As you enter, you see two Chondathan humans, a male and a female in their late 30's, finishing their business with a tough-looking, human woman. The tower is definitely no-nonsense sort of place. Nothing here was decorative; everything had a purpose, even the finery.
"...so sorry for your loss, and I promise we're doing all we can," the lady was saying to the couple. She was wearing a simple robe that marked her as an elected official, in the Waterdhavian tradition. Just visible on her under-tunic, emblazoned on her lapel, was a silver crescent moon surrounding a stylized harp.
The couple have sad expressions, but express their gratitude. "Thank you, your ladyship," says the man. "We just want justice for Darman's family, is all."
After this, they make to leave the tower, nodding politely as they pass you.
Flint clears his throat and steps forward. "Mornin' me lady. Be ye th' Lord Protector Darathra then? Me name's Flint, what happened wit' them?" Flint gestures to the couple who were leaving.

"Ah...hello, there. Yes, Darathra Shendrel at your service. Are you here about the wizard, as well?" She looks weary.
Adjusting his tunic to properly present himself, as Morak had once suggested to him, Ink replies, "No, Lord Protector - although I confess curiosity regarding this 'wizard' issue - we come from Nightstone, and I originally from Silverymoon, with tides of warning." Taking a pause and looking at the others in his party for support, Ink continues, "giant society is restless, for some reason the Ordning, which keeps things stable in their society, is broken. As a result, all giants are being seen reaching out into humanoid settlements searching for - well, I'm not sure what - no one is. As I mentioned, we just came from Nightstone, which was decimated by cloud giants. They took the massive stone for which the town is made, but in the process, nearly completely destroyed the town."
Marav steps up and begins to speak, "We have come with a warning, there are gi... uhmm... " Marav looks around helplessly, then looks back toward the bard, "uhmm... I think if I finish my thought I might come across a lot like ole' Zephy." He wiggles his finger in a circle around his temple. "Maybe you should handle it."
Marav gestures at Rip, "I think I will let our bard tell the tale and give the warning." He steps back into the shadows muttering about keeping his mouth shut.i
// Love it when we cross post, tends to add a realistic talking over each other vibe //
"Now," Ink continues, "not all giants seem to be causing trouble. We found ourselves in the company of a cloud giant called Zephyros, who was kind enough to bring us here. He was a bit eccentric, likely from his constant attempts to seek guidance from the other planes, but he was kind and was equally worried about the recent giant activity. He was focused on three locations: the Goldenfields to the south, Bryn Shander of Ten-Towns north of the Spine, and Triboar. Initially, I wanted to come here because with its central location we could send out messengers out in all directions effectively and warn the various townships and other cities about the increased giant activity, but..." (pause for effect) "if Zephyros was driven to bring us to one of the three cities I mentioned, I fear that they are each a future target."
//Marav's interjection.//
Nodding to Marav and his stuttered attempt at interjecting, "You'll have to forgive him, he's a little shy. This is Marav, our naturalist, he had mentioned that the Goldenfields had already been visited by some giants, we're not sure which, so we doubled our efforts to come here and hopefully prevent a disaster."
Ink concludes, "I don't want to harp on this issue, but the town needs to prepare - perhaps send out advance scouts in a perimeter around the city? Reach out to connections in other cities and towns to prepare and be vigilant?"
//Waiting a beat (and assuming that the Lord Protector is still trying to take it all in)//
Ink's face suddenly changes, "Now, you said you had a problem with a wizard???"
"Also, our bard has some great reading material detailing everything I just said, I suggest you give it a read. Rip, care to fill in on anything I missed?"
Angel doesn't like the feel of this place. Not that it is evil but he just doesn't like no-nonsense buildings. It reminds him too much of the monastery. Everyone notices he kind of stiffens a little bit while within the place and lets Ink and even Marav do the talking.
"Hey Angel, we got this covered" Rip hands him and Marav each one of the 100gp gems, "Why don't you and Marav go get a bit of shopping done? bring back any money you don't spend"
"I would add detail but I feel a soldiers report would do better here. Now, a Wizard you say? good or bad?"
"I need somebody to keep an eye on Angel, he thinks I'm a dragon remember? I don't want to find him naked in an alley because he got scammed by some never do-weller" Rip whispers back to Marav

Darathra's eyes fell on Ink's tunic but she made no outward signs of recognition, instead listening patiently as Ink told the story.
"I see...Nightstone. You seem like you have more to say, continue."

"Hello, Marav," Darathra says, nodding to the half-orc. "I'm sorry, you are saying that Triboar is under threat of a...possible giant attack?"
Ink concludes, "I don't want to harp on this issue, but the town needs to prepare - perhaps send out advance scouts in a perimeter around the city? Reach out to connections in other cities and towns to prepare and be vigilant?"
"Look, I don't know you, but the truth is that there have been rumors. You aren't the first person to come talking of rogue giants.
"If you report is true—I don't suppose you know how much time we have?
"Goldenfields has already seen giants. It is possible that the they might miss here entirely.... or this could be their destination. Something forced the orcs into Nightstone as well." Marav finds his voice.
"While we were in Nightstone preparing to rescue the villagers from goblins (an unrelated matter), the town was set upon by orcs. And something seemed to be driving the orcs, their leader was bloodied and desperate to get inside the walls. Not so desperate that they were willing to talk to us, instead they all died without telling us what was going on. It would not be amiss to send rangers out, scouting."
//Waiting a beat (and assuming that the Lord Protector is still trying to take it all in)//
Ink's face suddenly changes, "Now, you said you had a problem with a wizard???"
Darathra has been tracking with you this entire way and is jarred at your sudden change of subject. "Um...yes, a wizard moved into town recently, he's cantankerous and has been causing a lot of trouble in town. The trouble culminated in the death of a young stableboy just last month, and tensions are high right now because the wizard has summoned gargoyles to protect himself, which are randomly terrorizing the people of the town with their mischief...it's a whole thing.
"But you were saying...the giants. Is this a real threat? And do you have any more information?"
"Goldenfields has already seen giants. It is possible that the they might miss here entirely.... or this could be their destination. Something forced the orcs into Nightstone as well." Marav finds his voice.

"Indeed, but as a leader of the town, there are always a dozen or more possible threats to scout for or send reinforcements towards. It takes time and resources."
Angel will give the god a big wave hello to the guard outside the building and then walk in; prepared to see whoever is in charge.
Sighing a bit, Ink follows his compatriots in, nodding at the guards, muttering under his breath, "G'day..."
