Both Ink and Crownsguard know, in their own ways, that this ceremony has gone horribly wrong. Ink can tell that whatever this is, it is not a result of divine magic, but he doesn't know what exactly could have caused it. Crownsguard suspects abyssal influence, as if demonic power is flowing through some sort of conduit. 

Matrix, having been expecting something like this immediately springs into action! Running forward he quickly dips his hands and hat in the basin of holy water (action surge!) And turns to the inky blackness as his eye spins around and starts to glow red "Gods, I hate being right" before slashing at the shadow with the blade of his hat, followed by two fast jabs!

As Matrix strikes with his hat and fists at the writhing blackness, an unnatural, high-pitched scream emanates from the ichor, and the human monk is thrown back against the doors of the altar room, taking 4 bludgeoning damage.

The high hammer rushes to the nearest downed acolyte. 

What happens next is a flurry of activity...

The acolytes all rise to their feet, grab their warhammers, and charge at you! Their eyes are a void of blackness.

The first acolyte attacks the high hammer, who is surprised at the sudden, unprovoked rage. He manages to block the blow, though it staggers him a little. "What are you doing, brother? Stop this madness!" He implores his attacker.

The other acolytes rush Crownsguard and Dontontion, swinging their hammers against those they had only moments ago blessed upon entry to the temple!

Attacking Don: 20 Damage: 7 bludgeoning

Attacking CG: 6 Damage: 6 bludgeoning

The black, writhing mass in the air seems to be growing. The piercing, ear-splitting sound is getting louder as the mass grows.

The accolyte swings the hammer at Dontontion who dodges it. It still manages to clip him but wasn't as effective as it looked initially. //Uncanny Dodge//

Don casts Hex on the accolyte and then spins around and hits with his two silver daggers, slicing into the sides of the accolyte.

Dontontion's daggers plunge deep into the acolyte, stopping his attacks and making him fall instantly to his knees as his body gives out. 

"NO!!" The high hammer yells, still in combat with one of his other acolytes.

Bleeding out, the dwarven acolyte slumps to the ground, and the blackness leaves his eyes. Then, the life flees from his eyes too, as his last gurgling breath leaves his chest. 

Dontontion looks shocked... "I didn't mean to... he just came at me."

"Flint, Robot kill that thing, we can handle the possesed...." after seeing Don kill the acolyte he sighs "non lethal!" Before running up to the nearest possesed and punching him in the face followed by a quick elbow. Intending to KO not kill-o

 The acolyte dodges the first blow before getting an elbow in the face. He staggers, stilled possessed and active, and readies to swing his hammer at this new target...

Flint looks up from the dead dwarf and grits his teeth, he calls his spiritual weapon and casts sacred flame, both targeting the mass.
