"Hah!"Thufir laughs as they go, "I'm no knight. And battles are quick. How long would it take us to sneak like rats through?"Then looking to the others in the group adds, "Though if we shall be rodents, I'll do my best to keep my armor quiet."
preemptive stealth roll if we're going for that - 1 -- edit: wow!!! double 1s! that's like a 1/400 chance. That should be a critical failure! :D
Lord Vitre rolls his eyes at his companions interpretations of the Sally Port. He points to the stout shield dwarf and address his companions in an instructive manner "When someone offers you the key to the secret passage, you take it."
He nods and winks to the stout dwarf, waiting expectingly for the key. "I ended up with this quite awful armor from one of those cultists. I would prefer something more agile. My fine sir, do you have any studded leather? How about I give you 10 gold, I'll save your mill, and we'll call it good?"
Persuasion: 12
If he dwarf declines the offer, Lord Vitre will take the the best light armor he's otherwise willing lend.
After he finishes adjusting his armor, Lord Vitre nods. "Stealthily now..."
Gae shakes her head, "Lowlanders speak in such strange ways."
At the suggestion of going stealthily she nods, "Quiet like the wind. Once this is over I shall need to tell you the story of how my ancestors stole a stone giant's favorite pet."
Escobert points out a rather worn set of studded leather armor that Vitre can use, nods in acceptance to the parties choices, and goes back to counting through the equipment currently gathered. The way out of the Sally Port is fairly straightforward. One of the guardsman unbars the way for the party to traverse through -- Thufir making the most noise in his haste to get out of the keep and toward the mill. Following him the rest of the party isn't near as quiet as some would like, booted feet crunching in the dirt.
The moment Thufir leads the party out of the keep is thankfully a gap in the encircling raider party, enough that at least with minimal stealth the group is able to make their way from the sally port and the keep with little trouble. When Vitre stood atop the parapet of the keep and the mill was pointed out by Nighthill, noted that the mill was back in the direction of which he'd come to Greenest and the keep in general.
The circle is your destination. The "x" is the location of the sally port that you have exited through roughly. It is around 500ft to reach the mill from the keep. Please feel free to discuss the route you are taking/discuss among yourselves as needed. I will post a DM post within the next few days or so to continue beyond this point (if you reach the mill or reach a raiding party)
Coming out of the Port Gate, still rubbing his head from knocking it on the door, Thufir looks the direction he knows the mill to be and sees the small stream curling through the city. Seeing that it leads in the direction they need to go he starts jogging in that direction, saying to the group, "We should avoid the town if possible and follow the water. It will no doubt lead to the mill. Though there are cultists that need a beating in town, our priority is stopping the flames."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Stealth: 12
Sorry for taking this long, I was busy in the morning.
The half orc starts moving as quietly as he can "I've noticed that you two are eager to fight these cultists. Is there any particular reason why you want that so bad?" asked to Thufir and Gae-Al with a curious look.
"How else can I carve my clan's name into legend than by saving a town and defeating my enemies?" Gae-Al responds to Steven. Hearing Thufir suggest the direction, she nods, "Maybe stick to the trees, less exposed."
Wolfstine says while looking at the Goliath "You will have your chance! Just don't let your battle lust get your friends killed the dead tell no tales."
Wolfstine looks "Agreed stick to the trees along the water the water may hold unseen dangers"
As they jog, Thufir replies to the half-orc, saying, "I have some history with these mask-wearing shits. Though I never thought they'd be able to do something like raid a town like this with a dragon supporting them."
He then agrees with Wolfstein, "The trees will provide good cover."
Finally, to Gae-Al, he says, "That may be true, though for today, remember that we need some alive."
He then reaches to the sword slung across his back and pulls hit from it's sheath, revealing a well made, though equally well worn blade, preparing himself for battle.
The first four hundred feet from the keep to the mill is traversed in relatively safety. Despite the parties lack of stealth no cultists or raiders bar your path. The trees and the riverbed help keep you fairly hidden as you make your way through the dark of the night. It isn't until the last hundred feet or so, as the party passes over the river and out of the trees, that a group of raiders comes upon the group. There is a shout of surprise, and suddenly two of the dragon masked humanoids race toward the group with scimitars raised, a third in robes hanging further back, hand alight.
he then puts his bow away and reaches for his rapier which he will draw as a free action on his next turn and attack "Subdue one of them! We need him for the Gov.."
Lord Vitre stomps his feet and starts slowly shuffling his feet quickly forward as he spins and draws out a sling bullet. He pauses, twirls back the other way and the sling is now overhead, whirling through the air. He readies the bullet's release until a charging cultist is within normal range (30')
