"Is that a person?!" she asks as she hears the noise. Thinking that it might've come from someone trapped by the spiders, Vera would cautiously try to get a little bit closer to investigate (but not close enough to be in melee range).
“Sure there was a mysterious deep cave nearby...what of it? The best truffles grew there, and I was not afraid,” thinks the halfling, muttering again in his native language. Calling out while trying to suppress his panic, Miles says, “Anyone out there? I could use some help.”
He never saw the thick strand of webbing that hit him and quickly wrapped him up, and he lost consciousness several times as he felt himself descending deeper and deeper below the ground. And now, here he was, dangling upside down for who knows how long, just waking up at the sounds of battle. Now, just silence. Is he doomed to die here, alone, never to taste the sweet nectar of a perfectly brazed coney again?

Vera gingerly moves closer to the the writhing sack of silk. Unable to tell exactly what may be inside it, she glances quickly to the group before cutting a small hole into the webbing and quickly stepping back; waiting to see what might come out.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Miles:
First one small finger pokes its way out of the hole in the silk sack, then another follows as the figure within writhes around. The fingers curl around the outside and you hear a grunt of effort.
Athletics Check: 9
With a ripping sound, a small figure spills onto the ground--apparently a halfling. Clad in dingy white clothes and quite worse for the wear, a pack of kitchen implements spills out over the floor as he lands heavily, laying still for a long moment before looking up and saying, "Hello there. Thanks for cutting me loose."
”Knox, Vera,” the halfling says to each in turn as he gets unsteadily to his feet, “Yes, I am quite fortunate indeed that you came along when you did. I am Miles, assistant chef at the Warm Hearth tavern in Bryn Shander. I was ambushed by spiders—webbed from behind—and dragged deep into the bowels of the world, it would seem.”
Miles starts gathering his cooking implements and putting them back in his pack. The thick cold weather clothing he wears appears to have shielded him from the worst of the bumps and bruises along the way, and with a shrug at the relative warmth below, he packs away his outer coat as well.

Jhhazaal is slightly amazed at this halfling's luck. he shrugs though. "Name's Jhazaal." The goblin says, offering the halfling a hand in greeting. "Best not tarry here long though, as I don't know what else might come along..." he looks to the path ahead and the other two goblins leading the group. "Should we keep moving?" he asks them once the halfling is ready to continue.
Paquinal would like to inspect the Spectator. Does he see anything out of place. I mean, it's not everyday something like that shows up out of nowhere.
"Damn, I wanted it alive." He says under his breath.

Still somewhat dazed, Miles shakes Jhazaal’s hand and says, “Uh, yes. I suppose more danger could be on the way. Lead on. I’m afraid there won’t be many ingredients for me to use to fix a meal for you as thanks for saving me, but at least I can help with defense—safety in numbers and all.” As he speaks of danger, Miles pulls out a well-worn rolling pin and rests it on his shoulder. Breaking suddenly out of his rambling, he asks, “So, what’s your story? Where are we headed—back to the surface?”

"You're lucky to have survived that...and whatever that creature we just fought was." Vera replies pausing for a moment to turn back and look at it and Paquinal who had approached it. "We're currently on the run from Drow slavers and headed towards somewhere in the Underdark we believe will be a temporary safe haven for us; you're welcome to join us if you'd like Miles." Finally turning back to their goblin guides, "I think it might be best to leave this area before any spiders or something worse finds us."
”Definitely, let’s get out of here!” responds the weary halfling, as the blood inside his small body starts flowing more normally now that he is upright.

Jhazaal glances to the webs they are walking upon, and then to the others of the group. he runs his hand over his bald goblin head as he seems to make a decision. "Me have great way walk." He says in his uncooth goblin way of speaking common. "No you get worried, ok?" He meets each of your eyes from his diminutive height, then nods again. A moment later his body begins to twist and reshape, until a spider is standing where he once stood.

Soon the wolf-spider that Jhazaal has wild-shaped into gives the approximation of a nod, then turns to follow once the goblins begin to lead the way once more.
(I would chastise you, but I may or may not have also done that in the past. To this very campaign.)

Question DM, how long does the confusion on Knox last, did it fade with the creature's death or does it last beyond that?
Also, delays are no problem, this is pbp, we are flexible :)

Jhazaal glances to the spider silk (bundle?) and then to the othre goblins. "Any idea what that sound is?" He asks them.
(So the spectator is dead, correct? Not just like unconscious?)

Knox having recovered from his confusions, looks between the dead creature and Jimjar.
"My apologies Jimjar, my reasoning systems seemed to have gotten muddled there for a moment."
"I did not intent to hurt you."
"Do you need any healing or are you ok?"
As the group notices the noisy silk sack, Knox readies himself for more fighting, coming forward to stand by Vera as she cuts the sack.
