Can a Wizard cast mage armor (13 + Dex Mod) on his/her turn and then use shield spell (+5) as a reaction to an attack to increase his/her AC to (13 +dex mod + 5)? Neither of which requires concentration.
actually even if mage armor was concentration, it would still work. It’s only if both spells were concentration that this combo wouldn’t work (since the first spell would end as you cast the second)
