There's no question people wore shields on horseback. However, I doubt they wore them while mounting.
Of course not. That’s what squires were for, to hand you your shield and Lance after you mounted.
Of course they really didn’t “wear” shields for the most part, they held them. This whole “don/doff” a shield thing is just for the game. IRL, you just held it by the straps. For the Shields that did strap over your forearm, it was just a loop you stuck your arm through to hold another loop. If getting your shield on or off took much longer than drawing or sheathing a sword, that would have been a problem.
Fail at finding a picture of someone using two shields.
Hunh?!? Tehfawk?!?
Even if I had attached an image, all images are automatically* stripped from public view for all homebrew as soon as it is published. That is to prevent any potential copyright infringement (accidental or intentional). The only people who could possibly see an image I attach to any homebrews are myself and DDB users in DDB campaigns with me. That goes for all users and all published homebrew. So, even if I had hand illustrated my own original artwork, or hired a professional artist to create something for my use with that feat, you would not be able to see it.
I guess this is where I get to say “Fail at good natured ball busting.” (Or should it be “Fail at ill-natured ball busting?” Or should I be offended enough to go all the way to “Fail at civil discourse?” You tell me.)
*(Homebrews used to be manually approved by Mods/Devs on an individual, case-by-case basis, including artwork. Then they started getting so manny submissions that it was clearly not gonna work that way so things were automated.)

Haven't paid enough attention to homebrew to have noticed that. I was just struck by the inappropriateness of the image they decided to attach instead (why do they even have an image if it's not going to be related to the content?).

That’s the exact same image they use for the official feats with nothing better related, see: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats/actor), it’s the pic DDB picked to be their ”generic feat image.” 🤷♂️
The first pic is very much like what I envisioned for my Cyclones but without the frying pan handle.
In this vid, Shad was explaining about the spiked pavise and at one point it suddenly occurs to him how viable it might conceivably be to “dual wield shield” them:
no, there is a feat called warcaster. it allows you to cast spells while your hands are busy. so you can cast while still shileded up amd maced up. the feat does other things too.

Hey got a question are you able to wield two shields?
RAW says "You can benefit from only one shield at a time." but doesn't actually say you can't wield two, you just won't get any benefit for doing so.
That’s why I wrote this: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/feats/228084-a-pair-of-shields)

A construct with dual shields:
"Sooner or later, your Players are going to smash your railroad into a sandbox."
-Vedexent
"real life is a super high CR."
-OboeLauren
"............anybody got any potatoes? We could drop a potato in each hole an' see which ones get viciously mauled by horrible monsters?"
-Ilyara Thundertale
Here, found some:
I didn’t fail, I never fail. I simply refuse to conform to conventional deadlines. 😉
