I'm looking to play a Blade Bard 5/Bladesong Wizard 3 and I'm wanting to make sure to show my use of spells and abilities correctly. So how are folks making their AC based temporary bonuses show on your character sheets. So you can share with the DM, so not to catch them off guard.
Currently I'm using +1 Studded Leather and overriding it calling it MAGE ARMOR so it shows up as AC = 3+Dex
I have a +1 Shield (+3 total) and overriding it calling it BLADESONG which adds my Intelligence to AC.
But because Im using these modified items, I can't also equip Bracers of Defense, because they only add their +2 bonus if im not wearing armor.
How are others getting pass this sort of thing. It may be very simple, but I'm looking for a means of equipping and unequipping to show them being active.
Rather than add items to give you a custom AC, why don't you edit AC directly in the same manner? It has a customise option as well if you click on it.
To the best of my knowledge, you cannot use Bladesong and a shield at the same time (unless its an animated shield in chich case you can activate Bladesong after activating you Bladesong ability. You off hand must be free.

Watch your back, conserve your ammo, and NEVER cut a deal with a dragon!
I created magic items (wonderous type) that applied the effects of Mage Armour and Bladesong. It was much easier than renaming armour and didn't interfere with Bracers .
The user SpasmThatCat has shared a series of 'Magic Effect' homebrew items to replicate spell/feature effects. Including Mage Armor. If you have a hero/master sub you can add it to save time. It's even artifect level so it's always top of the inventory for easy access. Other people may have made something for bladesong but I haven't tested those.
These are relatively easy to make yourself.

Super good idea to use that, trying to think if any of my players could benefit from something similar for their characters.

"Where words fail, swords prevail. Where blood is spilled, my cup is filled" -Cartaphilus
"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
Thank you for this breakdown... you are amazing. I may have tried this...but im a bit of a scatterbrain and don't remember all the combinations I tried...and could have easily made repeats without knowing.
