*Gasp!* Elves are the best!
No seriously don't start a debate about elves I can't take it lol. Everyone's allowed to like whatever they like as long as it doesn't hurt anything.
I wouldn't dream of it! Let's talk about something nice for a change. Like how WotC doesn't look like they're making LotR books - a relief that its headed back to AiME, which is where it belongs.
I love Cubicle 7. They make the Warhammer Fantasy RPG as well, which is in like my top 3 games I want to play. Right up there with proper Warhammer and AiME.
Yeah looks interesting... Just wish Game Workshop wasn't so racist. Plus wargaming isn't my jam - even more cost than magic the gathering and less players means its a no-go.
GW are actually way, way, way better then WOTC and my favourite big gaming company. They have their flaws, but the team are cool, you know everyone who runs it unlike WOTC, they have a way better relationship with their community, and most of their products are not mass produced in sweatshops in China like WOTC. They’re expensive for a reason.
Maybe commercially wise, but they're sexist and racist and until Warhammer allows female space marines and similar I will pretend it doesn't exist.
Lol. The female space marines are called Sisters of Battle. Warhammer is not racist or sexist at all, all that noise about it is just cause people don’t read the lore. There are female space marines, they’re called the Sisters of Battle, and they’re even cooler then the normal space marines.
Hmm... yeah, elves are still gits. The culture, not the people.

Uh... I half do, and half don't. What does Guardians of the Galaxy have to do with Warhammer? And what does Warhammer have to do with LotR?
Uh…. Warhammer makes the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, the only LotR game that is licensed by the movies. So it’s the closest thing to an official LotR game.
Hmmm… Here’s a different one, what’s your favourite thing about the Hobbit movies? I know it’s hard for a lot of you but give it a shot.
My favourite thing about it is the first movie. If you just hit skip on all the pointless Azog scenes, it’s probably the best of all the PJ Tolkien movies. It captures the sense of mystery and hidden evil of the LotR books with the foreshadowing of Sauron and the shadow cast by the Necromancer. Martin Freeman’s Bilbo is just amazing, and the 13 dwarves are absolutely perfect, and they keep the humour and comedy of the book even in the more LotR dark mysterious vibe of the movie. The characters really are amazing, from Gandalf to the hilarious Goblin King (played by Dame Edna, btw). There’s a couple bits where Thorin crosses the line from doubting Bilbo to just being a bully (I think there’s two in the whole film) and it feels wrong for his character, but if you just cut out that and the pointless orc chase to Rivendell, it’s a great movie.

The best bit about the hobbit films is its charm. Apart from the Battle of Five Armies, it all had charm, even Azog. And I think the reason BoFA was so long anyway is because Guillermo Del Toro, but that's a different topic.

Really? Azog was a good villain, but not what I’d call charming.
Actually it’s cause PJ never intended to make that movie. I’ve read and watched everything to do with what’s up with the Hobbit movies, and I can actually tell the whole story of how it went wrong. But I’m not typing it all out. Suffice to say, blame the studio not PJ. Dude had a great original vision and you can still see it on them, it’s just blurred by all the studio-mandated shit.

Ok, got a theory about that ring Thranduil is wearing in the Hobbit movies, the one that the camera focuses on. I’ve seen this mentioned before online, there’s a theory out there that that ring is one of the prototype rings that Celebrimbor and co. made. Not a Ring of Power, but still very powerful. I may have proved this theory, we will see…
So the basis of this theory is, Thranduil is super powerful, has lots of magic, and the camera quite literally shoves the ring in our face. It doesn’t focus on his hand, it focuses on the ring. They’re obviously trying to tell us something, lol.
This and the fact it makes sense in lore, is about as far as the theory goes. But I can take it even further. With just one point.
Thranduil has extraordinary power over his realm, that is even greater then older and more powerful elf kings like Thingol and various sons of Feanor. Tolkien constantly mentions this, and it’s on display prominently in the movies. It’s even as far as that the sickness of the Necromancer barely touches it, as Legolas says in LotR. Power to overcome Sauron’s dark magic? Hell. The only elves in history who had this kind of power over their realm are the bearers of the Three.
And there we go. Tolkien explicitly stated that one of the properties of the Three was maintaining and protecting the domain of its owner. No other elf king had this power in the Silmarillion. Thranduil has it, to the extent it can fight off Sauron. According to Tolkien, only way he could have that is if he had a Ring of Power. Theory proved. Thranduil’s got one of the prototype Rings. But why is it so powerful? Well, that’s mostly Thranduil. His Ring allows him power over his domain and strengthens it somewhat. But it’s Thranduil’s true power that is holding back Sauron, the Ring’s just helping. He’s just that cool.
Oh, and this proves another theory: People are constantly debating whether or not Thranduil senses Bilbo when Bilbo is hiding with the Ring on and Thranduil says “I know you’re there. Why do you linger in the shadows?” While looking directly at Bilbo. And then Tauriel walks down the stairs and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. However, Thranduil addressing Tauriel like that is somewhat strange, and later when Bilbo runs off Thranduil glances directly at him again.
Ok, now I can prove (or something close to it) Thranduil did sense Bilbo. One: Tauriel was not lingering. We can faintly hear her footsteps when Thranduil addresses Bilbo if you’ve got headphones turned up high on. So there we go, no way he was addressing Tauriel. And two, now that’s we’ve proven he’s got a Ring, we know bearers of Rings can sense other bearers. So yeah, Thranduil’s just mucking with Bilbo here. Why did he let Bilbo help the dwarves escape? Guys, it was all part of his plan. He wanted the dwarves to get to the mountain to distract or deal with the dragon so he could swoop in with his army (as he does) and grab the Gems of Lasgalen. As obvious, this plan goes very well. And we all know, Thranduil could have stopped the dwarves once they’d escaped any time he wanted. He’s got an army of about 10,000 lol.
I agree with you about Thranduil having a prototype Ring, but doesn’t Thingol have the same power over Doriath? Of course that could be because of the Nauglamir.
Lol. The female space marines are called Sisters of Battle. Warhammer is not racist or sexist at all, all that noise about it is just cause people don’t read the lore. There are female space marines, they’re called the Sisters of Battle, and they’re even cooler then the normal space marines.

Oh wait. It’s not because of the Nauglamir. It’s because of the Girdle of Melian around Doriath.
