Bound. The shield guardian is magically bound to an amulet. As long as the guardian and its amulet are on the same plane of existence, the amulet's wearer can telepathically call the guardian to travel to it, and the guardian knows the distance and direction to the amulet. If the guardian is within 60 feet of the amulet's wearer, half of any damage the wearer takes (rounded up) is transferred to the guardian.
Regeneration. The shield guardian regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.
Spell Storing. A spellcaster who wears the shield guardian's amulet can cause the guardian to store one spell of 4th level or lower. To do so, the wearer must cast the spell on the guardian. The spell has no effect but is stored within the guardian. When commanded to do so by the wearer or when a situation arises that was predefined by the spellcaster, the guardian casts the stored spell with any parameters set by the original caster, requiring no components. When the spell is cast or a new spell is stored, any previously stored spell is lost.
Multiattack. The guardian makes two fist attacks.
Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
Shield. When a creature makes an attack against the wearer of the guardian's amulet, the guardian grants a +2 bonus to the wearer's AC if the guardian is within 5 feet of the wearer.
This construct is my personal preference
Was that Matt Mercer doing the pronunciation?
Sure did sound like him!!
Yeah, he and Marisha did all the pronunciations a little while back, when DND Beyond first got linked with Critical Role. :)
Yep it was the almighty master of the citterverse. he and Marisha were brought in to do the pronunciations back when D&D beyond first came online. Sadly i don't think there has been time to bring them back to do the same for all the new monsters from publications that have come out since
HOW DO YOU MAKE A AMULET
If you look at the description of the Master Amulet wondrous item, it says it takes 1 week and 1,000 gp worth of components.
how much does it weigh!? >.<
So you can store something like Spiritual Weapon as a 4th level spell and have it control it?
a lot
sure was
Can someone explain the calculation for the to hit on this creatures fist attack? Presumably, it is the equivalent to a 15th level character (based on hit dice) and has a strength mod of +4, so shouldn't it be 5+4=9?
Proficiency bonuses for things other than players are based on the being's challenge rating. At a CR of 7 like a Shield Guardian, the proficiency bonus is +3, so it would be 4(Strength bonus)+3 from proficiency for a total of 7. The chart for this is on pg 274 of the DMG, in the "Creating a Monster" section.
How much you think one of these costs to make?
So does the wearer of the guardian's amulet take less damage as per the Bound feature or is it just that the guardian takes some damage?
I would also like to know, for purposes of other items with weight maximums.
Could a shield guardian attune items? They have a considerable intelligence (for a construct).
I think that the guardian splits the damage for the Bound feature.
So I do not care what anyone says - the creator of this just has to be N IRON GIANT fan fer sure. Its why I am creating iron giant tokens for my waterdeep Hiest game. They are about to encounter the owner of said shield guardian - Ulkoria Stonemarrow.
I got this Magic at lvl 5 and my wizard was abusing it.
