Any resolve to hold a steady facade melt at the gnome's blunt words and hurled dagger. Liara jumps as the dagger thuds into the rear wall, stuck fast. She looks to the room's only side door for but a moment, and manages to stammer out an, "W-W-What?" Gruta balls her hands into fists at her side and says through clenched teeth, "Answer the question." This only adds to the commander's unease. Liara's response comes slow and deliberate as she moves into a readied position, "I don't know how you found this out, but it's true. I knew dealing with those pirates was no good. I should've let them hang. I have been accepting payment from the captains Laskilar, Warlo, and Elok. Payment was to secure a blind eye from me and in return they would also ignore any ship bearing a Baldur's Gate flag."
"To use the memorial of your own men's deaths to perpetuate a deal of convenience," Nenne shakes her head. "As a cleric and a soldier, I am deeply disappointed in you, ma'am."
“Ma‘am? MA‘AM? This cheap ***** sold the lives of countless sailors just so she looked better in the eyes of her men because no ships from Baldur‘s Gate were harmed. She is responsible for murder, mutilation, families losing their fathers and husbands. Ma‘am... she is scum, vomit of a scurvy ridden orc. May she die a horrible death herself. „
"So you're on the payroll of pirates," Boosey grunts. "That makes you one yourself. I wonder what the powers that be in Waterdeep will make of this, a trusted agent gone rogue. Who else in the Fort knows about this?"
"Now hold on! There is little doubt that I am very good at my position here in this fort and I can give you a wealth of information on these pirates. We can work something out if you give me your word that you will hold up your end of any deal struck."
Boosey gestures towards Gruta. "How quickly could you have the garrison assembled and on parade?" He turns back to Liara "There is only one deal on offer here. That is you tell us everything and we don't kill you out of hand. Sound fair?"
"I daresay the men who died at your indifferent hand would have a wildly divergent estimation of your leadership," Nenne says to Liara, icy. "If you still consider yourself as 'very good', then I thank all the gods I retired. I would be disgusted to call myself an officer if it meant I had to share that title with you."
"Do the right thing for those you have wronged. Speak the truth, beg forgiveness from your men, and put your fate in the hands of your military tribunals."
"I have something to do." Allister takes his dagger, sotrms out of the room and runs to the temple. He looks for the priest, when he finds him to says "Liara confessed to her crimes. I´m deeply sorry for upsetting you and making making false assumptions. Please, forgive me. Now, if you could follow me, your service as a priest of Helm are needed." He waits for the priest to follow him to the "interrogation" room.
"I have to live with what I've done and my life is forever changed the moment you walk out that door. I can give you the location of their cove, their ship names, best attack strategies should you want to find their covend the names of other people involved in their operation. In exchange I only ask for my life and that you leave quietly. Today." Gruta seems to be on the verge of exploding more and more with every word out of Liara's mouth.
Incredibly wary of Allister, but curious to find out more about what the heck is happening, the priest follows Allister from a distance. He still carries his candlestick and watches the fighter with suspicion.
"Yes, but not until she is rotting in a cell. And as ****ed as is it, I understand this quiet bullshit. These men looked up to you! Everyone here depends on your word and your honor!" Gruta says that last word with absolute venom.
"OK, how do we bring her quietly to a cell? How do we stop her from making a scene? You can´t keep a lid on this for long. Your guys outside probably heard us, who knows who´s helping her and making plans right now. In fewer words, what´s next?"
Nenne steps right up to Liara. Drawing herself to her full height (6ft/1.8m), she looks intently into the commander's eyes. Her expression is both hard and searching.
"A soldier who values her life more than that of her men will and should be judged harshly," she says, quiet. She pauses. "I am not that judge. I do serve him, though, and I would have you meet him many years hence, with a life of atonement to lay upon his scales.
"Even though you disgrace your office and value yourself above others, I can tell there is still love in your heart for these men under your command. Tell me true, soldier - is this fort so fragile that a public confession will lead to chaos in the ranks?" She turns to Gruta, silently asking the same question.
"If we leave tonight, we leave with you to deliver you to justice. This is non-negotiable."
Gruta shrugs at Nenne's question and motions for the group to move in closer away from Liara's hearing, "I don't know. This place is hell and we have enough trouble with AWOL soldiers already without having an ******* for a commander. The politics of this make things difficult and it looks like she's being tight lipped now that she's given her demands. I hope hell has a special place for her. We can put her in the cell in that room." She indicates the adjoining door before continuing, "It's reserved for difficult prisoners. I say we tear her room apart before agreeing to any of her terms."
Boosey's grin doesn't waver as he looks Liara in the eye. "Warned you," he says, simply.

“Better take it. Quickly.“

Sthara leans over to Funderburk and whispers, "Isn't this just exciting? We are interrogating a pirate sympathizer." She grins.

"That sounds to me like you are expecting someone? Who?"
Once Allister is back he whispers to Gruta "Can you tell me where her quarters are? We should search them."
"Yes, but not until she is rotting in a cell. And as ****ed as is it, I understand this quiet bullshit. These men looked up to you! Everyone here depends on your word and your honor!" Gruta says that last word with absolute venom.

"OK, I´m in. Who watches her in the meantime?"
Gruta proposes an even split. Three stays here and two more goes with her in search of whatever might be in her room.
