I have never played Magic either, but I will at least be hopeful that there are cool new Subclasses and Feats to add to what we have for 2024 so far. Even if I am still day dreaming of a Necromance update.
Lorwyn is an idyllic world where races of fable thrive in perpetual midsummer. Its dark reflection, Shadowmoor, exists in perpetual gloom, its citizens bitterly transformed and locked in a desperate battle for survival.
Lorwyn is the land where the sun never set. Covered with dense forests, meandering rivers, and gently rolling meadows, it knows no nights or winters. One of the few planes without humans, it's populated by the short-statured kithkin, hot-tempered flamekin, petty-thief boggarts, territorial treefolk, diplomatic merfolk, iconoclastic giants, and mischievous faeries, all living together in harmony.
Also among them: the elves, Lorwyn's most favored and feared race. In a world of unspoiled nature, they consider themselves the paragons of this beauty. Signs of elvish supremacy are widespread, from their gilded forest palaces to their mercilessness toward "lesser" races. Despite the elves' dominion, Lorwyn's people thrive, respecting community and tradition.
The land itself, ancient and verdant, is locked in a perpetual cycle—and every three centuries, that cycle transforms the plane into Shadowmoor.
The mirror-image of Lorwyn, Shadowmoor is a realm of perpetual dusk and gloom. Here, the plane's races, without knowledge of their previous selves, are locked in a life-and-death struggle for survival. Like the plane itself, its denizens are transformed into darker versions of themselves.
The kithkin, once communal and cooperative, are isolated and xenophobic. The helpful, silver-tongued merfolk are now assassins and saboteurs. The boggarts, once mischievous and hedonistic, are vicious and warlike. The blighted treefolk are murderous. Wrathful giants drag around huge pieces of the land.
The transformations of the flamekin and elves are perhaps the most dramatic. Once bright and seeking transcendence, the flamekin are now smoking skeletons seeking revenge. Meanwhile, the vain elves are humbled and heroic in Shadowmoor, protecting every glimmer of beauty and light.
Only one race and one place remain unchanged: the faeries and their home of Glen Elendra. The fae are the fulcrum of this transforming plane—for it was their queen, Oona, who caused it.
That actually sounds really cool as a concept. If they do all of it that’ll be quite a few interesting new races to play as and the Shadowmoor might even scratch our mutual spooky itch
Will keep an eye on it, but I haven't gelled with much MTG content since Guildmaster Guide to Ravnica. This might change that, or it might not. Who knows. I stopped playing MTG itself since before.... well it has been so long, i can't remember when i stopped playing.

I am super hyped about this. Lorwyn/Shadowmooris one of Magic’s more unique and interesting worlds - and one that has remained popular despite not being revisited for years and years.
More importantly, a lot of the content should be applicable to the Feywild - both the brighter aspects of the Fey (Lorwyn) and the more treacherous Fey regions (Shadowmoor). In addition, there’s some great species (and no native humans, which is kind of fun) that it would be cool to explore. I would expect Kithkin, faeries, and perhaps one other (my money is on Flamekin) get playable versions. Kithkin are a bit world specific, but the other two are pretty generic Fae and elementals and would be at home pretty much anywhere.
Really excited about this one - can’t wait to see how they handle it.
Rather than the flame kin could we get a humanoid earth type to satisfy their desire for a semi humanoid elemental to go with the merfolk, mephets and arracokra.

Oh I think we will get more then just a couple of Species, the big thing with Lorwyn-Shadowmoore is the Tribalism, amd alot of creatures have class types too.
So Fairies (maybe both an update & new Groundlings), Flamekin (maybe some Cloudkin, Living Lightening, and Leafkin, which some believe while coming is core sets, same the Lorwyn Flamekin aestic), they meantioned Treefolk in the blog post, not sure how that would work if they intend them to be a playable race, Kithkin (they've been clear aren't Haflings for years), Goblins (Boggarts), maybe Merfolk (not sure how legless merfolk would work), Changelings, Noggles, etc...

So much for my hopes for a Spooktacular October Supplement.
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master
I share that disappointment. Not really familiar with this setting as I don’t play MTG. Anyone know what it’s about?

Flamekin look basically like Tiefling Fire Genasi, so that is cool.

The indigenous wildlife of the Lorwyn is dominated by eight sapient races: elves, kithkin, merrows, flamekin, boggarts, treefolk, giants and faeries
I'll note Shadowmoore sets added added Noggles.
Happy to see more MTG Crossovers. Would have hoped for Kamigawa instead, but i take it.
