Flint first looks towards the stable, the largest building besides the Inn and the Temple (neither of which had anything suitable to his recollection). The several horses inside shied away at his presence, but he thought that perhaps the railings that lined the loft could perhaps be useful. But they were still attached, and would require tools.
Then Flint's gaze fell on the neighboring watchtower—the ladders! They were 20 feet long, more than long enough to span the gap and create a makeshift solution. And there were several of them; one in each watchtower.
"Right, the ladders!" Flint drains his tankard, pulls two ladders down and drags them back to the inn where he refills his tankard before bringing the ladders to the bridge. He'll also bring several pieces of scrap to lay across the rungs once the ladders are in place.
When Flint gets close enough, he asks those across the bridge "How fares Lady Velrosa?"
The guard hesitates to answer, and looks to Ink, the elf next to her.
"Hail dwarf! Unfortunately, Lady Velrosa fell during the attack. From what I've been told, debris fell on her during the chaos brought down by the giants..." taking a small pause, "she did not survive." Addressing the group as a whole, "May I ask again, what brought you all to Nightstone? And who were those individuals you fought last night?"
Marav pull some rope out of his pack and silently begins to help Flint. When he leans down he whispers to the dwarf, "Help me keep an eye on these newcomers, I am suspicious of any guard who survive something like this."
Seviari will answer, "We simply heard that there were problems with goblins in Nightstone, and were asked to come solve that problem." Sev then looks around for dramatic effect, then waves at the destroyed bridge, "It seems like the problem got a little bit bigger than goblins though."
Hearing this, Flint pauses to say a prayer to Moradin, followed by a long draw from his tankard. He then stands and addresses the pair across the gap. "We're here on behalf o' the Lords Alliance. Lady Verosa, rest 'er soul, sent fer us. Those we fought an' run off last night were Zhents lookin' ta take advantage o' yer plight 'ere. Now, let's get ta straight talkin', we got work ta do."
With Flint and Marav working to collect the ladders and needed scrap, it takes barely 15 minutes before the bridge is roughly patched over and decently secured with rope from Marav's pack. The guard, Kalen, helps from the other side, pulling the ladders to where they're supposed to go.
It's not a permanent solution by any stretch, but it'll serve for the time being.
There's nothing standing in the way now of traversing the bridge between the keep and the village.
Looking at the uncooked chickens, Flint grabs his gear and start across the bridge (325 pounds alltogether). "Ye got'ny food on yer side elf? Let's find the kitchen."
Seviari will answer, "We simply heard that there were problems with goblins in Nightstone, and were asked to come solve that problem." Sev then looks around for dramatic effect, then waves at the destroyed bridge, "It seems like the problem got a little bit bigger than goblins though."
QUOTE FROM RIP ""Hello there! we are from the Lords Alliance, and were tasked with aiding you with a goblin problem. Seems your problems have escalated since then.... would you like something to read?" Rip pulls out a couple of his graphic novels "the first issue is free!""

"Two Three forthright answers - much appreciated friend elf and friend dwarf. Seems like we are similarly aligned. You all may call me Ink. I was dispatched from Silverymoon sent here to warn Lady Verosa of a likely giant attack. Unfortunately, it is painfully obvious that I was sent out too late. When I arrived yesterday all was still, until my owl," he points up to a grayish owl circling above," caught the end of your fray yesterday with the Zhent, it seems."
Continuing, "Apologies for being overly cautious and standoffish, but you are many and we are few, and I had no idea who you were."
"As you mentioned, it seems that we have a larger issue to deal with now. I don't know what your overseers would think, but part of my mission is to spread the word of this giant activity and perhaps look into it more. These were not Hill giants that stormed through, but massive cloud giants descending from their sky castle. Strange tidings. Very strange."
Through all this, Ink continues almost staring at the dwarf and elf, trying to pick up on the most minute of details. (Perception 8)
Ink calls out to Rip, "I'd be happy to read your book - what's it about?"
i guess you all missed Rip answer some of the questions lol, he will walk across the bridge and hands Ink a copy of the first issue of the graphic novel. "Here, it's a good read even if you can't! so there's a goblin with a brightly colored hat, he is with us so please don't hurt him. He is going to help us rout out the Goblins lair." Rip never drops his car salesman smile or Jovial tone as he shakes Inks hand and is giving him the book "Rip Dangerfield, Adventurer Extraordinaire! and this is my merry band! if you haven't heard of us yet don't worry, you will." He then hurriedly catches up with Flint.
"where did you find the ale Flint, and why didn't you get me any? thought we were drinking buddies."
// Sorry about that Gimpster, missed it - but edited my response accordingly. //
"You are quite excitable - and thank you for the book.... I feel like I've just been mugged, somehow," Ink says turning to Kalen, "Also, did he just say that there's a goblin with a brightly colored hat?"
// Anyone helping Flint with any of this? Or just standing around like lemons for an hour while he does all the work? ;) //
//Solace was helping Flint with whatever he was trying to do building the rope bridge or ladder ? IDK lol//
Insight check the new folks after all that's been said as well as what was said about Lady Velrosa having fallen 11 investigation too for their clothing if anything stands out to Solace as being who they say they are and are townspeople of Nightstone 3
//apparently I only get to have a single good roll in a session//
Ink stating to the crowd of adventurers, "I had started to do some research in the library upstairs to see what I could find on THE Nightstone, and perhaps gain some insight as to why those cloud giants descended upon this town. Any of you are free to join me."
Continuing, "Also, now that the goblin threat has been handled, what's your next move?"
Upon entering the keep, Solace (and anyone with her) sees that half of the great hall lies buried under rubble. The four remaining guards have placed the body of LadyVelrosa Nandar atop the shattered remains of an oak dining table, in lieu of the ability to bury here in the Nandar crypt in the north of the village. She is dead, indeed, and with Solace's training in Medicine it is easy to ascertain that the multiple crushing wounds were the cause of death.
The great hall obviously once served as a throne room and a dining room. Two doors in the west wall lead to separate rooms, one looking to be a kitchen and the other a den. Between these doors is a wooden staircase leading up to the second floor.
Seeing the lady on the table Solace says a prayer to Tymora and wishes Lady Velrosa a good journey. Then having overheard the plans of trying to figure out what brought the giants to Nightstone she offers her help having not been able to give the people aid earlier.
"I can help you," Solace offers. "Sometimes I miss being surrounded by books," she adds speaking to the elf which looking at her she doesn't seem to be the bookish type. A tiefling with large white ram horns wearing somewhat clean armor smiles back at you. "I'm Solace by the way and you are," she asks curiously.

As Sev walks in, he mentions to Ink, "What exactly can we help with? I mean, fighting goblins is one thing, but cloud giants? That's a whole different fight. If you have something we can do while you guys are looking into these books, then it can't hurt to mention it." Seviari is also going to case the room as he walks in, see if there is anything else significant in the rubble (Also secretly seeing if he can notice anything valuable lying around, but he's not going to mention that to anyone)
