Wild Magic Sorcerer that was a Wood Elf but after drinking a nasty potion he turned part crocodile. This led him to become the BBEG of the campaign and I rolled up a human Paladin.

Hello There. I am a worldbuilder and proud DM that is creating a huge world called Eldredom. I'm pouring many hours into it and I may make some things later...
I've been a forever DM for almost a year now, and my first and only actually played character so far is a Harengon Swashbuckler Rogue. Super cool character and I really like him

Idk I'm just a guy ig
I like Warlocks
I like guitars (coming up on my fifth year of playing!)
I want to be a musician/stay-at-home dad when I grow up
Recently obsessing over Warhammer 40k, specifically the T’au empire
Technically a paladin but someone else made the character and the campaign wasn’t very good, so rogue.

Ranger in the Red boxed set just after Christmas 1983. I was 13 and it was a glorious time!
I don't remember rangers in the box set. It was cleric, thief, fighter, magic user (all human) or dwarf, elf, halfling (where your race was your class). Rangers were in AD&D. Though I also started with a box set in '83, so it's a bit hazy and I could be wrong.
To the OP, I was a fighter, which at the time meant a human.

You remember correctly.
Though I argue nowadays that all the classes were clearly separate species, because it'd be weird if only some of them were.
My very first character was in a classless system - so he was a figher/rogue/mage. But my first AD&D character was a barbarian. Meaning he must have been from Unearthed Arcana, right? He levelled up 5 minutes into the first session because he broke a quiver of magic arrows over his knee =D
SORCERYYYY!!!! (Kronar quote, for those who do not know)

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
just as the title says
mine was a light cleric
Elf

Rogue. A half-elf, IIRC. Had a lot of fun with it, even though I moved almost exclusively to DMing after the initial one-shot.

I really liked dragons at the time, thus I made a draconic bloodline sorcerer.

D&D 3e/3.5 Wood Elf Ranger... Close to 20 years ago now at this point.
Ninja! But it was from an old issue of Dragon magazine and completely broken lol
My first character I ever played was a human ranger, he was lightly based off of Aragorn from Lord of the Rings.
