"I'll wait for Zoar's messenger, i don't want to risk missing this meeting... not when I'm so close. Be careful, I wont be there to bail you out" With a wave Rip heads off for the longest hour of his life.
Ink picks up the faintest pulse of an adamantine rod about 10 miles away roughly to the northwest, but it’s only there for less than a minute before vanishing out of range.
Ink manages to place the adamantine rod back into the bag of holding and then says, "I picked up one of these rods about ten miles northwest of us, and then it left range of the spell. Hopefully, that means it's moving away."
Ink then asks, "Do we know what's northwest of here? Cities? Towns? Other landmarks? Rip bought a map, but he's not here. Perhaps Rowan has one."
In due time, as Rip waits at Danivarr’s House, a messenger arrives. “Is there a Rip Dangerfield in the inn?” The man wears a leather longcoat, and holds a rolled up piece of paper in his hands.
// The broken adamantine ring is 1,000 pounds, and its bent shape is roughly 4 feet in diameter. How are you getting it up the tower? //
Rip receives the letter, which contains a short missive, as well as Tamalin Zoar’s original letter of recommendation!
You have friends in Everlund, apparently. They convinced me I was wrong to try and pry my sister’s favor from your grasp. Besides that, it is fairly specifically worded and would be of little use to me.
As for your favor, you will have to travel. Journey north of Everlund, to the Moonwyvern Inn. I have arranged for my contact to meet you there at deepnight tomorrow, 29 Marpenoth.
// flint has a block and tackle, with that and some help we should be able to pull it up along the stairs. How much heavier would it be wrapped in our lead sheeting? //
Seeing Crownsguard about to lift the ring, Ink intercedes. He then says, "First, we should see what Rowan wants. Secondly, I have a spell that'll make pushing that around much easier. So, you three sit tight - I'll be right back."
Ink will hurry up to see Rowan regarding the message received.
Ink leaves the others in the front of the tower, whose guards nod as he enters. Climbing flight after flight of stairs, he ascends the tower. There is one hairy moment when he nearly collides with a young mage carrying an armful of papers, but the mage recovers, mumbles something to the tune of “sorry,” and continues carefully down the winding staircase.
After several minutes of climbing, Ink finds Krowen Valharrow in his parlor, petting one of his many tressym.
“Ah!” Krowen stands to greet you. “Thank for you coming, I was hoping we wouldn’t have to do an entire telepathic exchange. Not the most efficient manner of communication.
“As it happens, quite by serendipity, I have found a buyer for adamantine in Mirabar. A Harper contact, who is a weaponsmith, said that he would pay upwards of 10 gold pieces pound of material, depending on the quality of the alloy. I haven’t mentioned anything specifically, but since we know that the fire giants are after it, it would make sense to try and deny them.” The old mage shrugs.
"A potential buyer? And a Harper? Most excellent. The ring is down at the base of the tower, Krowen. Should we bring it up or shall we cast the teleportation circle down by it? We have one party member waiting to hear from the council and we'd rather not leave without him."
"Ah, the scroll, yes. I wish I knew enough Arcana to be able to copy this spell into my own book - but I don't know enough yet. I'm still trying to increase my knowledge base in simpler spells. It's a shame, but I understand."
Ink hands over the scroll.
"By the way, I think there's a fire giant ten miles northwest of here searching for other adamantine pieces. We have a couple of adamantine divination rods and I use it regularly to find others like it."
Ink, struggling, removes the divination rod from the bag of holding. "I don't think the fire giants created this."
"Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to relay everything you've told me to my friends downstairs. I think my message cantrip should reach them. Our other party member, the halfling, however, is out of my reach."
As Ink struggles to pulls out the very heavy adamantine rod, Krowen assists him. “A powerful artifact indeed! I suspect the work of a wizard, and one quite recently. Perhaps the fire giants have an arcanist in their employ. But you say that there are more like this? And this is how the fire giants are searching? Very wily.
“As for telepathy, I believe we are quite a bit higher than your usual Message cantrip can reach, but here...” Krowen reaches into his pouch and pulls out two small vials with a fairly viscous liquid in them. “Green takes you down, yellow brings you back up!
”And as for the casting of the teleportation circle, I’d rather do it away from prying eyes. That is why we have the windowless room. The less people know about our teleportation habits, the better. And speaking of that, the circle in Mirabar is, for lack of a better term, not technically condoned by the queen. So discretion is paramount, especially there.”
"Hya Boris, an' don'gimme that look! Mind th' potholes this time!"
// While Ink is attuning, the rest of you have an hour. Let me know if there’s anything you want to do, and I’ll get a post up ASAP! //

"Fair enough. Once we get an idea of what is going on, perhaps Krowen will do us the favor of sending you a message as he did to me," replies Ink.
Once attuned, Ink seeks other adamantine rods within a ten mile radius of their location.
