Hawksley notches an arrow. "Should I shoot into the darkness and see if it hits anything fleshy?"
While trying to slap at and sidestep the tentacle, Tommary affirms Hawksley with a "SHOOT IT!"
OOC: Echo, you need to roll for inititatie to determine your "turn" in this combat. Hawksley has a +6 to his initiative so if you click the little dice roller icon the basic should be already set to roll one d20 and enter a "6" in the add to result field. Unless you're having trouble with the dice roller in which case I guess notify DM and they or a delegate I guess can handle your rolls.

Toots’ Initiative: 21
“I can’t shoot and my language isn’t very harsh. But I’ll give it a try!”
OOC: ArwensDaughter, save it for someone besides toots. I expect her to be using her save Cantrip a lot this fight. Almost all* of her attacking is Necrotic Damage. That thing may be resistant to the damage type, but we won’t know until she tries.
*(I had my character mostly built but hadn’t picked spells or finished picking equipment. I popped in to let yous all know I was comin’ and to hold up, but it was already closed so I just requested a spot as an alternate if people dropped out. When I got word I was in I just kinda grabbed stuff I thought would work and suited her and I never really looked at it all together until that Gnoll fight. That’s when I realized how poorly it all actually fit together since there is almost no diversity in either Save or Damage types and I picket too many spells that don’t scale for me to use with her 4th-level slot since she knows no 4th-level spells. 🙄 I was tempted to ask Wysperra if I could drop her good stats for Standard Array in trade for a do-over on the spells known, but them I decided it would be both a challenge to overcome as well as serve as an abject lesson to not make that mistake again.)

I would have said no.
1 - It fits better story wise that your spell choices are not optimized. Toots was chasing down the group not wanting to miss out on a mystery adventure.
2 - Spell choices can change far easier than stats. It's only a little inconvenient to have what you have now. Sacrificing stats is too harsh.

There’s a difference between “not optimized,” and only really having one damage type, and almost all Wis save spells. And I rolled really well for Toots’ Abilities and always feel a little bit guilty for that. But these aren’t the worst problems to have. Besides, who knows, Toots may bite it this battle and I’ll be rolling up someone new tomorrow. I’ve had shorter lived PCs. But I’ll play any character, and I like Toots so I’ll make it work.
Edit: Well, almost any character. No Wild Magic. And we’re all having a good time here so I don’t want to spoil it by talking about that other thing.

“Well, let’s see if that shadow dæmon or whatever it is can wither and die like the rest of us!”
Toots raises her lute and plays the now familiar chords of a dirge, the music transforming itself midair into a deathly hand that attempts to grasp at one of the writhing tentacles of darkness: Attack: 21 Damage: 11necrotic damage.

Tommary avoids damage. Not sure if I need to make the STR check or still need to avoid tripping up, if I do STR 10.

OOC: I'm fine with Elyona blessing Hawksley, Tommary, and Oethe, given Sposta's comments above.
