Simaal follows quietly, shield in hand, other hand free. As before when entering the city he seems to try and absorb everything within sight considering how foreign it is from anything previously encountered.
A mystical, powerful, flying rainbow snake creature shimmers into existence near Mirica. You're currently inside the big strut still, where it presses against the middle of the main tower. There's no real "open" space for the Couatl to fly about, but it can fly towards the two windows above the doors. It does so. As it flies that way, the blue skinned creature in the window looks at it "meaningfully". (Roll wisdom save for the Couatl.)
Toc meanwhile looks to Jezun, mentally responding to his question about secrets, "I do not have many secrets Jezun. But the secrets I keep our purposeful. That said, I must admit, I have considered making a copy of Chen just so he can cook for us. Do you think that would be bad?"
Xemnez had not been one to linger for the answer. It would come in due time. And if not for the convenient distraction that was his bumbling into some magical elevator system, the enhancement to his hearing from the bejeweled leather cap might've served him well in over-hearing some truth.
Be all that as it may have been, Xemz' eyes narrow at the blue-skinned figure, yet words would not be forthcoming for the Leonin. He'd -hear- the creature's response and take in its measure in the meantime. The 'meaningful' at Mirica's companion is not lost to him as well, as he'd soon tighten the grip on his axe...
At first, Thyrius is not sure what to do here. He waits for the report from Mirica's creature.
Then, noticing his brother's mistrust of the blue creature's stare, Thyrius puts his hands behind his back. This is a simple trick of misdirection, as the black cat remains ready to attack as soon as his brother does.
(OOC: May I belatedly say that Thyrius switched proficiencies from survival to investigation after completing the recent long rest through his Whispers from the Dead feature?)
The Couatl flies up towards the window with the blue creature in it. At first, it pauses in mid air, shaking it's head as if struggling to continue, but then quickly enough, it seems to press through and flies further up so it's close to the blue creature in the upper window. Everyone seems to pause down below and watch this interaction, waiting to see what happens. As the Couatl gets closer, the things eyes seem to flash with silvery light as it glares intently at the approaching creature. The Couatl doesn't seem to be affected by anything though.
The Couatl calmly speaks back to Mirica with it's telepathy, "I see no other creatures through this window, other than the one that is here."
The creatures eyes flash silver again. Once again to no effect. The slim flying snake with feathery wings looks back at Mirica, "What now?"
(Just to be SUPER clear....here is the map again....so you all know where you are.)
The forcefield protects the whole inner tower, with Mythallar, as well as extends out down the tube to Y6. The only obvious place to perform the ritual is at Y6. You did so. Then walked forward and went "up the tube" from Y6 to Y19. You are now at Y19, in the tube still, facing doors that enter the main tower.
The Mythallar is at Y23. If you can freely pass through the force fields now, then you should be able to just go back down the tube back to Y6 and walk over to Y23. The brothers, when leaving the Mythallar the first time, just "walked across the city" from Y23 to the exit.
"Could you please check the entrance below? The one that leads directly to the Mythallar? Is there still the force field or can we walk through? And whether or not there are other creatures around the Mythallar." The tube turned out not to be the safe entrance - who knows what the blue creature is - and if they could return and enter the right chamber directly, it seemed more practical.
Simaal looks up longingly as if up to a long lost forlorn lover, surrendering to the inescapable descent towards the inevitable loss of knowledge sitting so close within his grasp. Eons of ancient tomes pouring through his hands as if sand. He follows the group saying little.
Couatl has Telepathy 120 ft, is the tower toller? I mean, from the ground to our spot? Vertically? And what did he say on the go? When exited the tube?
The tube goes further than 120 feet, so the Couatl was no longer able to communicate with you before he reached the end of the tube. Either way, Mirica urges the group to withdraw. The blue skinned creature in the window watches impassively as you all float away. Back down at the bottom of the long tube, just beyond the entrance, the Couatl is flying, hovering back and forth slightly. Even from just inside the tube, you can't hear any mental thoughts from the thing. Only after you emerge from the tube and pass through where the field was, can the creatures thoughts reach you once again.
The Couatl talks telepathically to everyone at once, "Ahhh, there you are. I could not sense you. I left this tube as directed, and flew towards the central area, but met a force field on the way and could not get through it. Then I returned to here and was unable to get back into the tube, as the same force field was here."

It was half expected but still irritating. Mirica tried to return to the tube first but if the Force Field returned for the group too: "Guess we have to repeat the ritual and this time enter into the mythallar chamber directly?" Mirica looked at the magic circle - are the signs still shining?
Should the field affect only the Couatl, Mirica will try to enter the Mythallar chamber herself.
"Your creature wasn't part of the ritual, so it can't move past the barriers." Thyrius explains the obvious, more for his own benefit than anyone else's. "It makes me think we could have all momentarily jumped in my brother's portable hole, let him perform all of the ritual, then bypass the force field and let us free on the other side. Something to keep in our back pocket should we ever face another similar hurdle."
The black cat then follows the group as they advance toward the Mythallar. While walking, he speaks a few words in his native tongue.
"This is a good idea and worth a try."Not necessarily the hole, Mirica had her Bag of Holding, and for Couatl to turn into a mouse or a fly would not be a problem. She asked the Couatl to climb into the bag and tried to bring him with her into the Mythallar chamber.
The two lion warriors talk in their native tongue as they move lithely across the slick black stones of the ancient city. The ever present cold air continues to embrace you, stinging bare skin and issuing puffs of mist with each exhale of the group members. Toc follows near the back, his tall automaton walking just behind him with loud clunkly footsteps. Mirica walks along, her summoned celestial temporarily taking refuge in her bag of holding, which seems to work to get it past the field. Soon enough the flying snake is once again out and flying over the group. Jezun walks casually beside everyone looking around at the massive structure above them in wonder. Both Russel and Simaal are like shadows that travel in the wake of the group.
The central tower is amazing enough on it's own. It must be nearly 400 feet tall, and ancient. The thing was clearly damaged in the fall, but still somehow stands strong and solid. As you approach the central area of the Mythallar, the massive pillars that the central tower is perched upon reach out like so many massive tree trunks, widening as they merge with the ground. Between these massive stone pillars you catch a glimpse of the Mythallar and the chamber beyond.
The chamber is a semi-open structure. The ground, and walls, such as they are, are made of the same solid black rock of the city, smooth and a bit glassy, like glazed pottery. Four large pillars arch up and over the chamber and support the sizeable structure above. The ghostly light green haze of the cities magical lighting peers in between the gaps of the pillars to provide only a dim light beyond. The inside of the room under the curved pillars is covered in runes, etched into the dark rock and barely visible. Sitting in the room, off center and set to one side, is a 50 foot wide sphere, appearing to be made of steel. The sphere rests on a stand that looks to be made out of grey metal. Though the sphere is resting on the large stand, it rotates as if it is hanging freely, lazily spinning in an off-axis direction. The ruins of one of the tall hammer wielding creatures with a mouth in its chest rests crumbled on the floor. Otherwise the chamber beneath the tall tower is silent and quiet.
Wide stairs lead down from between the gaps in the pillars into the room that is slightly sunken below the level of the rest of the city.
(each of the square hallway like spots around the room lead out, between the pillars, and into the city.)

Thyrius looks for any portals or signs that this mythallar's power is being sucked into another realm/sphere.
Turning to Toc but speaking mentally: "It would appear the mythallar was left unattended for now. Surely, this condition won't last long. Why don't you get started with whatever it is you need to do to it while things are still quiet?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Xemnez is on edge from the moment the group enter the chamber. But while his brother had been on the lookout for portals, the not-so confident younger brother strained just about every senses possible for any signs of Auril or a guard laying in wait and somehow blending in the stonework.
Even if he should pick up on nothing, the leonin would merely push on towards loosely circling the immediate area of the Mythallar for any signs of scratches in the floor that might designate a direction of movement. A futile effort given the all too likely hood of her flying off, but.. he had to try. 'Remind me, again of how we are to secure it. You mentioned before that touching is definitely a no-go, so...'He trailed off there on that mental query to all.
After all the troubles they've been through, Mirica did not feel like sightseeing anymore and considered more practical matters, like exits from the room. "Toc, that might be the time to summon your elves to secure that Mythallar. While we are checking the tower." For now, "tower-checking" duties were entrusted to the Couatl (on her part). The celestial creature was flying around making sure nothing and no one hides from his Truesight.
