OOC: So Oethe gets it? And he gets a magic weapon, because his mace in nonmagical.
OOC: Right, while Elyona’s Weapon of Warning is already a Magic Weapon for the purpose of overcoming damage resistance, just like Tommary’s. Toots does not carry a sword because she plans to use it, she carries one because it would be foolish not to, so she’s fine. If a magic bow ever becomes available with which to arm Hawksey then everyone in the party will at least be able to overcome damage resistance.
One thing to point out is that Oethe would get the same benefits in combat from any +3 simple weapon as he gets from this. Elyona would be able to use more of the options the RoLM has, and since she likely will spend most slots on smiting, the Rod’s other features would help offset the spells not cast. So if a +2 or +3 weapon that Oethe can use becomes available the most tactical thing would be a switch. (I am merely pointing it out, not telling anyone what to do. Just because something is the most tactical option, does not mean you have to do it.)

OOC: RoLM unless another good weapon becomes available makes sense.
“So, should we head out, or does anyone need to dress some wounds and hydrate? It isimportant to drink water. Oethe, do you need some time to get familiar with your new toy? Also, I had a thought. What if those iron connectors and that Rod were stashed here because someone had taken the bridge apart? What if it had already been assembled and then someone trying to interfere with the gnolls efforts took it apart as sabotage? If we put it together then we would be helping the gnolls. But if it was sabotage, why not just chick them into the mud? Hmm.... Can we check the bridge when we get back to it to see if it looks like it had already been assembled once before?”
OOC: Real talk, are we taking a short rest before proceeding or not?
Oethe will need a short rest to attune to the RoLM, and that thing and the Hawksley’s Immovable Rod would make connecting the bridge go faster.
Also, if folks want to spend Hit Dice either Tommary or Toots should Song of Rest to get the most benefit out of the least resources spent. If anyone else can augment healing to reduce people’s needs to spend hit dice then great because we will each only regain a max of 4 Hit Dice on our long rest later. (Tip! Roll your Hit Dice one at a time before hitting the short rest button.)
Also, Toots will completely refresh her Bardic Inspiration on a short rest as well. I mention it because she has some unused Inspiration she can hand out if anyone wants to make some skill checks for anything real quick before we take lunch.
"I could use a bit of a rest, although I can press on if others want. Arvoreen has granted me some ability to heal others, if one of us is particularly hurt."
OOC: Elyona is down 13 HP; I'd probably opt to use one HD if we do a short rest. Question in that regard: my practice is to let folks roll HD one at a time during short rests, stopping when they are satisfied (or out of HD). Is that the practice in this game, or do we need to decide how many to role before rolling any?
She also has a 40 HP pool of Lay on hands for healing, but I sort of have that in mind as a reserve; it can also be used to cure diseases and neutralize poisons, another reason I'd like to keep some of it at least available for those purposes.
"Well I guess we have discussion to go over to rest. I just don't understand why there's a bridge to ... here. I mean was it for the glowing water, to bait that ... whatever it was we just killed. This room was guarded by those Wights, so I'm not thinking sabotage; but I also don't understand why the stuff was stashed over here. Wait, was the rod one of the things we're supposed to recover from our predecessors?"
OOC: Looks like we're resting. I'm fine with spending HD and using the magic healing we have on hand for emergencies.
For song of Rest, Tommary whips out his saxophone and gets Toots to join him in a cover of the bard of legend Dan of Steel's "Deacon Blues", which is actually the song that got Tommary to learn to work the saxophone in the first place.

OOC: Learn something new every day. I had never thought of it before. Sounds like a good idea.
Go ahead and roll one at a time or all together, whichever suits your fancy.

Yes, a powerful magic rod was on the list of things to recover.

OOC: Did we collect the truesight fluid? If not, I'm actually carrying two waterskins, so could dump one. If no one's done that already, I'll take care of it before we break from here.
OOC: Thanks to Sposta for doing the math! Given that info, and Oethe's plans to be in melee, I'm fine with it going to Oethe.

Well that was weird. I used the dice roller. I'll come back later and see if it works then. Or, if you'd like, I could roll in the game log.
EDIT: googled the error and found out how to fix it, so I did. (In case someone else experiences it, per this thread I added a space after each roll)
