Total AC: Impossible to hit. Otluke's resilient sphere gives you full cover ;)

Race: Warforged (+1 AC)
Class(es): Ranger 7, Pally 2, wizard 11,
Magic items: Potion of speed (+2 AC), (Rapier) Defender (+3 AC), Cloak + ring of prot (+2 AC), Staff of power (+2 AC), +3 shield (+5 AC), +3 Half plate
FEATS: Defensive duelist, Med armour master.
CALCULATIONS: armour (18), Dex (+3), defender (+3), Prot gear (+2), Staff of power (+2), Shield (+5), Racials (+1), Shield of faith spell (+2), Shield spell (+5), Ranger Multi-attack defence (+4), Defensive duelist (+6), Defence fighting style (+1), Potion of speed (+2), 3/4 cover from wall of force (+5).....
TOTAL AC: 58
You can only attune to 3 items...you have 4 that require it (Cloak of Protection, Ring of Protection, Defender, and Staff of Power).
Defensive duelist only adds 1 AC not 2.
Shield of Faith and Wall of Force are both Concentration Spells so you would need another caster.
I think you might be better off going Artificer to get additional attunement slots and Steel Defender can use its reaction to impose DIS on attacks against you.
Warforge is a better race as you would add +1 AC flat.

Ahh yeah, I forgot about the concentration, and for some reason my brain lumped the cloak and ring together. I had just noticed, and I was literally about to add in the artificer levels Instead of wizard. You can get 3/4 cover from anything so that doesn't really matter. My race is warforged lol. I think you are thinking of Dual wielder, not defensive duelist. Defensive duelist allows you to add your prof to your armour class Once per round (Only against melee) Should be fixed now.
Choose bladesinger for your subclass, and read the books that boost your ability scores. Wait a century, and repeat until your intelligence, constitution, and dexterity are 30. You are technically allowed to raise them higher with the tomes, but you won't buff your modifiers at all.
Still working on my submission, but wanted to point out that you cant use your one reaction to both cast Shield and utilize the feat Defensive Duelist.
Add your proficiency bonus to your AC as a reaction
Combat, Warding
Prerequisite: Dexterity 13 or higher.
When you are wielding a finesse weapon with which you are proficient and another creature hits you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to add your proficiency bonus to your AC for that attack, potentially causing the attack to miss you.
Reactions
Certain special abilities, spells, and situations allow you to take a special action called a reaction. A reaction is an instant response to a trigger of some kind, which can occur on your turn or on someone else's. The opportunity attack, described later in this section, is the most common type of reaction.
When you take a reaction, you can't take another one until the start of your next turn. If the reaction interrupts another creature's turn, that creature can continue its turn right after the reaction.
Choose bladesinger for your subclass, and read the books that boost your ability scores. Wait a century, and repeat until your intelligence, constitution, and dexterity are 30. You are technically allowed to raise them higher with the tomes, but you won't buff your modifiers at all.

With a 9th level Scroll (DC 19 ability check) and a 1 level dip into either Druid or Wizard.
Not necessarily great for AC, since there aren't a lot of handheld AC boosts that stack, but it's pretty potent for maximizing spell damage, since you could wield Wand of the War Mage +3 , Rod of the Pact Keeper +3, and 4 other +2 Staffs for a ridiculous bonus to spell attack rolls.
If the +1/level effect of the Berserker Axe stacked, you could get +120hp.

You also have to be holding the Staff of Power so unless you have three hands you can't use the Defender, the Shield and the Staff at the same time. You would also need the War Caster feat to be able to cast Shield while both hands are busy. Good use of three quarter cover, though.

shoot! the warcaster feat is easy, but I thought you only had to be attuned to it. oh well.

Okay, here is an experiment that I've seen done for damage and speed. Lets see the highest AC we can get, with these rules:
Submissions shall be formatted like this (I will add mine eventually):
Race:

magic items: (write like this: +3 plate armor, ring of protection x3, etc.)
Total AC:

Here my submisssion: Warforged Barbarian 1/Wizard 19
Feats: Defensive Duelist
Magic items: Manual of Bodily Health, Manual of Quickness of Action, Tome of Clear Thought, Defender, Staff of Power, Ring of Protection
Choose bladesinger for your subclass, and read the books that boost your ability scores. Wait a century, and repeat until your intelligence, constitution, and dexterity are 30. You are technically allowed to raise them higher with the tomes, but you won't buff your modifiers at all.
When bladesinger you will get: Unarmored defense gives you 30 ac, +10 from bladesinging, +3 from Defender, +2 from Staff of Power, +1 from Ring of Protection. Then spells: +2 fromm Haste, +5 Shield
+6 from defensive duelist, and +1 from warforged. So the grand total is 60 AC

When a friend and I came up with this challenge, warfored barabarian was our best pick.

Warforge Barbarian Level 20:
CON 24 DEX 20 = Unarmored AC = 22
Integrated Protection: +1 AC = 23
Shield +3: 28
Ring of Protection: +1 AC =29
Cloak of Protection: +1 AC =30
Bracers of Defense: +2 AC =32
Total AC= 29
Not bad....but not the best.
Warforge Fighter/Forge Cleric
Plate+3: 21 AC
Shield +3: 26 AC
Integrated Protection: +1 AC = 27
Ring of Protection: +1 AC =28
Cloak of Protection: +1 AC =29
Staff of Power: +2 AC = 31
Defense Fighty Style: +1 AC = 33
Soul of the Forge: = +1 AC = 34
Shield of Faith Spell= +2 AC = 36
Okay, I'll shift mine up a bit. I'll drop three levels of wizard for Hunter Ranger, and nab multiattack defense putting my AC at 59.

You need 7 levels in ranger to get that.
BTW its answered here: https://rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/67197/what-is-the-highest-possible-ac
they have to hit you to get the +4, so to add this you also have to add getting hit by something that can hit you.
18th level Artificer (Alchemist) (10)
1st Cleric
1st Wizard (10)
Plate Armor, +3 (21)
Shield, +3 (26)
3/4 cover (+5)
Experimental Elixir (+1)
Feat: Defensive Duelist (+Prof)
Feat: Martial Adept - Elusive Footwork (+d6)
Haste (+2)
Scroll: Contingency - Shield of Faith(+2)
Defender Weapon (+3) [Attunement]
Ioun Stone, Mastery (+1)[Attunement]
Ring of Protection (+1) [Attunement]
Ioun Stone, Protection (+1) [Attunement]
Cloak of Protection (+1) [Attunement]
Ceremony (+2) [Maybe?]
So... total of 58 depending on how much prep we're allowing?
Technically there is still another attunement slot available, if anyone wants to toss something extra in.
#AmIdoingthisright?
One of you should pick through my list and bump up your numbers.
Shape Change into a Marilith (6 arms)
18th level Artificer (6 Attunement Slots) Wiz1/Clr1
Plate Armor +3 (21)
Shield +3 (26)
5x Defending Weapon (+15) [Attunement]
Random Protection item (+1) [Attunement]
3/4 Cover (+5)
Experimental Elixir (+1)
Feat: Defensive Duelist (+6)
Feat: Martial Adept - Elusive Footwork (+d6)
Haste (+2)
Scroll: Contingency - Shield of Faith(+2)
Ceremony (+2)
Oh... Found a Shapechange/Artificer synergy for 66.
Nevermind, Multiple Defending weapons probably wouldn't stack. Womp womp.
How does an 18th level Artificer Shapechange?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.

what makes you think the defending magic weapons stack? that you could attune to more than one
It seems you didn't bother to read the full post before responding. I explicitly included the following line at the end:
"Nevermind, Multiple Defending weapons probably wouldn't stack. Womp womp."
I left the list there because the Marilith is an interesting route that hasn't been fully explored yet.
There shouldn't be any issue with attuning to more than one, it simply wouldn't grant stacking AC bonuses.
You also have to be holding the Staff of Power so unless you have three hands you can't use the Defender, the Shield and the Staff at the same time. You would also need the War Caster feat to be able to cast Shield while both hands are busy. Good use of three quarter cover, though.
