Marav begins to look around, especially looking for tracks of these barbarians.
Survival: 20
Marav can with his finely-tuned senses that there was a mass exodus from this place some weeks ago, after a heavy rain. There has been some precipitation since then, and freshly fallen leaf-blankets now cover the ground, but the trampling of grass and sod is still apparent. These depressions run to the side of the road as it leaves town. Perhaps if they were to follow these tracks they might discover more, but Marav knows that tracking a quarry who passed through weeks ago is most often a fool's errand.
// There is no library as all the structures have been flattened and put into the ground... if memory of the field serves me correctly. Away, please correct if I'm remembering this wrong - thanks! //
//Assuming all that works out... Investigation - 23 + 3 = 26 //
The buildings have indeed all been flattened, and Ink follows Rip's direction to find books and scrolls that have been out in the elements, their pages sullied and ruined. However, with Flint's help Ink is able to uncover a trap-door entrance to what was the basement portion of the library. The only problem is that it is blocked by a heavy crossbeam.
Looking at Flint, Ink says sarcastically, "Don't suppose you think the giants would help, would you? Either wait, best wait for the group to gather, first."
Turning to the others, Ink calls out, "Oy - we found a trap door - but there's a heavy cross beam blocking it... Let's all put a little muscle into it and see if we can't get it out of the way!"
While waiting for the other, Ink will try to determine what the best way to get the crossbeam out of the way is (perhaps leverage with a heavy sword, or digging around it to make space, etc).
Ink relays to Flint what he's trying to discern, asking for advice and help given Flint's mechanical prowess, and perhaps a little guidance to boot!
// Investigation check: 17 ... if Flint helps (advantage) 5 ... if Flint gives some 'guidance' 2 //
The other debris around would make for a poor lever, but something sturdy (such as a long-hafted weapon) might help. If you have two people working together with a lever, you can make a Strength check with Advantage.
// Okay - who's the strongest person?... I'm including Lady Hawkwinter in on this inquiry - and proficiency in athletics is a bonus (just in case).. which oddly enough, Ink is proficient in, although he has no bonus modifier on strength... LOL //
//Rip can use thunderwave "In addition, unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 10 feet away from you by the spell's effect" if Away okays it//
//Rip can use thunderwave "In addition, unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 10 feet away from you by the spell's effect" if Away okays it//
// You can certainly try! I'll need you to make a spell attack if you do. //

Lady Hawkwinter certainly looks capable. In an arm-wrestling contest between her and Flint, it'd be a close bet. She is following behind closely, grumbling about stone giants and not being very trustworthy.
// Can make a good case for the Athletics skill here? Or some other way to use the proficiency bonus...? //
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
//wouldn't it just be me casting the spell/using the spell slot?//
"let me try something, help me clear around the beam real fast then get back about 20 feet" after clearing the beam and once everyone is clear Rip will cast thunderwave
25 for the spell attack if i need it for 5 cause why not lol

// I had just assumed Athletics as a skill could be used when doing something Athletic, as you would know how to use your own body to better leverage its natural strength... for example, proper lifting technique in this case... like Flint and Ink have done enough "working out" (lol) to know how to properly lift that bar to use the most their body is capable of... for example, as seen in every dept of labor and osha required poster - lift with your legs not with your back! //
// Sweet...just need a check from Angel/Rip if Angel is amenable to Rip's suggestion (if so it will be a Wisdom [Perception] check with Advantage). //
