Lord Weirding only hears Ghee's good night wishes, being already on his way down the hallway. "I'm in for a scolding come tomorrow." Mez admits, her eyes meeting Darrik's as the other dwarf in the company begins dozing off.
Bleep and Khan share a couple of thoughts in their native tongue, but the grung leader quickly changes to Common and nudges Mez to take them downstairs. Dessert certainly ruined by now, she calmly stands up and leads the way. She unceremoniously walks through the door the servants had been using all night and begins to descend some steps connecting the servant's landing to the cellar.
(OOC: I'll assume everyone but Darrik follows her.)
Now underground, the group sees what Darrik had described earlier. A large stone-lined cellar spans the entirety of the manor. There are many rows of wine racks and the walls of the cellar look different than that of the manor. Some still have old hieroglyphs and drawings depicting Chultan dwarves, which Saros helped Darrik analyze from memory earlier. Ghee feels some kinship with the drawings. From his previous conversation with Darrik, Saros also suspects that there is a secret passage in this cellar somewhere.
Near the back of the cellar there are a few iron cages constituting this town's closest thing to a formal jail. They are all empty save two. The first contains a kobold covered in manure who won't stop yelling his own name, "Quinn Quinn." The second cage houses a grung, green in color and wearing only a loincloth. He is facing the other way, silently mimicking the practiced moves of "repeatedly stabbing something." Khan, Ang, and Bleep immediately recognize this as B'Lip, one of the One Grung Above members and Bleep's brother. For now, he has either not noticed you or is ignoring you, but you fear that in reality he is simply incapable of recognizing you due to his condition.

Already prepared for the visit to the cellar, Saros hangs at the back of the group as they make their way down to the cages, slipping a copper coin out of his pouches, and as soon as be can see the grung attempt to interact he incants Detect Thoughts targeting the Grung to see what he can learn about his state of mind. He will stay connected for about 20 seconds then he will switch to Mez so see her high level thoughts for the next 10 secs and then returns to the grung to probe more deeply (WIS save 15 DC).

Khan scrunched up her face at the scent wafting from the Kobold. Though soon its all but forgotten seeing B'Lip. Without missing a beat, she practically hopped over to the last few feet to study the Grung, facing her fear. "... Wrong... So wrong..." She murmurs, hands faintly shaking and face contorting closer to a scowl after gripping the bars. She too would give him a close once over, looking for any other symptoms that might suggest what other concoction -- for it would take something more man made or supernatural to break through Grung fortitude, or so she figured -- might've played a hand his state.
But, she was no physician. No healer. Only a hunter. A leader. And a failure twice over upon seeing her brethren state. "One Chance." She whispered, finally letting go to turn and face the elf. To her credit, and at least for a few seconds there, she was able to put back on the mask of calm during the movement.
She approached Mez until within arms length. Though her hands stayed at her sides, Ghee would know the best just how fast she could strike if push came to shove. And she was most certainly ready to for the moment even so much an utterance out of the elf sounded like the beginings of a spell or attempt to flee. But for now, all was peaceful on the surface. "Tell truth. No lies. Lord already lie. Flowers outside not dangerous. Not do this... Barred windows bent. B'Lip not strong. Not strong enough... Tell truth. Now. All of it." She affirms coldly, caring not one iota of the elf youth's age or innocence in it all.
As soon as Khan confronted the elf, Saros will switch his spell focus onto Mez, seeking to see her reaction to Khan's questioning....but he will still ensure that he also scans the thoughts of the caged grung as well, when time permits beofre the spell's expiry.

(@MB: As per the OOC Chat, I'm interpreting your roll as a 15.)
@Ghee: You are more than familiar with these drawings. They belong to the several, underground tribes of Chultan Dwarves, which you were a part of. The jungle dwarves of Chult were albinos; their hair and skin were white, and they had pink eyes. This meant that they were very sensitive to the hot sun of Chult and therefore only came above ground at night. Otherwise, they were physiologically like other dwarves. Not too long ago, Chultan dwarves had been forced to leave their subterranean realms due to volcanic activity. Some sought refuge in Port Nyanzaru, while others tried to adapt to life in the jungle proper. You have hovered between the two lifestyles. With their traditional means and raw materials no longer available, they resorted to making armor, weapons and tools out of dinosaur hide and bones, as well as flint and wood, instead of their traditional diamond-edged weapons. They also continued to craft jewelry using bones, feathers, tusks and stones . Unfortunately, the new lifestyle did not suit many of the Chultan dwarves, who have since dwindled in number. It's been a while since you last saw one of your tribe.
@Bleep: Yes, Blip is full of head scars.
@Khan: While you are not showing it externally, your emotions are getting the best of you while you try to examine Blip. For that moment, your hatred for the situation as a whole doesn't allow you to give him the proper once over you intended. You fail to arrive at any specific medical conclusion.
Mez Kara's surface thoughts: "Good thing that dwarf didn't catch me doing anything untoward when he first came down. Gotta keep my cool."
Blip's deeper thoughts (WIS save: 8): "Stab, Stab, Stab, Stab." You feel no specific emotion or strong bond coming from this grung's mind. You start to fear that whatever damage has been done, it is permanent.
Mez Kara's deeper thoughts (WIS save: 11): (OOC: Please see next post.)
Khan approaches Mez as Darrik appears in the steps just behind her, seemingly done with his power nap.
The orange grung goes straight to the point, accusing and demanding answers. Mez Kara raises her hands and looks surprised and afraid: "Woah woah woah! Slow down lady frogling. I know nothing of the plants outside or bent windows anywhere. I wasn't here when it happened but your friend here is serving a sentence and..."
The elven girl begins to weave some arcane bits in between her words....
@Saros:
Mez Kara's deeper thoughts: "I hope this was enough time. I have to escape, now!" She is both afraid and excited about what is coming next. She is excited, more specifically, about succeeding in her mission and pleasing her master.
@Ori: So, Khan is not a spellcaster nor is she trained in arcana, so whether or not she recognizes that Mez Kara is about to cast a spell will be up to the dice. Please roll an arcana check {DC 13}. If you beat it, Khan successfully recognizes it and her readied attack triggers. You can then roll your attack. If you fail, Mez Kara's spell resolves first.
@All: This all happens in a fraction of a second. Khan was the only one with a readied reaction, so others will not be able to interfere with this specific "duel". You are more than welcome to try to do so immediately after it.
Not knowing quite what to make of Mez's thoughts Saros blurts out "We are betrayed...stop her....and we need to get out of here! Darrik - where is the exit to outside?"
As much as it may not have seemed as much at times, Khan had kept a close eye on Saros the past few days since he's little "lesson". A Khan did not forget, nor did she easily forgive. She would entertain during quieter moments means and methods of overcoming the goblin supposed gnomes disturbingly subtle magics in the inevitable event of betrayal.
Almost as if in reward for due diligence, she caught on to the subtle phrasing within and between the words, and acted even before Saros had barely even started to speak with one sudden, penetrating punch for the abdomen. At least those without the eyes for it would see as much, but assuming Ghee's attentive enough... there were two.
With the fist, the first blow, using the proximal interphalangeal joints of the hand, meets to absorb the object's initial resistance. Then, with folding the hand immediately to switch over to the proximal phalanx knuckles, delivers the final strike to the weakened muscle of the elf; in addition, the two hits are delivered at nearly the same time, with a few milliseconds interval.
While her technique could some work, the bit of ki transfered in the first, and then sent scattering in the second would disrupt her system thoroughly. "No more chances." She stated flatly, regardless of whether her technique took hold or not.
(Lethal)Readied Strike - Attack: 16 Damage: 7 non-magical bludgeoning damage. If hit, spending 1 Ki point for Stunning Strike(DC 14).
Staring at the Chultian dwarves Ghee cannot remember the last time he saw another of his kind. With the busy port activity he sees more of his mainland kin coming in as part of adventuring parties, mining expeditions and as crew on the ships. Looking at the carved artwork he wonders whether his ancestors lived here once, whether the manor above their heads sits on top of ancient seat of his clan.
Snatched from his musings by Saros' outburst, "What's goin' on wi' tha commotion here? Who's betrayin' who now?"
Bleep is at first glad to see his brother again, but that's when it starts going downhill for him.
Seeing his brother with the all-too-familiar scars, knowing how the people were affected after getting those scars, and hearing Saros say 'betrayed.' All three in this circumstance hit him like a ton of bricks. He stares off as the sounds around him fade to muffles. It may looks like he's looking at his broken brother but he is stunned in an emotional shut-down.
Darrik gapes at Saros for a split second before jerking his head towards the cellar door. He doesn’t go himself, waiting to see what happens with the wizard and Khan (assuming they’re in the basement? Was a little confused).

(OOC: Sorry if it wasn't clear. The whole party is in the basement now that Darrik stumbled down as well. The only other person that came down with them was the apprentice, Mez Kara. Then, there are also two prisoners down there: Blip and a manure-covered kobold.)
Saros announces to everyone around that some sort of betrayal has taken place. Khan seems to be well aware of it, but others need a moment to let the shoe drop.
While a commotion begins to happen in the cellar, two of the grungs focus solely on Blip. Ang examines her hunting companion up and down, rifling through her supplies to see if she finds something that could be of help. While Ang is certain she could treat the scars left on Blip's head, she is not so confident about whatever physical damage has been dealt to his brain. She suspects lobotomy of some kind, which would require powerful regenerative magic from well-trained clerics. Even then, there is no guarantee that restoring missing brain matter would bring back any lost memories, personality traits, trained skills, or even full motor function. Bleep stares blankly, clearly taken aback by the situation.
Ghee is momentarily busy elsewhere too. The drawings on the walls bring back some sad memories that make him want to use his decanter repeatedly. Lost in thought, he is only able to react to the ongoing commotion verbally for now.
A fast learner, Khan immediately recognizes the verbal signs of a spell being cast. She reacts with an impossibly fast double strike that also serves to transfer some paralyzing Ki into Mez Kara's body. (OOC: I enjoyed that detailed punch description!)
The young elf astonishes the seasoned grung by proving to be more resilient than expected. The well-placed strike still hurts, but the air is not knocked out of her lungs. She finishes her incantation and disappears in a silvery mist. (Mez Kara takes 8 bludgeoning damage.)
Saros finishes his warning, eliciting Darrik to look at the cellar doors he used earlier this day. The dwarf turns his head just in time to hear those same doors being padlocked (a.k.a. double cellar doors leading outside). A second later, the door the group just used to come downstairs is slammed shut by a teleported Mez Kara (a.k.a. the door at the top of the steps that would lead back to the servant's landing in the first floor.)
The group finds itself looked in the cellar. The dim light of the two light sconces in here is all that gives them comfort.
Ang now realises the trouble in which the party is. Without hesitation, she runs to the door leading to the servant's landing in the first floor and looks if she can pick the lock. Thief Tools (DEX+Prof):22
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Catching up with what's going on, Ghee splits his attention between Khan, Ang and Saros, hoping they might fill in some of the blanks in his mind.
"Ah'm assumin' they've locked that yin n' all, if'n their plan is tae lock is on doon here."
Stroking his beard as if to aid his own thought process, Ghee paces around the cellar.
"They could keep us locked doon here, sure. But why? Wi' B'lip and this kobold in cages but us free tae wander? They ken fine well what we could dae in a scrap after what we did ootside..."
Suddenly clicking that if the images of Chultian dwarves were carved by his own people that the cellar of the house may be older than the house itself... And if it's older, it might have a older entrance that even Mez and Lord Weirding don't know about! Suddenly excited, he begins moving around the cellar, from spot to spot, rapping his knuckles against posts of the wall, looking for hollow points in the walls
Settling down from the realisation that they have been conned, he is instantly suspicious that there must be more to it than just locking them in the basement he listens to Ghee then relays what his spell discovered "We have been deceived....even when I was looking for any hint of it, Mez's thoughts were clearly focussed on triggering this trap, so there must be more to it....." at which point he pauses to look at the grung absently stabbing the air ".....and indeed your friend it seems has been permanently changed, his thoughts showing no emotion other than focussing on the repetition that you see, so do not release him. I fear that this Lord expects to do the same to us and must have plans. We have seen the impact of the beasts with their sleeping poison, and they have also talked on other toxins, so perhaps the food and drink you consumed above was tainted, or perhaps they are planning other ways to subdue us. They have the upper hand so we need to act quickly.......perhaps check the doors for a way they could "
As Ghee moves off, Saros will follow, keen to investigate an alternate escape route, calling back to the others "I expect our host is a wizard of some power, so be on guard, and don't stay too near each other, and remember that they have the ability to turn invisible as we saw outside" In addition to looking at the walls for signs of a secret door, Saros also scans the ceilings and doors for any hint of something that could allow gas to be sent into the room, fearful that they are going to be drugged.
Knowing that his life might depend upon it he invokes his precognition in the Investigation check to roll a 15 + 7, to give a 22 for the Investigation check.

Perception (listening) 5
