 Oh no I didn't follow Bel in to the room - I meant the hallway we were in - I was looking to see if there was another exit beyond the 5 doors here.

So I haven't a clue that anything is going on with Bel :)

Bel nimbly avoids being tripped up as he leaps to the edge of the room, weapon at the ready... (are you readying an action?)

Bel will stab at the rug

Bel's rapier makes a small hole in the rug, jarring his arm a bit as the tip of the weapon seizes against the stone floor.

“What the hell is this thing” Bel yells out.

Lana looks in the doorway and sees them stabbing at the rug. Spirit runs in and jumps at biting and tearing at the rug. Lana readies and arrow but does not fire it afraid that it may bounce off the floor and hit one of her companions.

Aregarak hearing the commotion from within the room strides in and swings at the rug

Even while Spirit tears at the rug, the massive thing moves of its own accord and move to wrap around Spirit!

From inside the rolled-up carpet, you can hear Spirit struggling!

Bel reaches into his bag and pulls out his crowbar and begins trying to pry the rug off of Spirit. “Try to cut him/her loose” he yells to the others.

Sure - Aregarak will try and grab the rug and pull it open

It’s hard to find a way to wrestle the massive rug open, but Aregarak manages to find purchase with the fingers of his gauntlets on a tasseled edge. He can just see Spirit’s aging face, and could possibly squeeze in to try and free him. 

// If you like, Aregarak, you can trade places with Spirit, becoming grappled by the rug yourself and suffering the bludgeoning damage. Otherwise, Spirit can escape the grapple as an action, no check required, after suffering the damage from the rug at the beginning of his turn. //
