travel to King Hekaton court and root out the evil that has taken hold and is responsible for the Kings disappearance."
Nyx taps her chin. "You know you can't be magnificently vile" She looks over at Iymrith. "They contradict each other, it has to be one or the other. For instance take me..." she gives a little flourish, "beautiful, gorgeous, splendid, wonderful, buxom... but vile? Nasty, noxious, repugnant? No.... the last time I said something smelled repugnant was when I said to Iymrith that Dragon's where just big lizards, with wings and bad breath. Do you remember?"
"You see I never said anything about Iymrith. I only said that we had meet someone before, with Harshnag. From what I recall, it was us" Nyx motions to the party "Harshnag and Iymrith at the Temple of the Oracle that day. So if your not the magnificently vile Iymrith, how did you know who was with Harshnag?"
"I remember hearing a song once, it was about this ancient dragon who lusted after a pure elven maiden, her skin was like fresh snow and her voice was like a bird song in spring. To make her his he learnt how to shape change, becoming a elf so he could touch what he desired...Iymrith must really desire the destruction of the giants" she says as she looks back at the throne and Serissa.
Lyngheid looked across to Nyx....she had never actually named the dragon.......
You recognize the throne as the Wyrmskull Throne, built by dwarven gods and entrusted to the rulers of the ancient dwarven empire Shanatar. You remember that it has some magical abilities, although you don't know what, and they can be harnessed by someone who possess the Ruling Scepter. You also notice that Princess Serissa is wearing a Scepter around her neck like a necklace, and you recognize that this scepter is of Dwarven make.
Iymrith's face turns to barely concealed outrage: "You come to our court, and accuse me of being a dragon?!? Everyone has heard of the blue dragon Iymrith, of course! I get that question all the time!"
She turns to Serissa: "Princess, I'm now convinced that these small folk are just here to sow further discord among the giants. I suggest you don't engage with them further. For all we know, they're the ones who murdered your mother and abducted your father!"
Everyone who is listening to this conversation make an Insight check. Nyx at advantage for the excellent discussion!
(Was going to roll insight, but I think we got that covered, lol)
Baeshra cocks his head at the indignant giant, "We did not say you never heard of it, just that we did not mention it by name, is it the only vile blue dragon in the world? Hardly, everyone knows blues are the lowest of the dragonkind. As for the absurd claim that we murdered your mother, my condolences by the way, or abducted your father, first, how? Just how? How would we have subdued a powerful giant king? Lord of the Ordning? And how would we have known where to find him to do this? Secondly, why? Both why would we want to disrupt the giants' rule in a way that not only provoked a war with the dragons but also would make us a prime target for revenge? And why would we then go through so much trouble to come here, offering to help restore the Ordning to prevent a war that would destroy everybody? Only a dragon would be arrogant enough to do something like that. In any case, it should be an easy matter to solve, a court as powerful as this, inhabited by such wise rulers, there must be someone who has an artifact or spell that can reveal a creature's true shape? Or determine the truth of it's statements? We would happily undergo the same evaluation to prove our words."
Baeshra, you aren't sure if "Iymrith" is Draconic. It's not a common name in Draconic, if it is.
Nyx and Lyngheid, you both realize that Iymrith knows more than she's letting on about Harshnag and King Hekaton. Nyx, you get the distinct impression that she is lying about Harshnag and King Hekaton, and you see that she realized she said too much with her last statement about Princess's Serissa mother being murdered and father being abducted.
Lyngheid, now that you've had a few moments to look at the Wyrmskull Throne, you remember that it can fly, and it grants the person sitting on it to cast lightning bolts. You know that it does more, but haven't heard the details. You also know that if someone sits on it that is not attuned to a Ruling Scepter, they will be paralyzed and encased in a magical force field.
" Princess Serissa's father has been abducted?", Lyngheid queried.
She had hoped the throne granted some means of truth seeing but sadly it was not the case.
" Princess Serissa, you have heard how we came to be here and our purpose."
" Is there anything we can do to prove our trustworthiness?"
" I am saddened to hear of the loss of your Mother, a mothers guidance is an important light in a young womans life and to lose such a light can leave one adrift in darkness."
" I follow the Mother of all Dwarves and she gives me many blessings. Do you still have your Mothers body in state? "
" I still have more to learn but if you will allow me when my Goddess is willing I would be pleased to do my very best in her name to restore your Mother to you should the power be granted to me."
She stepped back unsurely....she was not yet strong enough to channel such power but she had faith that one day she would be.......though she was truly unsure what Mother Truesilver would think of bringing a giantess back into the world she knew family was of utter import to her and Lyngheid.
As everyone starts talking over one another, Princess Serissa, Uthor and Iymrith stand up off their thrones. Serissa turns to Iymrith, beginning to ask a question. Iymrith curses and reaches for Serissa.
