OOC: Apologies, team.  What was supposed to be a hard but relatively brief weekend ending with me comfortably home by midday today has turned into a snarling shitshow of broken vehicles and ****ery.  I'm fine, everyone else is fine, but I've been more out than I thought I would be and today is a wash.  I WILL be home tomorrow, but yeah.  Sorry for the unexcused absence.

Tommary moves forward in time to see Layla slam against an invisible barrier with a muffled crunch. She bounds back, claws flashing at a large armored humanoid. 

There is a crack and sizzle of red hot rays that burn furrows into the stone and into Layla, you can hear her snarl in pain, while the caster smirks under the hood of his red robes.

Other figures can be seen hacking into a large body lying on the ground, floating torches giving the scene an uncomfortable play of shadows.

Message to Toots, "Everyone quick, Layla's getting attacked, Nine may be down, at least 4 hostiles, at least one caster."

If the force wall he witnessed would impeded Tommary's entry into Layla's chamber, Tommary's going to check that out to see if there's a non Dispel Magic way to take the thing down.  Investigation 21, Arcana 12

Toots responds to Tommary’s message “Oh no!! Try to stop them, but not kill them. They’re probably stuck down here, maybe they can help us!”

”C’MON! WE GOTTA HURRY BEFORE THEY KILL LAYLA AND 9!!!!” Toots shouts as she runs after Tommary.

 It looks like the proverbial Wall of Force or a few inches of Transparent Aluminum.

DM QUESTION: In his studies of magic, does Tommary know whether in this instance of the multiverse whether a spell like sleep can be cast onto an area past the [wall of force]?  

"Hmmm" Tommary ponders the nuances of magic while exchanging Windbreaker for Stormwalker and palming the Wall to see if Stormbreaker's magic impediment defeating property can come into play here as well.  May Rodan the Wind Demon give him insight.

Tommary knows that virtually nothing may pass a Wall of Force even if you can see the other side.

Layla glances in his direction and her eyes widen in recognition, she shouts

"What always runs but never walks.

Often murmurs, never talks.

Has a bed but never sleeps.

An open mouth that never eats?!"

"Shut yer stupid gob you stony *****!" The armored figure swings a warhammer at her cracking off a large piece of her shoulder. "How's THAT for an answer!"

"A stream!" Ilyara shouted back, drawing Rilia and bolting up to the very edge of the barrier Tommary was investigating.  

OOC: To clarify: the wall of force is sealing us away from the battle?  No access to any of the combatants, and none of our spells can can past it?

OOC: yes, the barrier is between you and the fight. No direct access to those involved.

Layla smiles, "Correct!"

With a soft pop the hollow in the water where the wall was located instantly fills, and the smells and sounds of battle become clear.
