question: what creature type are the spirits? elemental? celestial? fiend?
yes
¨spirits¨ is a very genral term it includes mostly elementals and fey though also fiends(spirits of evil or sin),abberations (the spirits of dobyne peak) and celestial (spirits of good and knowledge)
the important part is that they represent a force of nature or of the mind
So I want to follow up: My impression was that the majority of these spirits were CE fey or fiends, which caused the apocalypse after escaping the 5 wizards
That is the assumption that I based my previous posts here on. Is that the concept everyone else is following? Or are you using a different interpretation?

the concept that spirits are evil is somewhat wide held however that does not mean their are fiends since their not inherantly evil just some of them are not a fan of proper races
it is also important to remember that spirits existed before the great end and that the ¨bad spirits¨ are simply those the 5 wizards bullied around that are know a little mad.
There are evil spirits, and good ones as well, and also those that are neutral or don't really care. The ones that destroyed the world just happened to be evil.
The spirits aren’t evil they are just mad about being captured and used which gives them a reason to hate people. the important part is that they represent a force of nature or of the mind to quote stuffattackknightofrandom
It is said that one of the 5 still exists in the form of a lich. Legend has it that if one ascends to Dobyne peak and calls out their name, the spirits of the peak will lead you to their hidden library in the stars. No one has attempted this and returned.
The drow have long been under the influence of the powerful dark spirit of Lolth. They were originally a subgroup of elves which lived at the base of the Istar mountain, but Lolth led them deeper and deeper under the mountain until, expedition after expedition, they all disappeared.
The incredibly powerful fiendish spirit of Asmodeus has created himself a new plane of existence for him to rule from, and has dubbed it the Nine Tombs. Other fiendish spirits have flocked there in droves in search of power, and it is no longer common to see a fiendish spirit on the Material Plane. Currently the rulers of the Nine Tombs are as follows:
Avernus -- Zariel, patron spirit of the morally fallen
Dis -- Dispater, patron spirit of the socially manipulative
Minauros -- Mammon, patron spirit of wealth and deals
Phlegethos -- Fierna and Belial, patron spirits of subtlety
Stygia -- Levistus, patron spirit of traitors
Malbolge -- Glasya, offspring of Asmodeus and patron spirit of the spiteful
Maladomini -- Baalzebul, patron spirit of ambition
Cania -- Mephistopheles, patron spirit of hatred
Nessus -- Asmodeus, patron spirit of deception and schemes
I would say that while we do need to address the place of devils and demons in the world, we could probably do better than a direct copy of the forgotten realms.
Also the crossover seems kinda sketch... I think the weretigers and rakshasas might fit better as, say, a remote monastery home to powerful weretiger warriors and rakshasa archmages. (just a random suggestion because pairing the two is a cool idea)
thanks

Understood. Now, back to world creation:
