"Here." Huarache pulls out his magical satchel and sets it on the ground. "Pass me that device, eh?"
OOC: On the subject of whether it would work, I would argue that it would in the same way that Message would work: if it doesn't have a direct line of sight to the target, it can go through certain lengths of certain substances, or the range can curve around corners and through openings. The bag doesn't perfectly seal because it's held shut with straps (maybe not all BoHs, but Huarache's has straps for flavor), so the signal from the device could travel from the opening of the bag to the big magic coffin.
You've been walking along the river's West bank south of the city. You're plan was to head East (the other side of the river). Ctenmiir is levitating over the river. Your party brought a folding boat. You have received a supernatural charm, which you can identify on a short rest.
"I think a bag of holding is a bad idea." Leann says as she holds the device. "Let us just keep a better watch over it." She starts back down the river, heading to where they have the coffin levitated up above the water. "Can you lasso the coffin and pull it towards the shore, or do we just let it drop back into the water, then use the control device to walk it to the shore?" She asks, glancing to the others.
She turns to the one who has the boat. "Or should we use your boat, lower the coffin into the boat, with us in it, and then cross the river?" We want to be on the opposite side anyway..."
"I can raise and lower the coffin as needed, so if we wish to cross the river, someone only need push it, and we can move Ctenmiir to the other side of the river while he stays clear of it, and then lower him. Or if we wish to go downriver, I can unfold the boat and then lower him into it,"Dorian explains. "Either option will work. It sounded like before we met that creature we were going to simply cross."
Ok, you do that. it happens. Does everyone else cross the river? If you use the boat, it must be in it's small configuration or it might be damaged by rocks along the banks of the river as it unfolds to the larger size. The swim requires a DC 8 arhletics check or risk drowning. If you're saves by a party member you'll gain 1 level of exhaustion. Or, you could take the boat across in two sorties with 4 passengers each, pulling it back to the west shore with a rope.
I'm just assuming nobody wants to take a dip here. If you want to do something else, declare it, otherwise this happens and you're all safe on the East bank.
Do you head East, as planned, or change your course?
If the river is 100 feet across or narrower, then Huarache has enough rope to pull the boat back for another trip, and I imagine that other people also have rope. Otherwise, he can cast Enhance Ability twice to help people make it across. Are there fish in this river? I just want to know in case it becomes necessary.
Also, Huarache can cast Identify on the lotus charm if now's a good time.
If Huarache wants to help people across, Dorian can help with that as well -- he can either make someone weigh half as much, if Huarache wants to carry them across, or he can double their weight and give them advantage on Strength checks (probably most useful for Huarache himself). He can only do one person at a time, but the number of times is unlimited. As Dorian only weighs 42 pounds himself, he'd definitely ask for a lift over.
I would argue that the strongest characters should be given advantage on Strength checks, and the weaker ones like Huarache and Dorian should take the boat. The boat is practically guaranteed, and a strong person with ADV on STR checks is practically guaranteed as well.
Yaren's instrument can cast Fly, but can't cast it again until the next dawn. He also has Mending to fix the boat if parts of it get broken. Also, two trips would probably be the most optimal.
Yaren will also make a Perception check to look around(adding Guidance). 18 + 2
"Yes, hang on to that charm," Shutorn says to Vernell as he climbs into the boat with the others for one of the trips across. "It's highly likely to have supernatural properties."
"Given that the river, even here at its mouth, is too shallow for all of us to ride in the boat together," he says while they cross, "I see no reason not to leave its course and immediately set out overland directly for Port Castigliar."
By strength ingenuity, strength and preparation, the lot of you, Ctenmiir included make your way safely across the river. You've spent a day walki g through the jungle, including the river crossing. You can take a long rest. I'm assuming you'll rotate watches. The night is uneventful. As Shoturn has said, the party will continue East.
Charm of Restoration. This charm has 6 charges. You can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells: greater restoration (4 charges) or lesser restoration (2 charges). Once all its charges have been expended, the charm vanishes from you.

Huarache starts forming a length of rope into a lasso. "I'm down for either."

"I can lasso the coffin and pull it wherever we need," Huarache offers, refastening the straps on his bag.

Nothing is sacred.
Nothing is impossible.
Also I stan Tomoe for life
I'm also pretty weak, so I should probably go in the boat.
