"oh, well then here you go" Rip hands him 6 gold peices "that extra one if for being a good sport about all this, kindness deserves reward i say"
"Well thank you good sir, that extra gold will go towards the Talking Troll Theatre renovation fund. Please give Father Loomshank my best, and tell him to get himself to Red Larch already."
Oh and flint will talk to the priest about his alcoholism. "Me Sargent always said 'tis a sorry dwarf who stays in his cups past breakfast!'"
"Yes...I think perhaps I was in despair over my being unfairly treated. Temple politics and all. I assure you, I have no intention of imbibing that much alcohol ever again."
"Well ah don't know 'bout temple politics. Moradin's followers see things differently than you humans. Which ain't ta say we got'na problems, we just don't go stabbin' each other'n th' back."
"Will do!" Rip runs out to the party at a brisk pace "found it!"
The priest smiles. "Ah, thank you master Halfling! My supplies are in there, I require them for healing. Very good! If you would show me to this afflicted woman, I'll help you out before departing to my post at the All-Faiths Shrine."
"Well ah don't know 'bout temple politics. Moradin's followers see things differently than you humans. Which ain't ta say we got'na problems, we just don't go stabbin' each other'n th' back."
“Sounds perfectly wonderful to me,” the priest sighs.
It doesn’t take long once you arrive at the tower. The priest introduced himself (“Silvarren Loomshank, priest of Helm, at your service”) to Darathra. Then, a short conversation with Tolmara, where she identifies him as a grape-eater.
“Yes, I can help her,” Father Loomshank says. He holds out his hand to Rip. “My pack, if you please?”
"here you go good sir" Rip hands him the pack, perception 8 to see if Rip notices Angel tense up, and religion 19 to see if he knows Helm
Since Angel was standing behind Rip he didn’t perceive any tension from the Aasimar. Rip knows a bit about Helm—sometimes called the guardian, the watcher, or the guard, Helm is the god of vigilance and protection. In legends, he is honorable and keeps his word to a fault; and who favor Helm strive to be alert, clear-headed, and true to their word.
Father Loomshank thanks Rip for the pack, and pulls out a string with dangling beads. Putting the string around his collar like a necklace, he then touches Tolmara’s head and bows his own. He begins a chanting prayer, conferring a blessing on her through Helm.
He then touches a bead on his necklace and says, “Be thou restored!” Tolmara jerks backwards and says nothing for several seconds. A look of dawning realization and utter shame is creeping onto her face. Gone are the toothy smile and the wide eyes, replaced by a wrinkled and sober visage framed by her still-matted hair.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Tolmara I understand that you just regained your sanity but we have some questions to ask you. I’m Angel and these are my friends. We’re investigating the murder of Mirak. Did you lock him away with the snake in order to kill Mirak?”
Angel says trying to be very sincere. Regardless of her answer he will be studying her body looking for any signs of deception.
Through a series of questions and hesitant answers, you learn that Tolmara indeed was Mirak's killer. She confesses to killing him, stating that she had discovered he was having an affair, and it felt like something inside her snapped. Darathra seems grimly resolute in her posture.
After getting the answers from Tolmara, Darathra turns to the priest, saying, "Father Loomshank, thank you for your assistance."
Darathra then turns to you all and leads you out of the tower jail. Once in the main lobby, she says, "I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention. I derive no pleasure from this turn of events...it was a crime of passion over a decade ago, and justice served would hardly even have a purpose here...but I am glad for the Hysstrym brothers' sake. Now I believe I have a job to take care of. Tolmara's sentencing will have to wait until after I've been able to raise the militia."
The priest, Silvarren Loomshank, bids you a quick farewell. "I'd better be off to Red Larch. The day is getting on! I cannot thank you enough for paying my debt, but hopefully this assistance brings us close to even."
He sets off at a brisk pace south, towards the Long Road. "Goodbye!" he calls.
//at work so I'll summarize, sorry to be out of character//
Flint will have stayed with the priest to fill him in on the Tolmara's condition and advise him the job will probably involve some counseling.
Flint would prefer we take a wagon rather than individual mounts, cheaper overall and better for hauling.
Flint won't mind selling the ring to Foehammer, especially if he can geta plate suit out of it, but the ring may be more important intact.
Oh and flint will talk to the priest about his alcoholism. "Me Sargent always said 'tis a sorry dwarf who stays in his cups past breakfast!'"
