Ink produces the witch bolt spell scroll for their inspection.

"Narth had mentioned that this was the flagship store and that I could find what I need. What other wares have you for sale? Potions perhaps? Other interesting items?"

The clerk looks the spell scroll over, and examines something in his register as he does so. “Hmm? Oh yes, Narth, how is he? We have potions for sure, healing potions, the good kind. It would take me the better part of an hour to review our entire stock with you, and it’s shifting all the time, but if there’s something you’re after, I can almost  guarantee you we can get it for you!”

Marav lowers his hood and his gaze, "M'aam, I am both a druid and a ranger by trade. I was raised by humans but as you can see I am of orcish descent. I would be interested in any magical items be it weapons or utility that might help. We find ourselves having to help people more often than I thought. The world has become a dangerous place and we need to be ready for it."

While elf clerk behind the counter examines the scroll, the other clerk continues to talk to Marav and Ink. "We get plenty of adventurers and expeditioners in here, but most are just looking for basic gear—rope, bedrolls & blankets, climbing kits, saddles, sheaths, scabbards, and any number of other tools. And of course healing potions! We sell potions, 50 gold pieces, and also if you're handy with an herbalism kit and you're looking for a health potion brewing formula, we have those available as well. Just 10 gold pieces, or 50 gold pieces for the improved recipe.

"All of our magical equipment is done by special order. Depending on availability of components and enchanters, we can turn something around in as little as one workweek." She smiles, showing very white, and slightly pointed, teeth. "If you'd like to place a special order, I can get it started for you. Usual terms are half down, with the remainder due on pickup."

The elf clerk speaks up after his tiefling colleague is done with her spiel. He references a sheet behind the counter as he does so. "A scroll of witch bolt! This is dangerous in the right hands. Normally I'd ask for more gold, but you seem like an upstanding sort of elf. I'd be happy to trade straight across, the magical gem for the scroll." 

Meanwhile...

Flint, Rip, and Angel sit waiting in the cart, when suddenly you hear a clear female voice, sounding of disbelief and allayed grief, coming towards you: "James? James!!" 

A female halfling is running towards your cart as fast as her legs can carry her. 

//oh you dirty rat lol//

"Sarah?!" Rip calls out in relief as he leaps from the cart and embraces the mysterious halfling "Fear was creeping upon my heart, but now finds no purchase!"

The halfling female just holds onto Rip for a very long time, crying in a bittersweet way. She is obviously happy to see him, but the tears keep coming. She is at a loss for words.

Rip holds her close, gently swaying back and forth as he silently comforts her knowing words will not aide him now

“James. Whose James? I thought he was Rip?”

Angel says allowed as he points at Rip.

The elf clerk references his list and prepares the ledger. "Three healing potions, the improved recipe, and an herbalism kit...all told, if you're trading in that scroll, it'll be just 5 gold pieces today. I'll be right back with your items." With that, he disappears into a side room.

The Tiefling flashes her bright smile again. "Thanks for noticing! It's actually a simple little trick with an alchemy kit, using salt and some lightning magic."

The male elf returns shortly with a pouch and three vials containing a red potion. "Here you are sir! Is there anything else I can do for you fine folks?"
