So I wanna build. Monk off an idea I seen online. This entertainment background circus freak kinda character.
They as an individual will celebrate the life and death of people. Bring out the positive aspects. And with this kinda person I felt a mercy monk fit. And as I was building somthing clicked. Grave cleric. Providing a chance that would normally slip away. Bring even greater happiness and joy to the world.
So what I'm really asking is how well do you think a mercy monk 1 dip grave cleric would hold up. And what other abnormal choices would you add to this thematic build that would not normally fit with monk.
One level of cleric is a strong pick for any class with even a little bit of synergy, and monk fits that bill. Unfortunately Circle of Mortality requires a spell to restore hit points, so it won't work with your healing punches. Still, the cantrips and spells will be useful and if you have a big hitter like a rogue then Path to the Grave might be worth one more level investment.
You might also consider Peace Domain - Emboldening Bond is really good, scales independently of cleric levels, and can totally fit a theme of celebrating together and providing chances.
