Hearing of the danger of the gargoyle Glimbul turns to him “Four armed Gargoyle? Arnt those in the center at the bottom of this pit? They didnt look like they were real, but hearing that it must be true! This complicates things, and before we get there we should come up with counter measures.”
"Tymora be kind to your soul. This is, or was, Devlin Bashir, a member of a group called the Company of the Yellow Banner. There were four of them, but they were caught by Ras Nsi and thrown into this tomb. After encountering this gargoyle they were all killed somehow. They came here looking for the Eye, no idea what that is. They also lost something called the Starfallen. There is an elf princess and a doppleganger mentioned. Also, this guy had a staff, and he made it pretty clear with his last words he intended to keep it to the end. Well, I´m not Boosey, I can´t tell stories like him. Maybe he should take a look and see if I missed something of interest." Allister gives Boosey the journal.
Nenne's eyes flash crimson as her augmented sight returns. A brief sweep of her surroundings and she addresses the party, "Stay out of these halls," she warns, pointing to the tunnels intersecting the corridor. "Transmutation throughout. The deceased's ink pot is magical. Conjuration. And the staff is...old magic. I cannot identify it, just as I could not with the ring Badger wears."
Hearing talk of looking for an ‘eye’ he perks up. “Looking for an Eye? Do you mean the Eye of Zaltec? So it is here! Hopefully we find it on our quest.”
"I'll gladly read this. It is easy to miss vital bits of information on a single read through, I have done so myself occasionally," and he give Allister a smile. He begins to read.
„You know this thing? Seems like it’s worth a lot of some people. I also understand now why Ras Nsi didn’t fight us. He works for Acererak and brought us here so the lich can take our souls.“
He nods, “ The Eye of Zaltec is this fist-sized ruby surmounted the Great Pyramid in Nexal, capital city of the Maztican Empire. The gem is a relic of the cult of Zaltec, and its dagger-like point was plunged into the hearts of countless sacrifices.” You see his eyes light up with passion as he describes it. “It is one of the items I am destined to find in this land, to think i would find a hint of it here in this tomb is astonishing”
Nenne nods toward Allister. "I'm glad you agree with me. I said as much when we first inspected the obelisk. Why else would that snake lord allow us to live and broach this temple? Ras Nsi's aims and Acererak's are complementary at best."
She indicates the staff with her foot. "Whatever this does, it is clear it is powerful. I wish we could identify it better, but it seems it could be a useful item on our quest. I do of course worry that it might be dangerous to wield. What do you think we should do with it?"
Orvex comes forward as Glimbul says these things with his pen and parchment. He says, "Could you say that one more time? That story is fascinating." He writes as Glimbul speaks, completely involved in hearing the story.
"Take it and see if it his helpful along the way. If it is magical I don´t want to leave it behind." Allister also asks Nenne if she can tell how many days ago Devlin died. When she tells him he looks at Orvex. "They found all the cubes before we came here. Do you know anything about this man and his companions?"
"He perished twenty days ago, best I can tell. Orvex, how long have the Red Wizards been in Omu? It seems Ras Nsi is growing impatient - perhaps due to his own curse."
Orvex shakes his head and says, "I don't know who he is or who his companions might have been. The shrines all looked undisturbed when we arrived. I'm not sure how they could have come in here so recently without leaving a footprint behind."
"Scribe," the cleric intones, smiling patiently and somewhat pointedly, "I believe you neglected to answer my question. How long have the Red Wizards been in Omu?"
Orvex tucks his lips in, sighs deep, and blows out a long breath. He tells Nenne, "Maybe a tenday or so. That was before you found me in the rubble I mean. How is that relevant?"
Boosey finishes reading the journal and gives Lemon a long speculative look, then seemingly dismisses his thoughts. "It looks as though this doppleganger the journal mentions may still be in here." He taps the journal. "It was masquerading as a member of his party." He looks round at the others in turn. "It seems that we should be wary of the riddles too. Acererak is seemingly fond of tricks and misdirection, I don't think we should have too much faith in them. They may simply be designed to pique our curiosity." He sighs, "it seems their experience in this godforsaken city (sorry Moa) was similar to our own. I wonder why Ras-Nsi has allied himself with the Lich. With his affliction from the curse it doesn't make much sense. Evil rarely does, though."
"Acererak could have killed him, brought him back to life and threaten to take his soul. If he created the Soulmonger he might have the power to spare a person. And now he has a willing slave who feeds him souls and cannot escape him."
Nenne gives Orvex a long, calculating look. "Passing curiosity," she replies. She folds her arms across her chest, her armor creaking as she does so. "Nothing more." She continues to regard him in silence before she smiles again - thin and polite. "I'm simply doing my best to make note of details and possible connections. For the safety of the group, you understand."
She nods gracefully at him and turns to the rest. "Truly, why anyone would ally themselves with a being like the lich is beyond my comprehension, and a matter that can occupy many hours of philosophic debate. What is more pressing a question is whether we intend to search that sarcophagus." She points to the curved room beyond and raises her eyebrows.
Orvex taps his quill on his journal and says, "I have made sketches of most of the other rooms we have visited. I would like to do the same here, since Lemon came out unscathed. I have no desire to brave rooms like the propeller upstairs..."

Made you look.
