That won't work, you need a hand for the defender, as well as the shield and the staff of pover. On top of that, is the point that you ad oly max 2 dex to your ac with a half plate, on the other hand, you can only use defensive duelist or the shield spell (Both use your reaction)
And don't forget that one of these items should be the adamantine version so that they can't kill you on a crit
Can't. The build is actually armorless (I get an easy +20 by not having armor). Nothing that can be adamantine.
Maybe we can find crit protection some other way? Lots of ways to give disadvantage (making crit odds .25%).
With some cheese, I can easily squeeze 1 more AC out (an artifact with 2 +1AC minor benefits instead of ring of protection). With some minor (and I do mean minor) homebrew, artifacts can have up to 4 minor benefits according to DMG, but none do. If there were, that is a potential +8 over what I have now.
Turn 1, use bonus action to start bladesong (+10 AC), use action to drink potion of speed (+2 AC), and have shield guardian use it's action to cast warding bond that you stored in it with a scroll (+1 AC) [edit](63 AC total) And with your haste action, attack with Defender rapier (+3) (66 AC total)

The build is completely RAW. Bladesinger does not have a race restriction after its reprint in Tasha's.
The UA version acted like Natural Armor and overlapped with equipped armor. The Eberron version explicitly stacks with armor and is generally compatible.
Unarmored Defense doesn't stack. You can add your Con or your Wis to your unarmored AC, but not both. And Rings and Cloaks of Protection only provide +1 to AC, not +3.

Sure. I built a test character and clicking on AC gives a breakdown, but here are the details:
42 AC at start of combat before additional prep (41 before drawing weapons). Now for steps in battle:

With a 30 in the relevant ability, +9 prof bonus, and a +3 weapon?
So.. you only need 41 AC before only crits could ever hit you. And then you can just make getting crits as hard as humanly possible.
(Without class abilities like sacred weapon, anyway.)

Starting at 2nd level, you can invoke an elven magic called the Bladesong, provided that you aren't wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield
good pick up.
Less the shield -> 52, drop the ioun stone of protection -> 51 and pick up the animated shield ->53 AC
