Mr Sidney, the Keeper of Random Knowledge (wild magic sorcerer). He's actually from the Unseen University, Ankh-Morpork, Discworld (if you've read Terry Pratchett, I thought it'd be funny to have him be from there.) However, when he was getting out of the bath, he slipped and accidentally accomplished interdimensional travel. He's a coward, he can't say no, he loves money, but also, he just wants to go home.
One of them is Monty, a Yuan-ti mage of some kind with no arms who uses Mage Hand for everything. One time he kissed the BBEG on the cheek for no apparent reason, BBEG disappeared because our DM had no idea how to respond.
His new character (different campaign) is hlaf aasimar, half tiefling, was struck down by Heaven and Hell at the same time, and rolls for his alignment (even numbers is lawful good, odd numbers is chaotic evil.) Anytime he meets an aasimar or tiefling, he asks them if they're one of his parents. He also will sometimes repeat: "Crazy? I was crazy once. They put me in a room. The rats became my friends. Crazy? I was crazy once..."
I created a party based on Marvel SuperHeroes. It wasn't a time travel thing...I just worked to make their skills and traits translate into a D&D environment.
So I have a fighter who is proficient with a sword (The Swordsman) and one who is a master with a bow (Hawkeye) A dwarven ranger (Wolverine) and a female wizard who only wears red (Scarlet Witch) Finally, I have a cleric who's proficient in the marital arts. Her name is Heather but wants to be referred to as the MoonDragon.

Don't know about weirdest, most creative, or even most bizarre of characters, but I've been having fun with this PC:
Forgotten Realms canon based urd [dragon rock kobold], female, 2'6" (0.8m) tall and 27lbs (12.5kg), some 40 years old. A sorcerer, specializing in the transmutation school of magic. Above 1st level, she has access only to earth/stone/metal affecting transmutation spells, but has access to any of those; still limited by spell slot availability. Not playable in official games and off-balanced, even somewhat under-powered, compared to some other PC classes. A devout worshiper of IO, "The parent of all dragons", she adamantly believes that dragons are living conduits who bring magic onto the material plane, and that without them the magic will drain away. She has a paladin's mindset, without the fighting skill or other class features of one. She does have the rock kobolds' immunity to sleep and paralyzation magic. Io has granted her an immunity to a dragon's awe/fear power, and blessed her with the scent of IO, causing any dragon to at least take pause when they meet her, rather than possibly destroying her out of hand.
Personality-wise, this urd had lost her tribe to a powerful human raiding party, and ended up joining a party of non-human PCs. Her desire is to become the best miner/excavator/manipulator of minerals/metals that she can be, and one day join another tribe, or perhaps start one with the help of other displaced kobolds. Her commitment to IO is so strong that she will never willingly harm a dragon, any dragon ["All are IO's children"]. Though she is smart and wise enough to know that it's best to avoid some of them, she will boldly and reverently approach most dragons that she might meet, much to the disdain of at least one member of the party. Her scent, and her sorcerer-based boost to her charisma, regarding dragons, has so far allowed her to get away with this. This character will offer what she carries to a dragon, and has gone from well supplied and equipped, to having nothing, a couple of times already. [I have no problem with that]
This character had adopted the party as her "tribe", and has aided them and defended them with the fearless attitude of her people, knowing that doing so will earn her a favorable incarnation upon her death. One party member, angry with some of her choices, has recently declared, "I'm not part of your tribe!" Therefore, this urd has abandoned any sense of loyalty that she may have held for that one. She will no longer concern herself with that one, who during that conversation also professed to being a dragon slayer. That character does not yet understand what their declaration may entail. Don't worry, this player group has fun with these kinds of conflicts and plot twists.
If some of y'all may look at this character and think "Earthbender", I get it. She was developed independently of the related animated series, as I had not seen any of the series before. Someone here [sorry that I can't recall your handle] suggested that I look into it, as my little urd seems to be taking an earthbender path. I agree that they're quite similar.
[Edit: This character is actively working to build her tribe, to include recruitment and reproduction [the actual act is not played out]. She currently has a wingless kobold wyrmling, her own, who she has to keep track of, and care for. So far, the young one has not come into active play as an NPC or henchman, but one day the still-tiny being may prove useful, in tight spaces.]
A hexblood who has the souls of a coven of sea hags in her. Everytime she dropped to 0 hp a different soul would take control. They even had different classes which made it complicated but she was hilarious. The witches also were alignments good, neutral, and evil, and used different eerie tokens which would help tell players which witch was in control
I made a Lizardfolk Wizard that used a cookbook instead of a spellbook and had the sage background (he studied the lore of the food multiverse). He also used a pan (customized club) that he would infuse with shillelagh and true strike and basically do more damage than our party's fighter whenever someone said they didn't like his food.
I played a transmutation wizard based off Beaker from the muppets that had snapped and murdered Dr. Honeydew after one too many electrocutions.
I played a dwarven ancient paladin that explained his hexblade dip by having his fiancé sneak out to woods with him then try to behead him to gain a pact. She missed his neck and his beard got absorbed into the axe blade. I suggested in the back story that this gave him a +2 to cha with all females but dwarves. Instead my DM ruled that everyone just thought he was a little kid.
