Realizing that the Hunter's shot probably means his friends have been seen Skarro breaks cover running north, once more using the huge armour piece to deflect any shots. He hopes his distraction helps them escape notice.
"Ah, it can't be helped then," Varn sighs. "Just come out to the open. If I can see you, you'll be able to see me too." And maybe, just maybe, he'll be able to shake off the Hunter's focus. He had no idea what a Kobold child is doing here, and had no idea how he might be able to help them. Moreover, with the kinds of monstrosities they keep encountering, travelling with them might not be a good idea anyhow. If the child does somehow survive a shot though, perhaps Varn can help them, at least for the moment. Regardless, however, killing the Hunter might be the best way to help anyone in this place, though. He hopes the others are making good progress.
Skarro continues to run toward the Hunter, holding up cover. The child meanwhile goes quiet. It doesn't come out. It doesn't speak. That is very strange.
Varn and Skarro would both notice that they have gotten quite a bit distance away from each other. In fact the two are no longer can see each other. They have to make a decision: Stay together or split? Rest or press on?
((The map is not needed anymore))
Komos and Zorn hide. The Armor passes without detecting them. With the nearest eye destroyed the Hunter has trouble locating them. Now... as the armor passes it opens up the perfect chance to sprint out of the Glade and back into shrubbery and foliage for better cover and hiding spots.
While Varn and Skarro try to rest separated from each other... roll Perception both of you.
After moving for some time Zorn and Komos finally arrive at the goblin cave where the Hunter is perched... yet they notice that the cave is no longer there. In its place is a tree, tall like a spire. The tree is white, chitinous and otherworldly. The strange branches just out of it like diseased growths rather than natural branches. Yet it has leaves. It has strange, blue bulbous leaves that glow with a faint blue light. Surrounding the tree like vines are the veins that the eyes had been connected to. The tendrils climb down from the top all around the tree and scatter among the forest.
You cannot see it from here but at the top lies the Hunter. Its eyes cover the tree, watching for anything that dare approaches. There are spiral growths in the tree that move up like stairs and enter cavernous holes inside the massive plant. Should you try and climb the tree or should you try to reach the top through these holes, either way, it would be impossible to remain hidden if you approach any closer to this tree.
Varn tries to be alert, but as any, staying focused on a non-changing surrounding is difficult. It doesn't help that Varn was never very attentive, either.
(So we cannot see the top of this tree, or the hunter up there? We cannot get close enough to climb the tree, and we cannot attack the hunter from where we are at currently. Seems like a fairly impossible situation...)
(( @DM: I was asking OOC since Skarro is still a half mile behind...I was just hoping that those near the tree might be able to blind the hunter by cutting the 'optic nerves'...if that's what they are! ))

Zorn moves onward, moving out of the clearing and back into cover as he continues to move onward towards the direction the shots are coming from.
Komos follows along with his quiet companion.

Well technically you can climb the tree but you will be spotted. You can't see the Hunter from down and the tree is pretty tall.
(( What is the tree made of? Anything like the other trees? Chitin is still flammable..maybe ))
It looks like an alien tree... which it kind of is. You can try setting it on fire to see if it's flammable or not.
Do the vines leading from the base of the tree look chopable? I'm thinking perhaps they carry the signals from the eyes back to the hunter.
You can chop them but just like the eyes themselves, it will take 2-3 hits of Eldritch Blasts to cut the vines.

Yeah I know. I was answering your questions.
How long would it take to climb the tree? Are there other trees, around the clearing, one could climb to get line-of-sight on the hunter?
