“I think it’s worth a try” Elyona presses a button on her magic rod and turns it into a battering ram. She then runs at the door, holding the battering ram, trying to smash the door down.

OOC: sorry about the silence. Been dealing with nasty headaches the last few days, probably related to having tested positive for COVID on Christmas Eve. Thankfully all other symptoms are mild. 

"I'm pretty sure Ely smashed 'em open last time with her..." Ilyara started, trailing off as the potent halfling woman started off.

"So...that's a no on the safety tent, then?  Alright.  I'll do my best t' keep everybody up," she finished, bracing up and preparing to follow Elyona forward.

"I think since we're in motion now, we'll take this till that third set of doors, then maybe try this blast tent method?"

With a loud *KSHRACK!* Elyona impacts the first door slamming it open. You hear a *p-ting* clatter as part of the hinge breaks loose.

She lines up, takes a deep breath and repeats the process on the second door, with similar results, this time taking two rams to be successful.

The heat increases a bit and you stand before the third door, this one mostly banded in metal. It is quite warm to the touch.

OOC: Take care of yourself ArwensDaughter. I for one would rather you be AFK and come back healthy than you push yourself and not come back.

OOC:

Tiny hut will protect against creatures & objects entering, and against spells & other “magical effects.” But stuff like regular fire, or even dragon breath would have no problem getting right through the barrier:

”Creatures and objects within the dome when you cast this spell can move through it freely. All other creatures and objects are barred from passing through it. Spells and other magical effects can’t extend through the dome or be cast through it.”

Wysp, how do you rule about spells that require attack rolls and target “creatures” being used to attack objects? Some DMs are strict and won’t let something like fire bolt be used against a pile of flammable debris because it isn’t a “creature,” others are looser and apply the same logic of “if you can shoot it with an arrow you can shoot it with a spell.” Where do you come down on that situation?

OOC: Generally for games like this it's safer to go with RAW unless special circumstances occur (illusions shhhh shhhh) that need refinement. The idea is so there are fewer misunderstandings. I'm also pretty flexible so if the group agrees that some things make more sense one way or the other, we can change it up.

Fire bolt does say creature or object though =) Magic Missile will only hit creatures.

Regarding Tiny Hut, I'm in the camp of nothing gets in unless you want it to.

Okay, so fire bolt was a poor example. Can Toots cast chromatic orb at the door to seal acid damage to it in an attempt to melt/burn through it, yes or no?

OOC: Not exactly a contradiction more of what makes sense to Wysp. There is a pages long thingie somewhere on the forums regarding the details of how the hut can/should work and for me, it's easiest to just have it be a secure shelter for the party. 

For the Chromatic Orb I'd have to say no. Creatures only. It exchanges flexibility in damage type for a limit in targets.

Happy New Year's, Errybuddy!  This is me not making any proclamations whatsoever as to how this one will compare to the last one and strenuously recommending everybody else do the same!  We saw what making such proclamations got us last time q_q

OOC: Have the doors been set so far at regular intervals?  Trying to figure out at what range we should drop the shelter/bulwark.  Do we want to keep it fair range for ranged spell and weapon response or make it more a rally point for the cunning actions to be able to reach and rally up with the rest of the party when the breachers (likely rogues) open the door and decide "holy crap! run away!" when the door's breached?
