As the Hunter disappears, Skarro sags to the ground praying in fervent thanks to the goddess. He watches numbly as the others ferret among the remains, slowly catching his breath as he assesses his wounds.
"Not Skarro's time yet." His tongue flickers from his mouth as he stands and stares at the remains. He pokes them with his boot before turning away. "Now Skarro needs rest. Others need rest too?"
He casts around for a place to rest and his eyes follow the path of the hunter, back towards the tree. "Maybe good view up there," he says. "See path out from top."
Poking the ash shifts it around and causes the small child's slingshot to topple on to the normal grassy ground. The Hunter's tree though is on fire so that is not the best place to rest.
"The Hunter should have had a cave, no? Maybe rest there?" Varn offers, thinking it is best to sleep where the living armours won't find them. He could not muster the magic needed to defeat another of those at the moment.
The Hunter's "Cave" was the tree. Because the material plane is slowly being assimilated into the Golden Emperor's domain, things are getting warped and changed. Where the tree was, there used to be a goblin cave but the corruption has warped the cave into the big tree... that is now on fire.
@Skarro, roll Survival. You don't see any shelter nearby that can offer you any reasonable amount of protection but you can try moving through the forest to search. Or you could try moving toward the original destination where Tiamat said she'd wait for you: The outskirts of Phandalin or what used to be Phandalin.
The party continues moving through the cursed forest. They hear the metal boots of rampaging armors in the distance. Without the Hunter to be their eyes, these creatures blindly attack anything in their range. For now, that includes trees and rocks.
After hours of walking through the forest, the party encounters a massive brick wall. The wall seems to stretch infinitely into the skies. Where Phanadalin was it is now behind this massive brick wall.
"A wall." Varn declares the obvious. "I think the goddess mentioned it. Was this where we planned to meet or were we supposed to get here before it appeared? I don't remember." He looks around, searching in case Tiamat is anywhere to be seen. "Maybe it's time we rest here? I don't think there's getting past this wall, but at least we'll know nothing approaches from behind."
There is rustling in a cluster of large bushes. Tiamat's red head emerges from it, "I am pleased to see you have made it in tact. I hope the forest didn't prove too deadly."
Skarro puffs up his chest, taking a deep breath. "Skarro thought he would die." He looks from side to side at his companions. "Skarro thought we would all die."
He waits a moment, his gaze briefly settling on Tiamat before looking away once more. "We survived the test. Kobold-kind are strong and resourceful. We will not fail our goddess."
Standing a little shakily he steadies himself then asks, "Is there a safe place to rest?"
((Sorry I haven't been updating. I'm kinda swamped with a thing right now and posting will be slow this December))
The goddess seems to get a look of surprise and also excitement when she hears of the Hunter's demise. "You have? You slayed the Hunter? I did not expect you to fight it... and survive. But you did! A-and that's amazing! Great news! You must have gotten a lot of those soul coins from a creature as twisted and old as the Hunter, right?" She then notices how beat up and tired everyone is and says, "Ah forgive me. I ignored how tired you all are and made you stand. Come in to this big bush. I've dug a small burrow in here hidden by it. You can rest there. I shall keep watch."
Tiamat's head then disappears in the big cluster of bushes.
Skarro shakes his head sadly, almost pouting, "No coinses from Hunter. But some from the armour." He shows her the coins he found before following underground, eager for rest.
He settles down to rest, clearly exhausted, then looks up at the others, "Maybe we should look for armours in morning? Coins are good."
The small hole that the goddess had dug underground was cramped but it was big enough for all of them to rest inside while the goddess had one of her heads out to keep watch. She did seem to deflate a bit when she heard there were no souls to be gained from the Hunter. "None? Oh. I was sure a creature that powerful would have a spirit to match but... I guess I was wrong."
With a bit of frustration though she rejects the idea of hunting armors for more coins, "There is no time for that. The more time we waste, the more time the Golden Emperor has to manifest completely in the material. I don't know how strong you think I am but it is not enough. Even if I were to have my full power, I stand no chance against the Emperor should he manifest. That is why it is essential for everyone's survival that we reach the source of this corruption and sever the material plane's connection to the Eternal City before the Emperor can manifest."
Varn does his best to make himself comfortable in the hole. Usually he might complain about having to sleep so tightly with others, but given the trouble he got them all into, he keeps his complaints for himself. "But how will we get past that wall?" Varn asks, already sounding sleepy. "Does it even have an end?"

As he gazes up at the tree, Skarro notes the growing fire with satisfaction. "Maybe tree not so good," he says. "Maybe another tree."
He casts around, looking for somewhere to rest. "Skarro tired," he says.
(( @DM: Have the vines with eyes changed? And are there any places that might afford a view and/or shelter? ))
The vines with eyes are no more. They're all gone. There are still alien trees around but it'll kinda be hard to take a Long or Short rest up there.

Skarro nods, "She said to meet on the wall."
He casts around, looking for signs on the goddess, frowning as he remembers her earlier caution.
