So surprising that probably the most requested feature on this site(the ability to toggle between 2014 and 2024 version of 5e) was quietly added to the website.
Actually, a lot of updates have been happening lately with very little announcement. 2014 Monks can now use their unarmed attacks properly. No post was made to the "Player’s Handbook - Issues and Support Thread" (which states the last time it was updated was September 17). Rather, they added a small note to say that it is now supported.

That seems to be a pretty good indication that the player base is not as enamoured with the new edition as WOTC's marketing teams would indicate. Why would any company spend money and time creating such a thing if the demand for that thing is waning. The answer is that no company would.
It's a conspiracy that we're winning against Not ever little thing needs a grand announcement(& the changelog is mostly viewed by forumsgoers, not the general Beyond userbase). Also, no, it turns off 2024 in the creator only, not site-wide. They still need to essentially double the site's content to fully divorce the 2 enough for some people to make a decision on subbing or not.

Can you disclose where this toggle is located on the site?

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.

Just so you're aware, what that new option does is cause the character options from the 2024 versions of the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual to appear (or not appear) in a number places in the character builder, such as the class selection screen and various drop-down menus. It doesn't really "toggle between 2014 and 2024 versions of 5e". Elements of the 2024 rules will still be displayed in lots of places, such as the condition descriptions.
I am sure the toggle was not that hard to implement - there are plenty of other toggles that constantly get added to D&D Beyond.
It does, however, feel like a bit of a slap in the face that players keeping to the old system are getting an update they want when the 2024 rules have not even been fully implemented in basic features of this site. For example, the Encounter Builder fails to use the 2024 encounter difficultly calculations. Which would be fine, if we were told “hey, this is harder to do than a toggle but we are working on it.” Instead, D&D Beyond put out a statement saying they have no intention of updating the encounter builder (a flagship element of this site), basically telling us to kick rocks and use the vastly inferior Maps encounter builder (worse sort and filter systems; dead space on screen taken up by content irrelevant to tabletop play; timeout issues; etc.).
I am happy for the people who wanted this. But I cannot express how utterly disappointing it is that D&D Beyond seems to be somewhat neglecting the new system and those of us using it.
Really glad this change was implemented. It's super helpful to avoid confusion - particularly for newer / less mechanically-aware players who are still running under the old 2014 settings. Big thanks to those involved in implementation, so thanks :)

Like the slap in the face of rolling out the 24 rules with no toggle for users not ready to switch mid campaign and causing chaos for months to those established games?
At least they are working on both groups. Though better communication would solve lots of hand wringing and teeth gnashing.
I am sure the toggle was not that hard to implement - there are plenty of other toggles that constantly get added to D&D Beyond.
Given how they described the changes to support 2024, I actually disagree that that's likely. They moved everything over to 2024, then had to walk some of it back to get 2014 to remain supported. I imagine "the toggle" consisted of a lot of branching throughout the codebase. It's not just 'a' toggle. It's 'the' toggle, compared to all the rest.

a) The Encounter Builder has been declared to be for 2014, and the "Encounter Building" going forward is in Maps. I agree that it's short sighted, but it's a minor thing, given that 2024 encounter building is completely achievable with no changes in the Encounter Builder, if you can be bothered to look at how 2024 encounter rules work. The repeated claim that the Encounter Builder doesn't work for 2024 right now, is absurd. You don't get a pretty coloured bar... and that's it. It works fine. I'm using it regularly. All you need to do is look up one table in the DMG.
b) The focus on a tool that works fine for 2024 overshadows the actual work that they need to be working on (and I imagine are) with Homebrew. If people would actually start railing against the fact that you can't build a proper Custom Background, Origin/Fighting Style/Epic Boon Feats, and the existing bugs, we might see more priority on that.
If you want to rail against a 'slap in the face', it's all the new third party content rolling out instead of fixing the bugs with the core rules that exist in both the 2014 and 2024 versions.
Giving at least half of the playerbase a toggle to restore existing functionality that they are currently using, is a huge step forward in listening to the community, so it'd be much better to raise 2024 issues outside of the actual 'success story' result.
The only thing that suffers from 2014 vs 2024 "us and them"-ism, is the community.

This whole thread is about how they did.
There were several bugs that popped up in the implementation. LT was working on one when it rolled out: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/general-discussion/206832-turning-off-or-disabling-2024-content?page=13#c259
