Every day of the week, 52 weeks a year. That's rule 0 of D&D (and any RPG worthy of the name). That doesn't make an official reply on what the intention of a part of the game is any more wrong (referring to previous posts, not by you specifically) :)

I seem to recall someone official--Crawford or Mearls, maybe--saying that a monk's Martial Arts feature doesn't grant the finesse property so it can't be used with Sneak Attack.

No, unarmed strikes are ineligible for Sneak Attack, you would have to use a weapon that specifically includes the finesse property.
